Another crucial fact to be aware of is that a song is a small piece of rhyming music that contains the songwriter's fantasies, ideas, illusions, and messages for the listener. Figurative language is used in song lyrics to help the reader understand the messages being conveyed. Additionally, the purpose of the current study is to identify the figurative language used in Taylor Swift's song \"Enchanted\" lyrics. The authors employed a descriptive qualitative study approach that included metaphors (379%) and other literary devices such as alliteration ( 21,6%), hyperbole (16,2%), personification (13,5% ), simile (5,4%) and irony (5,4%). The use of figurative language as a non-literal or idiomatic form of expression could increase learners' vocabulary and improve their language's expressiveness and proximity to their feelings.","PeriodicalId":309356,"journal":{"name":"J-SHELVES OF INDRAGIRI (JSI)","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139225330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The population of this study was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Tembilahan Hulu using random sampling technique. The data collection method used is a questionnaire. The results of this study of learning style tendencies indicated that the learning style with the number of respondents was 30 students with average score of 93.38 into the enough category. In addition, it was found that learning outcomes with visual learning styles were included in the “Enough category” with an average score of 95.13, auditory learning styles were in the “Good category” with average score of 104, and kinesthetic learning styles were included in the “Enough category” with average score of 81. Thus the learning style applied in the eighth grade was more likely to be an auditory learning style with the number of respondents being 30 students and obtaining learning outcomes in a good category with an average value of 104. From these results, it can be concluded that the eight SMP N 1 Tembilahan Hulu pay less attention to their learning style.
