Some people fear it, while others try to exploit it to realise their potential by creating jobs, transforming industries, providing education, promoting advances in healthcare, space technology, science, etc. \u0000Study design/methodology/approach: The study is based on a review of scientific literature in the fields of artificial intelligence, globalisation, economy and ethics. From that arise the question if we are ready for radical change. \u0000Findings: The emergence of new professions will require a societal strategy to retrain employees and define which jobs will be unnecessary. The critical question is who will take responsibility for changes, that unemployment does not increase due to new technologies. \u0000Originality/value: With the right approach, artificial intelligence can help and enable man, as an intelligent being, to devote himself to the more demanding tasks in the future.

Different types of side streams present various challenges and opportunities in terms of their reuse. Thus, it would be beneficial for these industrial side streams to be categorised according to their properties affecting their reuse potential. \u0000Study design/methodology/approach: The empirical data for this multiple case study was gathered from industries in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. Data collection included company visits, interviews, workshops, seminars, and the collection of existing documentation from the cases, and the data was collected by multiple investigators. The empirical data was analysed using descriptive qualitative methods. \u0000Findings: Similarities between industrial side streams of processes were found not to originate from either the industry the process is used in or the material used to process, but rather from the purpose of the process on a more general level. The created categorisation divided industrial side streams based on their origin into process residue materials, process residual energy, energy production residues and process residual structural components. \u0000Originality/value: This study provides a tool for the preliminary technical and economic analysis of business cases based on industrial side stream utilisation and deepens the understanding of reusing industrial side streams as raw materials. The created categorisation can distinguish relevant properties affecting each side stream’s reuse potential and guide the creation of business arising from their reuse.

The expectation of the workers today includes performing the tasks and learning while performing these tasks. Thus, the study attempts to develop a construct, based on the two cases from the Third Sector organizations. For this sector, due to the scope of work and limited resource, learning capability is essential for the success in its operations. This circumstance is essential for the construct development.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: The methodology is based on two cases in Thailand for social services. The case study is based on two complex problems which cannot be tackled by an organization or agency alone. Activities and work performed are examined. The commonality of these two cases is then identified with the support from literature reviews for the development of a construct.\u0000Findings: Learning has become part of the work performed. The contributors to workplace learning, based on two cases, are identified for the development of a construct. They are: workplace engagement, stakeholder engagement, clarity of roles and expectation, informal learning, and limited resources to support operations. When faced with complex problems, an organization cannot rely entirely on training to prepare its workforce.\u0000Originality/value: The construct can be a foundation for future study on workplace and human learning within an organization. Observing and retrieving key findings from the Third Sector for workplace learning should provide a credible basis for future studies. The reason is the need for the Third Sector to be creative in solving complex problems while meeting the expectation of the general public. The findings point to the importance of facilitating learning in a workplace which can be applicable to other organizations in the private and public sectors.

This paper assesses the knowledge sharing strategies used by members of Gitwe Farmers’ Cooperative Society and Coffee Research in Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to: establish the types of knowledge shared; examine the knowledge sharing methods; investigate the extent to which the knowledge shared is applied; analyse the factors that influence knowledge sharing between the farmers and the research institute; and to suggest measures to enhance knowledge sharing between them. The population of the study was 2181 consisting of coffee farmers, officials of Gitwe Farmers’ Co-operative Society and officers from the Coffee Research Institute. The study employed a mixed methods research approach. Qualitative data was collected through interviews while quantitative data was collected using questionnaires. Qualitative data was analysed thematically while quantitative data was analysed by descriptive statistics using Statistical Package for Social Studies (SPSS). The findings of this study if adopted are likely to improve the coffee farming methods by the farmers, improve coffee marketing strategies by the farmers and also manage coffee berry diseases among others.

Data were collected using the questionnaire asking the college students for their 1st and 2nd choices of classmates who they want to be in the same group. For data analysis, Gephi, an open source software is used for social network analysis (SNA) and graph visualization. \u0000Findings: According to the results, the most desirable students to work with and the least desirable students to work with are defined. The instructors can appoint the student who is the most desirable to work with into a position of influence in order to facilitate learning in the classroom to motivate inspiration during the study. For those students who the least desirable to work with, the instructors might make them gain more attention including giving them some roles or let them have more identity. According to SNA, the least desirable students to work with have low IT background for both course IO-001 and IO-002.
