In disasters and pandemics, the role of the stable and well-functional public social sector is of high importance and consequently, such systems could effectively decrease the aggravation of pandemics and disasters. Research findings observed that COVID-19 is a lethal unprecedented pandemic, that has challenged the social sector globally, particularly in developing countries. The findings of the study further revealed that Pakistan is also a developing country with a vulnerable social sector services system. Pakistan invests only 3.1 per cent of its total GDP in the social sector, far less than the average 4.5 per cent investment of contemporary developing countries in the sector. The worse is that a substantial breach between allocation and utilization has been observed. research study observed that vulnerable healthcare services, low-quality education, contaminated drinking water, poor sanitation and lingering poverty are the products of the neglected public social sector. Therefore on the bases of the findings of the study, it has been concluded that the combating capacity of fractured social sector services of Pakistan against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic is beyond its capacity.","PeriodicalId":305544,"journal":{"name":"Global Sociological Review","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115711467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a tool of expression, this can be used to raise socio-economic issues existing around us. This study reveals the importance of graffiti as a tool for expressing the significant issues of our society, specifically those in Pakistani Punjab. This paper collected a total of 16 images, further divided into two parts; the first part contains all images to reveal the very nature of graffiti as a tool to protest, criticise, and complain against social inequalities and social issues. On the other hand, the second sphere of collected images contains those images which are an expressive form of promoting gender stereotypes, racism, class conflict, and so on. Hence one can see how beautifully graffiti is working on both types as a tool of resistance and also as a medium of promotion.","PeriodicalId":305544,"journal":{"name":"Global Sociological Review","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132444787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study argues that Gramsci’s theory of Cultural Hegemony is not limited to Italian or Western societies, but it has great relevance with Asian societies as well. Gramsci exposes the manipulation and exploitation of the working class, hegemonic forces use various sources such as media, money and politics. The study aims to investigate a theory of cultural hegemony presented in Gramsci’s Prison Notebooks 1947 in Pakistani Media, cultural hegemony is used in the study as a theoretical framework. Media in Pakistan is used tactfully, to propagate the norms and culture of the status quo in Pakistan. The working class is in majority and their representation doesn't come into sight in almost all media forums. The researchers have focused on the frequency of published news stories, contributors of the news items; nature of coverage;contextualization and use of jargon in the published stories. The researchers applied the Quantitative Content Analysis to answer all the outstanding inquiries of this research project. Based on the data collected in February2019, the researchers found that both the newspapers played down the health-related coverage in their pages –besides relying on the same contributors to report it. The findings revealed that The News needs to bring more diversity in its coverage of different issues related to health, while Dawn needs to work on the language – by avoiding jargon. The Gatekeeping Theory guides the findings.","PeriodicalId":305544,"journal":{"name":"Global Sociological Review","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125601752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
