Altitude information is one of the important parameter computed by the ADC. Accuracy of the altitude corrected using tables or charts showing the actual corrections in altitude information special to aircraft type. This correction is important in any high performance and jet aircraft. In order to correct these imperfections, certain calibrations need to be made within the ADC. In this paper, artificial neural networks (ANNs) are used to calculate altitude information more easily and accurately using data obtained from tables formed under standard atmosphere conditions.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"236 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116388635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this approach, a Centroid Neural Network (CNN) with a metric of line segments is utilized for connecting low-level linear structures or grouping similar objects. The proposed an approach, called hierarchical clustering method, utilizes the fact that rooftops of a building are about the same height and perform clustering process with candidate 3-D line segments with similar heights. Experiments are performed with a set of high resolution satellite image data. The results show that the proposed hierarchical clustering method can remove noisy segments such as shade lines efficiently and find more accurate rectangular boundaries.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"507 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123565798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recurrent neural network adopted in this scheme is the Bilinear recurrent neural network. The M-BRNN is a combination of several Bilinear Recurrent Neural Network (BRNN) models. Each BRNN predicts a signal at a certain resolution level obtained by the wavelet transform. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed M-BRNN-based predictor, experiments are conducted on the Wolf sunspot series number data and the resulting prediction accuracy is compared with those of conventional MultiLayer Perceptron Type Neural Network (MLPNN)-based and BRNN-based predictors. The results show that the proposed M-BRNN-based predictor outperforms the MLPNN-based and BRNN-based predictors in terms of the Normalized Mean Squared Error (NMSE).","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128617888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus achieving data transmissions between wireless nodes in MANETs with improved QoS parameters become a challenging issue. To achieve this one has to concentrate on the routing protocol they choose. In our paper we proposed an algorithm to provide improved quality of service via hybrid routing protocol-Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP). We have considered two reactive routing protocols Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) as reference for analyzing ZRP by considering route acquisition delay and quick route reconfiguration during link failure. These parameters viz., route acquisition delay and quick route reconfiguration have their impact on increase in end to end delay, this automatically decreases the number of packets received thus the throughput. We used well known network simulator QualNet version 4.5 to compare QoS parameters viz., throughput, number of bytes received, number of packets received, average end-to-end delay and the time at which first packet is been received for DSR, AODV and ZRP.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124600907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This facial image can be extracted blindly from the watermarked image without any prior knowledge about the background image (blindly). More over the proposed technique can still deliver an extracted face image even in the presence of noise, compression or cropping of the watermarked image, but with some visual quality degradation. This embedding/extraction methodology is fake-free and robust against compression, noise and cropping attacks. The proposed approach consists of an insertion part and an extraction part. The proposed approach is based upon the natural preserve transform technique that achieves a balance between energy concentration and energy distribution; hence it is best used for watermarking images. Extensive simulation results on several facial and background images, that demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique, are illustrated in comparison with current watermarking methods in the literature.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128840628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our design supports real-time computation of a two-dimensional image from a matrix of echo pulses and their corresponding response values. Components of this design include: (a) central processing pipeline to perform back projection calculations, (b) pre-fetch cache to minimize external memory access latency, (c) memory bridge that serves as the primary on-chip storage for pulse data, and (d) a pixel queue to direct image data in and out of the pipeline. Design parameters may be adjusted to achieve optimum performance, and multiple instances of this design may be replicated on-chip to achieve prespecified performance objectives. We provide a complexity analysis as a function of the input and output parameters. Simulation results based on an implementation of this design show that our design achieves 160 GFLOPs per instance on a simulated Altera Stratix III EP3SL150 FPGA, and scales well for output image size ranging from 500 × 500 pixels to 5,000 × 5,000 pixels.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"368 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114859556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The underwater acoustic communication is affected by many factors such as; Doppler spread (so high than that for the radio frequency's communications), noise and multi-path. Any classification technique, applied to recognize the most popular modulations' types used in underwater environment such as PSK, FSK and OFDM, should take these elements into consideration to mark the best performances. First, we present the two algorithms to identify automatically the type of the modulated signals. In the second part, we calculate the probability of correct classification to evaluate their performance.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121868809","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed system is implemented using two-dimensional space optics symbolic correlator. Also in this paper, an optoelectronic system for a parallel inference engine is presented. The proposed optical inference engine infers conclusions to queries by representing knowledge (facts and rules) in 2D space using a matrix-like formulation. Performance evaluation algorithms for both search and reasoning are presented. Performance enhancement technique is also discussed in this paper. It proposes a modified Gaussianization technique for recovering PNLBSS systems. The proposed technique overcomes the failure of classical Gaussianization schemes to work properly in some PNL mixture with severe nonlinearity characteristics. It is found that the failure is due to the multi-modality of the probability distributions (pdf), of the received nonlinear mixture. In order to estimate the eceived pdf, the paper proposes an accurate nonparametric evaluation of the signal's pdf and its entropy functions . The pdf estimation is based on using Bspline wavelet transform as the smoothing filter for the data histogram distribution. The paper also proposes a pre-mapping scheme that transforms multi-modal pdf to a uni-modal one, and thereby makes them Gaussianable. Several illustrative examples are given, to verify the ability of the proposed technique to estimate signal's pdf, recover PNLBSS mixture with severe nonlinearity characteristics.","PeriodicalId":308189,"journal":{"name":"The 10th IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology","volume":"224 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128884857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
