L. da Silva Lima","doi":"10.33025/ENC.V14I26.747","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33025/ENC.V14I26.747","url":null,"abstract":"This paper aims to highlight how the Brazilian press has been addressing the re-election process and impeachment concerning the government of President Dilma Rousseff. To achieve this objective, the newspaper O Globo , in its electronic version, was selected since it addresses both national and international issues and has a more significant exposure than other existing media in the country. In this regard, the newspaper has been publishing several reports about the current Brazilian political context considering the government Dilma Rousseff during the first and second presidential terms. The events of re-election and the process of impeachment were presented in a particular way by the selected newspaper, focusing on the construction of a negatively distorted image of both the president and the government in question. This construction has shown a given editorial position upon the domestic political conjuncture. Firstly, the article addresses reflections on the influence of the media on the formation of political perceptions in/about the Brazilian scene. Secondly, it analyses the approach of the newspaper concerning the aforementioned subject matter. Finally, it stresses the importance of the diversification of means of media, which still remain under monopoly of few family companies. In this way, the focus of the text concerns itself with a historical perspective in understanding the inter- and intra-military staff relationships with regard to the three Armed Forces - the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. L. da Silva Lima","doi":"10.33025/ENC.V14I27.1131","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33025/ENC.V14I27.1131","url":null,"abstract":"This article aims to draw attention to the recent processes of political ruptures in Latin America, especially in the cases of Brazil and Paraguay from the Brazilian media perspectives. These facts have been opening a significant opportunity to rethink not only the institutional aspects of both countries, but also the construction of new dialogues with the media. For the current analysis, two Brazilian press agencies with different approaches to the Latin international scene were selected: O Globo and Carta Capital in their electronic versions between the years 2012 and 2016. Periods which had marked by the impeachment events in Paraguay, initially, of President Fernando Lugo; then in Brazil, in the second government of President Dilma Rousseff. In relation to these episodes, they have fomented diverse debates and political questions about this conjuncture experienced not only by these two countries, but also for the survival of the formally democratic regimes in Latin American as a whole. From this scenario we initially carry out an analysis of the approaches carried out by both journals in relation to Latin American political events. In the second part, the article selected a set of journalistic reports related to the aforementioned events through a comparative examination. Since then, the immigration of these populations had been growing and it has become the main foreign contingent in Brazil throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
