This explosive proliferation of the digital media without appropriate management mimics its exploitation. Presently, the multimedia search and retrieval are an active research dilemma among the academia and the industry. The online data repositories like Google, YouTube, Flicker, etc. provides a gigantic bulk of information but findings and accessing the data of interest becomes difficult. Due to this explosive proliferation, there is a strong urge for the system that can efficiently and effectively interpret the user demand for searching and retrieving the relevant information. In order to cope with these problems, we are proposing a novel technique for automatic query interpretation known as the Semantic Query Interpreter (SQI). SQI interprets the user query both lexically and semantically by using open source knowledge bases i.e. WordNet and ConceptNet. Effectiveness of the proposed method is explored on the open-benchmark image data set the LabelMe. Experimental results manifest that SQI shows substantial rectification over the traditional ones.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"343 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133039444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This proposed algorithm relies on converting the codes into XML through Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) algorithm followed by applying a modified difference algorithm using a separate chaining within a hash table to extract the syntax differences between code versions. This proposed algorithm is implemented as a web page interface to enable a quick client server interaction with the use of some existing tools based on Google Web Toolkit (GWT), Asynchronous JavaScript, and AJAX platform. Inverse dynamics control is a well-known conventional motion control strategy for manipulators which ensures global asymptotic stability for fixed symmetric positive definite (proportional and derivative) gain matrices. In this paper, a supervisory hierarchical fuzzy controller (SHFC) for tuning the Proportional and Derivative gains according to the actual tracking position error and the actual tracking velocity error. Numerical simulations using the dynamic model of three DOF planar rigid robot with uncertainties show the effectiveness of the approach in trajectory tracking problems. Performance indices i.e. integral absolute error (IAE) and integral time multiplied absolute error (ITAE) are used for comparison.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130452479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previously, a segmentation stage is necessary to obtain correctly and quickly the glottal space from healthy and pathological vocal folds video sequences captured by the laryngoscope. The designed segmentation method combines Gabor filtering and Chan-Vese algorithm. To evaluate the quality of the segmentation algorithms some parameters have been measured: the segmentation of the region of interest, the frames incorrectly segmented (in %) and the number of iterations used by the designed algorithm (in %). This study is specifically focused on measuring the opening angles in healthy and vocal folds with paralysis. This kind of parameters help the specialist to express a diagnosis based on something more robust than the observation of medical images. It shows a great advance in design, and in the nearby future, a complete method to diagnose vocal folds pathologies.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"5 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132581116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the proposed algorithm addresses the classification of 2FSK, 4FSK, 8FSK, 2PSK, 4PSK, 8PSK, 16QAM, 32QAM, 64QAM, and OQPSK using two features: Dissimilarity in constellation diagram for classification of PSK/QAM signals and spectral peaks for classification of FSK signals with the use of both Decision Tree (DT) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers. The robustness of proposed algorithm is tested against noise power and changes in noise model. Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and Bi-kappa noise models are considered in this work, as both exist in HF band.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115867248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research paper presents a proposed scheme for medical image compression based on hybrid compression technique (DWT and DCT). The goal is to achieve higher compression rates by applying different compression thresholds for the wavelet coefficients of each DWT band (LL and HH) while DCT transform is applied on (HL and LH) bands with preserving the quality of reconstructed medical image. The retained coefficients are quantized by using adaptive quantization according to the type of transformation. Finally the entropy coding (variable shift coding) is used to encode the quantization indices. Experimental results show that the coding performance can be significantly improved by the hybrid DWT-DCT algorithm.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122178386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a new algorithm for solving this problem using filter decomposition approach. Our proposed algorithm uses an integrated cost function in which independence criterion is defined in frequency-domain. The parameters of demixing system are derived in time-domain, so the algorithm has the benefits of both time and frequency-domain approaches. Compared to the previous work in this framework, our proposed algorithm is the extension of filter decomposition idea in multi-channel blind deconvolution to the problem of blind source separation of speech signals. The proposed method is capable of dealing with both minimum-phase and nonminimum-phase mixing situations. Simulation results show considerable improvement in separating speech signals specially when the mixing system is nonminimum-phase.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127073847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to demonstrate the detailed steps of the scheme in a quick but convenient manner, Warnier-Orr representation of the proposed protocols is used. The proposed SMS based mobile banking scheme provides opportunity to every client of a financial institution to use modern facilities available nowadays via internet banking. The key advantage of our scheme is that the users do not need any sophisticated cellular phone or internet connectivity within the mobile handset. They can get major services, like balance enquiry, balance transfer between authenticated customers, and bill payment without going to the bank physically and saving the precious time. Security at the level of internet based communication between the mobile server and the banking server, which is beyond the control of the clients, is a crucial issue to be handled. In view of providing a high level of security, in addition to voice authentication, the digital audio watermarking technique is employed. There is no doubt that such a secured but easy to handle system can attract clients towards e-banking, especially in developing countries.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125744301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The high level semantic annotation (HLS) of resources in general and multimedia resources in particular, is a resilient job. The Progression in automatic annotation mechanisms have not been able to comprehend with adequately accurate results. To outfit multimedia (e.g. image/video) retrieval capabilities, digital libraries have hung on manual annotation of images. Providing a track to enact high level semantic annotation automatically would be more worthwhile, efficient and scalable with magnifying image collections. This paper intent to equip the high level semantic annotation for images, and consequently, contributes to 1) calculating semantic intensity (SI) of each object in the image depicting the dominancy factor, (2) image similarity on the bases on metadata tag with the images, and (3) clustering approach based on the image similarity to tag set of images with a high level semantic description with their calculated similarity values.
