However, this efficacy is not always owned by every single student since there found many students having difficulties in making career decision. Thus, this study tried to examine the effectiveness of psychoeducational group with symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques to improve the career decision making of Junior High School students. In carrying out the study, the researchers employed randomized pretest-posttest comparison group design by involving 42 students divided into three experimental groups. Students’ data were collected using career decision making self-efficacy scale. Based on Wilcoxon test results, the implementation of the psychoeducational groups with symbolic modelling technique, bibliotherapy, and the combination of both techniques were effective to improve students’ career decision making self-efficacy. In details, Kruskal wallis test showed that symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques were more effective than their combination to improve the career decision making self-efficacy of SMP Negeri 6 Bogor students. According to these findings, counselors are recommended to apply symbolic modelling and bibliotherapy techniques separately to improve students’ career decision making self-efficacy","PeriodicalId":30977,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Bimbingan Konseling","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48665708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was conducted to test the effectiveness of group counseling with congnitive restructuring techniques to reduce students' attitudes towards cheating and increase the self-efficacy of students at SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Yogyakarta. The experimental method used was randomized pretest-posttest comparison group design, involving 14 students as research subjects who were selected purposively from a total of 123 students in class XI. There are two instruments used, namely Attitude Toward Cheating (ATC) for the attitude scale towards cheating and the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) for the self-efficacy scale. The results of this study indicate that cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce attitudes towards cheating and increase student self-efficacy seen from the effectiveness level of cognitive restructuring techniques show that the results are significant. This study confirms the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce the tendency to cheat by reducing cheating attitudes and increasing self-efficacy.","PeriodicalId":30977,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Bimbingan Konseling","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43378517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
