This appearance contributes to the positive attitude of the audience and judges towards the respective athlete, but on the other hand, it helps in the execution of the complex elements of the combination. PURPOSE. The aim of the present study is to compare the body composition and somatotype of female artistic swimming and gymnastics and to evaluate lower limb strength and breath holding times in both groups. METHODS. Six female gymnasts (11.2 ± 2.6 years) and 6 artistic swimmers (11.2 ± 2.2 years) participated in the study. To achieve this goal, the female athletes visit the Center for Functional Research in Sports and Kinesitherapy at SWU “Neofit Rilski” once, where the research is carried out. RESULTS. The results of the conducted research show that even at this early childhood age, female athletes in both sports have received the appropriate adaptations characteristic of the given sport. Gymnasts have developed good explosive power of the lower limbs, with their vertical jump averaging about 10 cm greater than that of swimmers. While swimmers, on the other hand, hold their breath for a longer period of time, on average about 37 seconds longer than gymnasts. CONCLUSIONS. Properly targeted training in the given sport leads to appropriate adaptations that favor the performance of the athlete.","PeriodicalId":30048,"journal":{"name":"Trakia Journal of Sciences","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135059941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material and methods: An experiment with 56 weaned Danube White pigs divided into 4 groups of 14 was carried out in Agricultural Institute – Shumen. The experiment started at 8,364 - 8,457 kg live weight and finished at 30,786 - 31,714 kg live weight, with a duration period of 56 days. During the first 14 days after weaning, the pigs from the third and fourth group were fed with limited ration – 20% less from that of first and second group. After that period, the reduced ration for the previous period was raised for the pigs from third and fourth group. Throughout the entire test period, pigs from the first and third groups received a compound feed of 18,50% protein and those from the second and fourth groups with 16,50%. Results: The limited ration provides up to lower growth rate in the first 14 days as feed conversion ratio is the same as that of animals fed ad libitum. Animals fed restricted and ad libitum with 16.50% protein in the compound feed had a similar average daily increase but did not achieve the growth rate of high-protein-fed pigs (18.50%) over the whole experimental period. Better daily gain and feed conversion ratio was found in pigs fed ad libitum with a high protein level (18.50%) in their compound feeds. Conclusions: The obtained results can find applications in solving various practical problems.","PeriodicalId":30048,"journal":{"name":"Trakia Journal of Sciences","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135844447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More than ten years of clinical experience with this group of drugs provides evidence of their efficacy and good tolerability especially in patients at risk of hypoglycemia. DPP-4 inhibitors act by increasing the levels of the incretins glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide (GIP) and thus augmenting glucose-induced insulin secretion. The enzyme DPP-4 degrades plenty of substrates including chemokines, cytokines, and neuropeptides. Thus the inhibition of DPP-4 may affect many biological and pathological processes. Although rarely DPP-4 inhibitors have been reported to induce the development of infections, heart failure, liver injury and pancreatitis. The long-term effects of DPP-4 inhibition on the immune function are still not clarified. The close monitoring of polymorbid patients using DPP-4 inhibitors, and the reporting of possible adverse reactions associated with these drugs is warranted.","PeriodicalId":30048,"journal":{"name":"Trakia Journal of Sciences","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136203375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To evaluate the incidence of urticarial adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers, patient demographics, drug causality, and treatment outcome. METHODS. An epidemiological study including 154 patients with urticarial ADRs, out of a total of 3554 hospitalized patients in the Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology, for a 7-year period. ADRs were defined according to the WHO and the Naranjo algorithm was used for case drug causality assessment. RESULTS. Urticarial ADRs were found in 4,1% of the study population (≥ 18 years), the average age was 50,2 years, and female prevalence was established. Concomitant cardiovascular diseases were found in 45,2% of the patients and 30,1% declared using ACE inhibitors and/or beta-blockers. The suspected drug was withdrawn, and alternative therapy was recommended by a cardiologist. The Naranjo algorithm showed 4.5% “definitive”, 45,5% “possible”, and 50% “probable” urticarial ADRs. Systemic antihistamines were administered to all patients and single short corticosteroid courses were added in 81,8%. Clinical recovery was achieved in 59% of the patients and improvement in 41%. CONCLUSIONS. The need for drug therapy and hospitalization in severe cases of urticarial ADRs to ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers are factors contributing to the overall socio-economic burden of ADRs.","PeriodicalId":30048,"journal":{"name":"Trakia Journal of Sciences","volume":"210 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135913103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 4599 goats were included in the clinical investigation. The changes in concentrations of some hematological and biochemical parameters were evaluated using 20 naturally infested animals divided into 2 equal groups – group 1 (infested with Bovicola caprae) and group 2 (infested with Linognathus stenopsis). Blood samples were collected before the treatment with Eprinomectin and on the 30th and 60th-day post-treatment (DPT). After sampling, the blood was examined for changes in the complete blood cell count including RBC, HGB, HCT, RBC indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW), WBC, leukocyte differential count as well as some biochemical parameters (Ca, P, Fe, total protein, albumin, bilirubin, ASAT, ALAT, AP). Clinical demonstrations in infested goats were not specific, represented with rubbing, scratching, broken hairs, alopecia, skin secretion, inflamed lesions (papules), crusts, and keratinization. The changes found in the hematological and biochemical parameters were normocytic hypochromic anemia (p˂0.001) and hypoferremia (p˂0.01) in the goats infested with sucking lice (L. stenopsis) and leukocytosis (p˂0.001), hyperproteinemia (p˂0.001) and hyperalbumineamia (p˂0.05) in the animals infested with biting lice (B. caprae). This is a rare, usually undiagnosed condition, in which significant organ damage and/or dysfunction is absent, the finding is defined as functional and the patient is referred for treatment of his neurosis in a psychiatric practice. The complaints include feeling of arousal and tingling in the genital area, which is not accompanied by subjective sexual arousal and is a harrowing experience for the patient. Masturbation and sexual activity do not manage to affect the symptoms. Symptoms of restless leg syndrome are often involved too, which puts the hypothesis for a common etiology of both of the syndromes that is associated with the dopaminergic mediation. In the literature, there are individual cases of patients with the syndrome, who have been administrated treatment with pramipexole. The patient in the present case report has also undergone treatment with pramipexole and has been observed for a period of two years.","PeriodicalId":30048,"journal":{"name":"Trakia Journal of Sciences","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136202583","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
