The proposed model takes into account the effects of multiple packet losses, and operates with low complexity. It is designed as a general model for different coding characteristics and various packet loss rates. We test the proposed model using H.264/AVC coded video at different loss rates. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves higher estimation accuracy compared to the existing additive model.","PeriodicalId":309894,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128026964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel space vector PWM switching pattern is proposed in this paper, which is easy to be implemented on DSP without any extra circuits. The selection of zero vectors and space vector sequence are given and the possibilities of implementation on DSP are analyzed in this paper. Comparisons are given between the pattern and another pattern in [8]. The results indicate that the ac current with the proposed pattern has lower total harmonic distortion factor than the pattern proposed in [8] when modulation index is greater than 0.65. A current-source PWM rectifier with the proposed pattern was simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The simulation results proved the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":309894,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128103129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to improve the real-time of the UKF, A new kind of UKF called Sequence UKF is proposed in this paper. Like Rao-Blackwellised Unscented Kalman Filter (RBUKF) [4], it also deals with nonlinear stochastic discrete-time system with linear measurement equation, however it can decrease the computational complexity with the same filtering accuracy. This algorithm reduces the measurement vector to scalars in measurement-update of UKF by sequence method, so it can avoid inversing the covariance of measurement and reduce a great mount of computation bound. Special algorithm is deduced in this paper. The high performance of sequence UKF is verified by using Monte Carlo simulations.","PeriodicalId":309894,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125985661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve this goal, two control strategies are considered. The first is based on field oriented control and a developed adaptive backstepping observer which simultaneously are used in the case of fault-free. The second approach proposed is concerned with fault tolerant strategy based on observer for faulty conditions. Stator resistance as possible source of system uncertainty is taken into account under different operating conditions. Current sensors failures are detected and observer based on adaptive backstepping approach is used to estimate currents and stator resistance. The nonlinear observer stability study based on the Lyapunov theory guarantees the stability and convergence of the estimated quantities, if the appropriate adaptation laws are designed and persistency of excitation condition is satisfied. In our control approach, references of d-q axis currents are generated on the basis of maximum power factor per ampere control scheme related to IPMSM drive. The complete proposed scheme is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation is made to illustrate the proposed strategy.","PeriodicalId":309894,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131381452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The investigation and the detection of the hidden neurons were conducted using the standard and ensemble and complex Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). The extension to the field of complex numbers C is particularly important for the analysis of phase-dependent neuronal study. This allows us to combine the data driven nature of EMD with the power of complex algebra to model amplitude-phase relationships of the neurons. The analysis shows that the extensions of EMD to the recordings are magnificent. Simulations on trains of spiking neurons support the analysis.","PeriodicalId":309894,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132561460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The input voltage (45-48 V DC) obtained from photovoltaic cell, is stepped up into 200 V DC with fly-back converter and regulated with current mode control method, applied to a 3-phi bridge system. A sinusoidal PWM generator is used as firing circuit for turn-on and turn-off of the MOSFETpsilas used in the thyristor bridge. A 120 V AC line-line sinusoidal AC voltage is obtained as output. The designed and implemented inverter system has a wide number of applications such as in warship, airships, satellite controls and in defense applications. The main advantage being, the input DC voltage is boosted at the input side rather than at the load side as a results of which it reduces the harmonics, makes compact and more stable. The simulation & experimental results presented in this paper shows the effectiveness of the proposed design.","PeriodicalId":309894,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134155276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The applications of the SPV systems in these areas range from lighting, radio, television and refrigerator to water pump, vaccine refrigerator and telecommunication. Although the SPV systems are sustainable and environmentally-friendly for electricity generation, high cost is always the barrier to hinder these systems into widespread applications. In order to reduce the system cost as much as possible, a new approach to design the SPV systems is presented. In this approach, the technical and non-technical factors including the selection of the optimal tilt angle of solar array and the maximum battery depth of discharge, life cycle of system, inflation rate and interest rate are taken into account in the system design. The optimal sizes of solar array and battery are determined at the minimum cost for the given load profile and the desired loss of power supply probability.","PeriodicalId":309894,"journal":{"name":"2008 3rd IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications","volume":"93 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132945709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
