By considering their direct feedback, this research effort aims to uncover insights on the usage patterns and habits of professional network users. As such platforms have certain characteristics that differentiate them from generic social networks, their analysis requires tailored research approaches. Our study targeting LinkedIn was carried out using a survey consisting of 20 questions which was sent to 108 individuals that are either enrolled or have graduated from a technical programme of the University of Craiova and are now in different stages of their professional careers. The analysis of the responses has revealed interesting correlations and influences among certain actions, enabling both users and interested researchers to better understand LinkedIn. Results show that there are strong incentives for soon-to-be graduates, just getting ready to enter thejob market, to set up and maintain a professional online presence.","PeriodicalId":309683,"journal":{"name":"2019 18th RoEduNet Conference: Networking in Education and Research (RoEduNet)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121199298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While this makes our lives much easier, offering modern solutions like smart homes or cars, it also brings new security issues in this area: sensors and other similar IoT devices with scarce resources and functionality have limited ways of providing appropriate security, and every day there is an increasing number of malicious users taking advantage of this. As providing per-device protection is difficult or even impossible, a much better solution would be to do this in centralized manner, from the network router all local IoT devices are connected to. In this paper we propose a router-level IoT security method using a Raspberry Pi configured as a network router. We describe the necessary steps to conFigure the proposed security infrastructure, some possible attacks (e.g. SQL-injection, DoS, brute-force attacks) and defense strategies we developed against them.","PeriodicalId":309683,"journal":{"name":"2019 18th RoEduNet Conference: Networking in Education and Research (RoEduNet)","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133433096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, we propose a semi-supervised machine learning system, based on a taxonomy of emotionally charged words with three classes, taking into account the neutral polarity class, but also a comparison of results by applying several classification algorithms, such as Naïve Bayes, Decision Trees, Support Vector Machines and our proposed approach. We present aspects about natural language complexity from the sentiment perspective and some language resources, considering a Romanian corpus based on 25,841 news and a Romanian language dictionary containing 42,497 words, which can be used by sentiment analysis systems. The scope of the paper is to identify the utility and usability of multiple data sets in a real-world application, to get relevant results about online comments perception that can provide valuable future perspectives for a nation’s social and even political issues. The best result of our implemented system, after having processed the corpus, is over 82%, compared to classical machine learning classification methods with a best score of 70%.","PeriodicalId":309683,"journal":{"name":"2019 18th RoEduNet Conference: Networking in Education and Research (RoEduNet)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122254169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past we used maps and compasses to find our way but today we are using GPS devices when travelling by foot, car or bike. The developments in location-based techniques and the growing usefulness of ubiquitous computing and context-dependent information have resulted in an increase business interest in location-based applications and services. Currently, there are many applications requiring precise location or real-time tracking of humans, animals or other things inside buildings. The current global positioning system is unreliable for interior spaces. Therefore, demand for indoor localization services is becoming a key requirement.This paper makes an analysis of recent developments in wireless indoor localization methods and systems, to have a better understanding of the state of the art and to inspire new scientific initiatives in this promising area.In order to achieve the purpose of the paper, the existing wireless localization systems and location methods are reviewed, and also comparing the related techniques and systems with future trends.","PeriodicalId":309683,"journal":{"name":"2019 18th RoEduNet Conference: Networking in Education and Research (RoEduNet)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121769018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application described in this paper will be used to inform employees about the state of the experiments that are being monitored by sending them a notification on their mobile phones. The minimum requirements for deploying this solution consist in an object-oriented programming environment for Android technology, a Java compiler (for Unix or Windows), one or more SQL databases and a server architecture that supports those tools. The result is an Android application that generates notifications on the employee’s phones, notifications with relevant messages about events in the laboratory.","PeriodicalId":309683,"journal":{"name":"2019 18th RoEduNet Conference: Networking in Education and Research (RoEduNet)","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130528002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
