A cardiac non-moving phantom was scanned at various kV tube settings (80–120 kVp). A clear tendency was found for image noise to increase as tube kV decreases. No tendency was found for the calcium volume and mass score to vary with tube kV. Calcium measurements were not significantly affected by the choice of tube kV tube. The result of protocol setting of 100 kVp would be the best ideal scanning parameter in the study. The optimum scanning parameter was 100 Kvp, 250 ms, 75 mA, 1 mm collimation and the reconstructed image slice thickness of 1 mm. TLD-100s (thermoluminescent dosimety, TLD) were inserted into Rando phantom to evaluate the effective dose of each organ. The effective doses were 3.06 ± 0.20 mSv for females and 3.05 ± 0.20 mSv for males, respectively.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132674390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple subsets of pixels with partial overlap are selected from noisy image. The subsets of pixels are selected in such a way that every subset will have at least 20% different pixels compared to any other subset. Each subset of pixels is considered as vector of compressive samples from noisy image and a complete image is reconstructed in wavelet domain using compressive sensing reconstruction algorithm. The multiple images obtained from these subsets are merged using statistical techniques to obtain clean image. The proposed technique is tested on several images with different noise level and it was observed that proposed technique produced better denoising results compared to other denoising techniques using wavelets representation of noisy image.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134631733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model uses a Monte Carlo method simulates a random walk in three dimensions cloud for lightning-produce photons. It considers the various cloud geometries and microphysical characteristics, and simulates sources of emission with arbitrary spatiotemporal properties. The model treats the light propagation through clouds having a variety of shapes, sizes, and the optical depth and constructs the delayed and attenuated light curve. We find that the shape of the cloud, the cloud optical depth and the position of the event within the cloud, rather than the motion or extend of event, are the greatest determinants of the resultant distribution of photons on the top of cloud and required time.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127401828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method Ten healthy male subjects participated in this study. With elbow flexion muscle at 50% maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) to induce muscle fatigue, surface electromyographic signals (sEMG) was collected from biceps brachii (BB) and brachioradialis (BR). sEMG was divided into two segments and coherence analysis was conducted between BB and BR electromyographic signals in both segments. Result A significant increase in EMG-EMG coherence in the beta frequency bands was observed in the second half of the fatiguing contraction compared to the first half of the fatiguing contraction. No significant difference was observed in the tremor and gamma band coherence between the first and the second half of the fatiguing contraction. Conclusion During the sustained isometric fatiguing contraction following the target force level at 50% MVC, a significant difference was found between the first and second half of the fatiguing contraction in Beta Band, which indicates the increased coupling between synchronized cortical neurons and the motoneuron pool. This suggests an increase in common neural input across these muscles, which may be cortical in origin.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127415718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 3G transmitting module in the system can transmit patients' real-time physiological data and location data collected by plug-in monitors to 3G mobile networks, then to the internet. Through socket and multithreading program, the server program can actualize the following functions: medical treatment and GPS data's receiving, disposing, displaying and marking on the Google Earth map. At the same time, the monitoring information can be shared by collecting hospitals' LAN (local area network) and HIS(Hospital Information System). It turned out that the system is stable and inexpensive. In order to further study the features in normal and pathological ECG signals with multifractal analysis, drugs experiments were conducted on mice. Mice received various drugs to imitate different physiological and pathological conditions, and the distributions of the singularity strength range with different scale factors from the 12-lead ECG signals of healthy and drug injected mice were calculated, using coarse-grained approach and wavelet transform respectively. The results showed that there is a certain range of characteristic frequency in the curve of singularity strength range versus scale factors from the multiscale multifractal analysis results on mice ECG signals. In this range, the singularity strength range Δα gets the maximum value, which can best represent the complex fractal structures and dynamic characteristics of the heart, and be most sensitive to distinguish various physiological and pathological states.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115528355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we connect C-arm system vibrations to Image Quality (IQ) deterioration for 2D angiography and 3D cone beam X-ray imaging, using large Flat Panel detectors. Vibrations will affect the projected image sharpness and the projected image position. The former will appear as blur and the latter as image shift for the 2D projection radiography process. If this phenomenon is not corrected in the post processing (pixel shift), it will manifest as subtraction registration artifacts. We will model and verify the effect of vibrations in 2D subtracted and non-subtracted flat panel imaging. Two effects on 3D IQ are modeled: (1) vibrations during an actual acquisition run inducing movement blur and (2) C-arm movement calibration errors in the iso-center giving remnant blur. The model establishes a relation between vibration amplitudes and image quality for dominant system Eigen-frequencies. The validity and accuracy of the model for 2D and 3D imaging modes is supported and demonstrated by experiments and even provides sufficient quality for defining image quality requirements.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"222 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115532573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, some heuristics are incorporated into Criminisi's algorithmic framework for performance enhancement. Specifically, (1) variable rather than fixed patch size is used to keep the similarity between the current patch to be inpainted and its exemplar above some prescribed level; (2) the confidence value to be updated of the newly inpainted patch is made explicitly dependent on current searching accuracy. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the modifications made.","PeriodicalId":301048,"journal":{"name":"2011 4th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124165944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
