This paper proposes a high performance visual categorization method, which is based on Feature Accelerated Segment Test (FAST) feature point detectors, Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) feature descriptors and Bag-of-Keypoints (BoK). Each feature descriptors were orthogonalized by applying the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to reduce the size of dimension. As a result, our proposed method has achieved the recognition rate of 69.5% and the performance of 43.1 ms on a PC in order to categorize one object in an image into traffic related categories, i.e. pedestrians, cars, bikes, bicycles, and so on. The comparison with conventional methods will be also discussed.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124204794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an novel image registration method, based on local SIFT operator and cross-correlation information. The cross-correlation information can discriminate local features that have similar local appearance. Moreover, the proposed image registration algorithm has better robust performance in matching under noise environments. Simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithm can give better image match than two related image registration algorithms under noise environments.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114340261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most important hyperspectral remote sensing image processing is spectral unmixing that is to decompose a mixed pixel into a collection of endmembers their corresponding abundance fractions. N-FINDR is one of the most classical and commonly used endmember extraction algorithms. However, it is a time-consuming task, even in the parallel version. This paper considers a new parallel N-FINDR algorithm, called iterative cascade parallel N-FINDR algorithm, which improves the performance of parallel N-FINDR. In experiment, our proposed algorithm demonstrates high performance for endmember extraction.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114395651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The framework applies pose prior knowledge into the pose estimation process of pictorial structure and get a good performance. This paper has three main research contributions: 1.Proposing a new silhouette extraction method based on color clustering analysis and foreground highlighting; 2.Proposing a hierarchical pose classification method to solve the pose-duality problem and a learning method for pose prior knowledge from training set; 3. Proposing the pose prior knowledge restricted image parsing process to make up the image information loss due to the inter-occluded between body parts and improve the estimated performance. Experiment results on estimating the human walking pose prove that the framework can evidently reduce the interference from background clutter and is able to estimate the reliable side view pose of human from still images.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"171 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114473741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the disadvantage of the PM model is tending to impair textures and details so that denoising is not sufficient in the whole process. For this reason, we present a novel texture preserving Perona-Malik (TPPM) models based on the local directional variance. In the TPPM model, the diffusion coefficient of the PM model is adaptively determined to be low diffusion in large variance domain and be high diffusion in low variance domain. The related parameters are studied. Comparative results on real image denoising demonstrate that our model outforms the PM model, classical total variational (TV) method, a wavelet-based method and a nonlocal means filter in signal-to-noise ratio. The proposed model is also competitive with other methods visually. Furthermore, the execution times are very fast.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115043647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the inappropriate edge estimation by gradient, some isolated noise points still exist and edge location is inaccurate. In this representation, isolated noise points and edges are distinguished by the significant difference of their “lengths”, which are computed by orthogonally projecting their pixels to the corresponding normalized gradient directions and recording the number of the same projections. Combining gradient and “length” to estimate edges, isolated noise points are further suppressed while edges are re-located and enhanced.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123492455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
