For many navigation and positioning applications, Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) and Differential code-based GNSS (DGNSS) can offer substantial improvement in the positioning accuracy. Finland is covered by EGNOS (European Geostationary Overlay Service) even though it is lying at the north-east margin of the coverage area. In addition to EGNOS, the neighboring SBAS system SDCM (System for Differential Corrections and Monitoring) has monitoring stations near Finland. In this work, the researchers at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI) conducted some field experiments with mentioned SBASs and National Land Survey of Finland's (NLS) DGNSS service in order to find out reachable accuracies and rough estimates of availability in varying positioning conditions. Interest to SDCM grew due to its vicinity from Finland and also partly due to its ability to provide GLONASS corrections which EGNOS has not yet been able to offer.","PeriodicalId":300111,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Navigation Conference (ENC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122816757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new generation of low-cost MEMS accelerometers, which is expected to breakthrough in the next years, may enable gyro-free navigation in small platforms such as UAVs, ground vehicles and small planes. In this work we analyze a Gyro-Free Inertial Navigation System (GF-INS) employing four triads of accelerometers in a Distributed Redundant IMU configuration (DRIMU). We investigate the statistical properties of the angular velocity estimator by means of simulations and we speculate on the noise level requirements for the accelerometers that would allow a gyro-free navigation system to match the performances of a conventional IMU. Furthermore, we investigate the performance of using the gyro-free angular velocities estimator in combination with GNSS for navigation in a classical error-state EKF.","PeriodicalId":300111,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Navigation Conference (ENC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117247114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a Frequency Divided Adaptive Kalman Filter is proposed to implement guidance law recognition. In FD-AKF, a Low Pass Filter is applied to extract the noise directly from state vector and measurement vector, and estimate the co-variance matrices of observation noise and prediction noise online. Without intertwined iterating equation of prediction noise and observation noise, FD-AKF decouples the estimation on prediction noise and observation noise, and thus avoids the risk of bias and divergence. Simulation results show that, FD-AKF improves robustness of guidance recognition significantly over Kalman Filter and Sage-Husa.","PeriodicalId":300111,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Navigation Conference (ENC)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115801077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the growing number of satellite constellations, the task of the GNSS navigation is to deal with the differences among systems but, on the other hand, more great levels of integrity and satellite visibility can be expected. GNSS navigation applications have difficulties in signal degraded scenarios where the GNSS solution can be degraded by errors such as multipath and signals being obscured. RAIM (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring) is a method necessary for assessing integrity performance levels mainly in safety-critical applications. Classical RAIM techniques are based on the assumption model of a single outlier in the measurements, but with a future of higher satellite availability and for navigation conducted in urban canyon scenarios, the single outlier assumption is unrealistic. Therefore, reliability monitoring techniques need to be modified to be suitable for use cases with high signal degradation levels. The FDE (Fault Detection and Exclusion) schemes analysed in this research for reliability monitoring are the “Observation Subset Testing” and a modified approach based on a w-test (called in this paper Multiple Faults De-weighting-MFD). In order to improve their performance a novel Channel Quality Index (CQI) parameter was used to describe the measurement confidence and quality. To validate the proposed approaches, tests have been performed using simulated data with GPS, Galileo and BeiDou signals in a multipath environment.","PeriodicalId":300111,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Navigation Conference (ENC)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116459585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of GNSS is expected to grow significantly due to improvements in positioning performance, with positive impacts such as: finding the optimal route; improving traffic and travel efficiency as well as safety and security; reducing congestion and optimizing fuel consumption. The deployment of mission critical applications needs high reliability in the positioning information. However, the positioning reliability is not easy to achieve because of the heterogeneous quality of the GNSS signal, which is highly influenced by the road environment and the operational scenario of the application. It is important to understand the requirements and performance GNSS can achieve for various road transport applications. This paper is presenting the SaPPART COST Action on the Satellite Positioning Performance Assessment for Road Transport. It introduces the goal and the framework of the Action with the research programme and some related activities dedicated to dissemination and supporting standardisation working groups.","PeriodicalId":300111,"journal":{"name":"2016 European Navigation Conference (ENC)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130254118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
