For buyers, they offer the ability to compare their purchase alternatives based on price, product features, and merchant reputation factors. For sellers, they provide a useful and more accurate information about potential customers and theirs needs which can directly affect sales. In fact, comparison-shopping websites mediate the interactions between customers and sellers in order to yield more efficient markets by increasing awareness of prices, product’s features and can encourage businesses to offer good value and more transparent pricing. In this paper, we have reviewed the role and usage of CSW in different markets with more focus on the challenges facing the comparing personal loans products in Saudi Arabia. That’s have results in a designing Personal Loans Comparison Tool (PLCT) that suits the Saudi market and comply with its regulations.","PeriodicalId":305464,"journal":{"name":"2018 21st Saudi Computer Society National Computer Conference (NCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129203452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, Vehicular traffic intersects at the junctions of the road and is controlled by the traffic signals. Traffic signs need a good coordination and control to ensure the smooth and safe flow of the vehicular traffic which can minimize the possibilities of traffic jams, caused by long delays of the traffic lights. The main objective of this study is to design a smart traffic monitoring system using wireless sensor network (WSN). WSN is an emerging wireless networking technology that support large scale monitoring of physical system. In this paper we propose a low cost solution for smart traffic monitoring using WSN. The proposed system is a demonstration of four junctions with Four unidirectional lanes. Each Lane is equipped with an ultrasonic wireless sensor node that is responsible for monitoring the traffic load in that lane. The recorded traffic loads from all lanes are further processed via a base station that is responsible for opening the traffic sign for Heavy loaded traffic lane. The hardware implementation of our proposed WSN has been done using Arduino microcontrollers and ZigBee transceivers. The wireless communication is based on IEEE 802.15.4 due its ultra-low power consumption. Compared to the current traditional traffic monitoring paradigms, the proposed system has more lower cost, easy-to-deploy, easy to maintain, and higher coverage area.","PeriodicalId":305464,"journal":{"name":"2018 21st Saudi Computer Society National Computer Conference (NCC)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117069002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper provides an overview of how a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) has been used jointly by an Irish university and a Saudi university to deliver the same Data Science masters postgraduate degree programme in both countries. Both universities recognise the importance of the application of theory via practical assignments and and continuous assessments are a key feature of the programme. Using the VLE, lecturers from both locations can share lesson materials, as well as a submission mechanism and rubrics for course assignments. This decreases the overheads involved in starting up a new programme, as well as providing a more sustainable mechanism for ensuring that the same content and standard is maintained across both institutions. Providing rubrics for students provides important clarity for them as to what is required for each assignment. Also, the use of rubrics in the VLE means that the lecturers can grade the assignments efficiently and effectively and facilitates the provision of timely feedback which is a key feature of good feedback. The VLE is also used to provide quizzes for formative assessments by students. These quizzes, which do not contribute to the students’ final mark, enable the students to test their understanding of a particular topic. The students can re-take the quizzes as often as they like and they are a good mechanism for raising students’ self-awareness of their own learning. This paper demonstrates the value for a Saudi university of using a VLE in an educationally valid and efficient manner.","PeriodicalId":305464,"journal":{"name":"2018 21st Saudi Computer Society National Computer Conference (NCC)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115371150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study sought to determine the level of computer-based ICT literacy and usage; and identify the associated constraints among social scientists in Nigerian higher institutions. Data were collected from 480 respondents who were selected via a multi-stage random sampling technique. Data collection instrument incorporated a computation of Computer-based ICT Literacy Coefficient (CILC) for each respondent as a function of ability to use ICT in course delivery, test/examinations, data collection and analysis, online discussion/seminar, and publishing. The instrument was pre-tested using the test-retest technique, yielding a coefficient r = 0.92 thus confirming its reliability. Having about average C ILC, respondents generally exhibited disparity in ICT literacy level on the basis of specialization, age, institution ownership, and qualification. Gender, years of job experience, and place of graduation had no significant correlations with CILC. The major constraints were acute power shortage, unstable/inadequate internet access, and inadequate institutional support. Recommendations were proffered based on the findings.","PeriodicalId":305464,"journal":{"name":"2018 21st Saudi Computer Society National Computer Conference (NCC)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129740938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of reconciliation of each of the three kinds of administrations viz. voice, information, video, amid change in remote advances, Bandwidth has turned into the most pivotal system asset that should be upgraded for these bandwidth hungry administrations. In multi-hop situations (in WMNs), execution relies upon the routing protocols to appropriately pick courses, given the present system conditions. To determine this issue, this paper proposes a load balancing routing algorithm, called LBRA, in WMNs to disperse the activity stack among different gateways. Through simulation, we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can disperse the traffic load consistently among various gateways and stifle the expansion in the routing path length at most 20% contrasted with the shortest path routing.","PeriodicalId":305464,"journal":{"name":"2018 21st Saudi Computer Society National Computer Conference (NCC)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122323741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
