This method is applied to a planar manipulator consisting of serially connected joint units with many proximity sensors. The sensor can measure the distance to an object in short range. A method of obstacle avoidance in long and narrow space like pipes is proposed. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the method.","PeriodicalId":301855,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 41st SICE Annual Conference. Instead of establishing a mathematical model, the vector quantization directly extracts characteristic vectors from sample data by optimized algorithms and uses these characteristic vectors as standard patterns to make fault diagnosis. An application to electromagnetic valve verified the effectiveness of this new method.","PeriodicalId":301855,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 41st SICE Annual Conference. This system measures the amount of food intake of each dish. which is put on the tray. Therefore, this system needs to extract dish image from the tray. In this paper, we propose a neural network algorithm (NN) for the dish extraction process. We expect the proposed method can extract the dish image accurately, even if the dish is over lapped partially with other dishes. We develop the mechanism of dish extraction by the NN and simulate it by using real data to show its effectiveness in practical use.","PeriodicalId":301855,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 41st SICE Annual Conference. However, a more general approach is given in this paper by employing frequency weighting, which offers flexibility in determining robustness sensitivity in certain frequency of interest. Using the projection in Krein space, we developed a weighted recursive H/sub /spl infin// filtering that computes the stationary point of certain weighted quadratic form corresponding to an H/sub /spl infin// norm of a transfer operator T(F). The solution is applied to the active noise cancellation problem, where it is used in ensuring the control signal to be inside the nominal frequency range of the actuators, and avoiding the nonlinearity effect caused by saturation. Experimental result shows the advantage of this weighted form. The proposed algorithm offers an alternative means in dealing with the wideband noise and actuator nonlinearity.","PeriodicalId":301855,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 41st SICE Annual Conference.
