However, when dealing with dictionaries made out of thousands of words, sequencial search is no longer a valid strategy since we would end up with such a slow recognition system that would surely be of no practical use. One approach to solve this problem is the use of proximity indexes so that the most similar word can be found quickly. The question that inmediately arises is: What proximity index is the ideal one for our purpose?. In this paper we compare several proximity indexes in their ability to find the most similar word to the query utterance among those included in the dictionary using less time for that purpose. According to our experiments a permutant-based index requires less distance evaluations at searching to find the nearest neighbor so it is faster than the pivot-based indexes included in our experiments such as the Fixed Query Array (FQA), the Burkhard-Keller Tree (BKT), the Fixed Query Tree (FQT) and the Fixed Height Fixed Query Tree (FHFQT).","PeriodicalId":307120,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126440623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Within the Mexican Electrical Utility distribution area several indicators are used which help us to learn the performance in each one of the divisions and zones across the country such as: system average interruption duration index (SAIDI), line kilometers, users number, losses and so on. Apropriate decision making of actions to improve these indicators allows, by a continuous evaluation of them, to measure the impact and efectiviness of such actions. However, there exist methodologies which allow to assess their impact and, additionally, they identify those indicators which performs the worst and therefore are the ones which directly represent and opportunity area to improve. Tools such as Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Stochastic Frontier are used by regulator organisms wideworld for such assessment tasks. In this work we have used DEA to analyze the evolution of those indicators when structural changes in the Zitacuaro zone, at the distribution circuit level, took place. The results show the positive impact of these actions as well as the identification of opportunity areas to improve.","PeriodicalId":307120,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131040736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After comparations a novel control scheme using a single PI feedback-loop for abating reactive power is proposed. The simulation, mathematical model of the converter and the experimental results obtained from the laboratory-scale version of the DAB controller shows the performance of the proposal and its relative advantages.","PeriodicalId":307120,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126582596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, several experiments have been realized using observations obtained from a power transformer. The proposed strategy is to maximize the likelihood of convergence when searching for the model of a particular system. A traditional strategy for system identification in Genetic Programming is to take all the observations and evaluate the process of evolution to find a system model instance. Contrary to this, the proposed methodology is based on a partial subset of the observations, and then this subset is incremented until reaching the total set of observations. Furthermore, for comparison purposes we have used Eureqa, an open genetic programming based software tool for system identification.","PeriodicalId":307120,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"14 26","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120968674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The protection scheme is compounded of two algorithms; the first of them is a type D which is synchronization via GPS satellite and is used as the primary relay. The second algorithm uses a single end measurement and serves as a backup in case the primary relay fails. The contribution is twofold: first, we obtain the model of a composed propeller-engine system introducing the mechanical load of a turning propeller to the electro-mechanical properties of a Brushless Direct Current motor, to determine the total thrust and the load torque with respect to its angular velocity, and then, we present the results of a numerical simulation of its dynamical behavior under hovering conditions.
