The decoder, which can operate at HDTV pixel rates, was built as part of the Grand Alliance (GA) HDTV system. It is currently undergoing testing by the Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Service (ACATS). The hardware converts encoded bitstreams into displayable video signals. Various video and film frame rates are supported, and switching between all format and frame rate combinations is accomplished seamlessly. Various changes may happen within a single shot such as those related to camera operations, object movements, flashes, etc. Various similarities between different shots may also occur. Therefore, techniques based on interframe comparisons may result in detecting false cuts or missing true cuts if the appropriate threshold has not been chosen. In this paper, we propose a detection algorithm that understands and detects various changes within a shot in order to detect the cuts between separate shots.","PeriodicalId":306595,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of International Conference on Consumer Electronics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116882588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
