Wind integration causes power imbalances and power system dynamics leading to system instability. The SCIG based wind turbine requires reactive power for magnetization which causes shortage of reactive power in distribution system and hence causes losses that lead to instability of power system. The behavior of the system is analyzed with variation in wind speed, unbalanced and nonlinear loads and three phase fault. The DSTATCOM is being used to improve the performance of wind farm as per the standard of grid code. The grid code demands that power plant of any kind should support electricity network throughout their operation. The performance enhancement mainly involves the power quality issues and grid stability and fault ride through (FRT) capability. A complete power balance analysis of the proposed system is presented under different operating conditions.","PeriodicalId":305942,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123164779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approximation and detailed signals of wavelet transform have been used for detection of stator fault with a proposed simulation model. In the simulation model; the stator inter-turn fault has been created and diagnosed by the time domain and time-frequency domain approaches in the transient condition. Therefore; early fault diagnosis of the motor is possible and averted the motor before reaching in the ruinous conditions. As a result; the industries may save large revenues and unexpected failure conditions. The obtained results clearly demonstrate that the developed diagnostic technique may reliably separate stator faulty conditions from the healthy condition.","PeriodicalId":305942,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117247579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a brief overview of the basic concepts of clustering techniques proposed in last four decades and a quick review of different similarity measure has been done. K-means is implemented to cluster satellite image of city Mumbai (India) and standard image such as mandrill and clown in HSV color space. PSO is used to optimize clusters results from k-means and within-cluster sums of point-to-centroid distances are measured. The results illustrate that our approach can produce more compact and optimized clusters than the K means alone.","PeriodicalId":305942,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125094310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modulation technique used is for tracking maximum power point and also to converts dc from PV to ac for a resistive load. The sinusoidal level shift PWM method is used to generate the switching pulses for the MLI while modulation index for switching of MLI is controlled by incremental conductance algorithm. The proposed topology is compared with three well known basic MLI topologies on the basis of component used. As compared to generally used two stage conversion techniques this single stage system is having higher efficiency; reliability and reduced cost. The proposed MRAS is developed by using instantaneous and steady state values of a fictitious resistance (R) in the reference and adaptive models respectively. The optimization scheme generates the optimal level of rotor flux for machine operation and improves the efficiency of the drive system by bringing down the IM core loss. The developed overall scheme is immune to the stator resistance variation. Moreover, the unique formation of the MRAS eliminates completely the requirement of any flux estimation. Thus, the method is insensitive to the integrator-related problems like drift and saturation enabling an accurate estimation of speed even from zero to the rated speed. In this context, all the relevant studies are done in MATLAB/Simulink. A few experimental results are also presented to validate the simulation results.","PeriodicalId":305942,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122232347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application is needed for high brightness LED control for projection application. A pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme is used for LED brightness control. In order to control LED with better power quality a SEPIC converter is proposed as a power factor corrector which works in discontinuous output inductor current mode (DICM).The SEPIC PFC converter feeds constant dc voltage to bi-flyback DC-DC converter. The bi-flyback DC-DC converter supplies constant low voltage with isolation required to the forced cooling unit and the synchronous buck based constant current multi-string LED driving unit. The forced cooling unit is introduced to control LED temperature near ambient to increase life of LED and matching color. The synchronous buck based LED driver is used to control LED brightness and fulfills the constant current for LED driving. A prototype of the proposed LED driver is developed and experimentally verified. The power quality parameters of the proposed LED driver are evaluated at rated and light load conditions for universal AC mains (90 V-265 V). The PFC and total harmonic distortion (THD) are found within acceptable ranges of international harmonic standard IEC 61000-3-2.","PeriodicalId":305942,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129868543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study includes different lookup tables such as fast, slow regenerative fast and regenerative slow along with Noguchi's conventional lookup table. DPC has portrayed the benefits of simplicity, faster response, elimination of current controllers, and better sensitivity to variations in system parameters and load changes. The lookup table is the heart of this control technique. Hence, it is extremely vital to do in-depth investigation and analysis of switching tables to ensure optimal performance of DPC. With a view of this many pieces of research have been carried out but nowhere power quality of various lookup tables were analyzed at a single place, and optimal table concern with the power quality is justified. In our work, we have considered various lookup tables collectively from literature and their power quality analysis has been done for performance study of three phase PWM rectifiers controlled by DPC using MATLAB Simulink.","PeriodicalId":305942,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123657711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These converters are: non-isolated bi-directional buck converter (NBBC), non-isolated bi-directional boost converter (NBOC), non-isolated bi-directional fly back converter (NBFC), non-isolated bi-directional CUK converter (NBCC) and non-isolated bi-directional SEPIC converter (NBSC).In the renewable energy sources like PV and wind, wide input voltage variation due to the temperature and environmental conditions. Besides, production of renewable has been very less since it came in the field of power generation. Non-isolated dc-dc converters are suitable for low voltage range and it's fit for the dc micro grid voltage level. Moreover, either load side or source side get sporadic current in the primitive dc-dc converters and output voltage is negative with respect to the ground in CUK converter. Aforementioned problems are rectified by the non-isolated bi-directional SEPIC converter (NBSC). Items such as ideal efficiency, ripple factor of voltage, ripple factor of current, size and sophistication are calculated for them. On the other hand, their output current and voltages are obtained by the simulation with PSCAD software. A comprehensive comparison is done among these converter topologies on the basics of above mentioned items. It is found that non-isolated bi-directional SEPIC converter is best suited for the non-conventional energy generation plants.","PeriodicalId":305942,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121698893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
