The reason is that water is needed in people's lives, in industry and in other sectors of every country's economy. Because of the many studies that point to climate change occurring on planet Earth, there is increasing discussion about measures that could improve the condition of planet Earth and slow down the predictions regarding climate change, as well as adaptation to the already ongoing climate change. In connection with the above, rainwater management has become a crucial topic not only in the Czech Republic in recent years. The fundamental disruption of the natural hydrological cycle is caused by urbanization, the rapidly increasing rate of land consolidation and the expansion of cities and towns, which is currently a strong trend. Therefore, finding new tools and procedures for effective rainwater management is essential, while it is already possible to use many different tools and measures. One of the important economic tools is direct support in the form of projects that financially support modern and, at the same time, sustainable practices for rainwater management. The contribution focuses on direct support that is provided and used in the Czech Republic. First, the position of direct support in a set of other tools supporting efficient rainwater management is presented. Furthermore, specific possibilities of direct support are specified. In the application part of the contribution, attention is focused on using direct support in the Czech Republic. At the end of the contribution, the findings are summarized, and a discussion is opened for the future development of the monitored tool.","PeriodicalId":30792,"journal":{"name":"Trendy v podnikani","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69081801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the resource-based view, social capital is understood as a critical resource and building block for international competence. A special focus is put on how the digitalization of social networks has changed the playing field. Drawing from an analysis of social networks, the interplay of resources, capabilities, and competence, the construct of internationalization, and an understanding of the consequences of digitalization, a conceptual model is proposed. One of the key hypotheses deducted from this model is that the digitalization of social networks results in an accelerated internationalization of startups. Faculty of Economics of the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň joined forces with the Institute of Technology and Economics in Ceske Budějovice in the project “Knowledge-intensive services sector adaptation to the conditions of Society 4.0” supported by the programme ETA of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. This contribution summarizes the research results of the completed first phase of the project: the development of two studies focused on identification, analysis and evaluation of methods and tools for knowledge intensive services adaptation and catalogue of requirements to competencies and skills to the changing jobs. Those studies were complemented by the questionnaire research among the relevant companies in Plzeň and South Bohemia regions followed by semi-structured interviews with managers of selected companies. The presented findings, observations, recommendations and feedback from business practice form the basis for the second phase of the project, which is focused on creating a methodology for adapting small and medium-sized enterprises in the services sector to the conditions of Society 4.0.","PeriodicalId":30792,"journal":{"name":"Trendy v podnikani","volume":"10 1","pages":"9-19"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69079862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite their importance as both employers and producers/service providers, research on these firms, analyzing their innovative behavior or comparing it with other forms of companies, has often been describing them as more conservative and less risk-raking, generating thus less innovation compared with other types of businesses. The goal of this study was to analyze the scope innovative activities in family owned companies on the basis of an empirical qualitative survey, founded on descriptive multiple-case study analysis of fifteen small, locally operating family owned firms in retail and service-industry, which have successfully survived 5 or more years in business. It used semi structured interviews with family owners and focused on identifying their attitudes to innovation as well as their skills to apply innovations of various types, important for their market competitiveness. The results of the survey, contrary to some earlier findings pointing to family firms ́ conservativeness, showed that these firms, due to their specific organizational culture, rely on innovations substantially, though the main focus of their innovations tends to be on product/technological changes as well as innovations in clients ́ relations.","PeriodicalId":30792,"journal":{"name":"Trendy v podnikani","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69079099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It provides knowledge-intensive inputs to other entities in the private and public sectors. It deals with activities concerned primarily with human capital, thanks to the knowledge and skills of employees who are available to other companies. The aim of the article is to estimate the Cobb-Douglass production function for the knowledge intensive services sector and to compare it with the production function of the manufacturing sector which is one of the decisive sources of gross domestic product. Data for the period 1995-2018 in the annual frequency come from the database of the Czech Statistical Office. The output of the industry is measured as gross output at current prices, the amount of capital expressed by means of Gross fixed capital formation and work as employment in the sector. The change in capital per worker has the highest impact on output in the case of the manufacturing industry, which is dependent on physical capital. In the case of the fields of information and communication activities and professional, scientific and technical activities, the increase in the capital adequacy of work will be reflected in a lower increase in output per worker. These sectors are linked to human capital, so the non-inclusion of human capital in the production function leads to misleading results.","PeriodicalId":30792,"journal":{"name":"Trendy v podnikani","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69079443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These measures can quantify the risk of unexpected changes within a given period. In this paper, we examine the market risk of four stock indices: the Czech PX, the Austrian ATX, the London FTSE, and the American S&P 500. First, the returns of these indices are approximated using two distributions showing semi-heavy tails: a t- distribution and a normal inverse Gaussian distribution. For comparison, the normal and empirical distributions are also included since they often work as convenient alternatives. Subsequently, the VaR99 and CVaR97.5 values corresponding to four candidate distributions are calculated for each index. We also analyze the ability of theoretical distribution to approximate the left tail behavior of stock market indices returns. It turns out that the normal distribution is not suitable for this purpose. Furthermore, it appears that CVaR97.5 is higher (in absolute value) for all indices than the corresponding VaR 99, which may require higher need for economic capital, which banks should allocate.","PeriodicalId":30792,"journal":{"name":"Trendy v podnikani","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69079605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lean management showed its deficiency in the form of low stock (JIT/JIS) already during the tsunami in 2011 in Japan, when the leader in LEAN Toyota withdrew from zero stock in order to be able to respond agilely to serious supply disruptions. The current unfavourable situation is a global problem that brings new requirements to ensure the competitiveness of companies. A possible response to this situation is provided in this article, which shows an example of the implementation of VSM (Value Stream Mapping) in a company operating in the automotive industry. VSM is based on the elimination of waste in the value stream, mainly in the case of material flow, which raises question of whether it is currently beneficial to eliminate stocks to a minimum. A new term VSM 4.0 has emerged, which is more suitable for current situation. It brings the benefits of digitization and industry 4.0 and aims to eliminate waste in information flows. The aim of this article is to elaborate a VSM map of the current and future state (VSD) and point out other possible savings in an optimized process thanks to VSM 4.0 so that the company is able to respond effectively to customer demands and maintain a competitive advantage despite the necessary stock levels in the warehouses.","PeriodicalId":30792,"journal":{"name":"Trendy v podnikani","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69081419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to maintain their position, companies invest in their employees, especially in their lifelong training in the field of ICT skills development. This paper examines how companies from the Visegrad Four countries are prepared for employee training using ICT. The aim of the paper is to examine the extent to which companies in these countries provide training to develop or improve ICT skills, what is the level of digital skills in each country and what proportion of companies employ ICT specialists. At the end of the paper, a linear regression is performed to confirm or reject the positive relationship between the three variables – Human Capital, Use of Internet Services and data about enterprises that provide training in order to develop or upgrade the ICT skills of their employees. Data from Community survey on ICT usage in enterprises were collected from Eurostat. Data on the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) were collected for comparative analysis. The results suggest that there is no positive relationship between ICT employee training and indicator Human Capital from the DESI index but there is positive relationship between ICT employee training and indicator Use of Internet Services.","PeriodicalId":30792,"journal":{"name":"Trendy v podnikani","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69079766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
