It is argued that violence in that state is studied primarily from a broad perspective. However, regardless of the study perspective, there is a close relationship between violence, organized crime, and drug trafficking. Two lines of research little explored in the literature are proposed: the first studies risks associated with the analysis of violence(s) in each context; the second analyzes violence(s) from a gender perspective. Violence, for its part, has been analyzed in a broad spectrum that ranges from an instrument of domination –for those who suffer it– to an instrument of action –on the part of those who exercise it. However, there are few analyses that observe how religion, addictions and violence are empirically interrelated in the subjective experience of victims and perpetrators of violent acts. Using a qualitative study based on narrative interviews and participant observation, we analyze the way in which violence is re-signified through religion in three rehabilitation centers for drug addicts located in the northern border region of Mexico. Thus, we will analyze some of the technological, bureaucratic, and legal-punitive devices deployed in the border areas from the outlook of the theoretical proposals of the critical border studies approach, focusing on the exceptionality of the actions of sovereign power and/or daily securitarian practices. The methodology is based on the analysis of the principal components and clusters to study 23 variables theoretically linked in the 32 states of the country. The results allow identifying five clusters; each group presents internal similarities from their social and media context and notable dissimilarities from the rest of the clusters. The central contribution is to describe the differences in which some indicators of media development are presented in several regional contexts of the country. In conclusion, the progress made formulating an evaluative model for Mexico is highlighted, and the limitations of the metrics used are recognized. Some subnational governments have approved innovative legislation on internal displacement due to a lack of regulation at a national level, expecting to provide a solution to such a critical problem. In this article, we analyze the legislation approved in Chiapas. We draw on institutional strength theory to argue that the political process in Chiapas delivered a weak, “aspirational” institution. Far from creating substantive change on this matter, it has only generated assistance-driven actions. Using a qualitative methodological design, this article analyzes testimonies from in-depth interviews with asylum-seeking women and lawyers who work in civil society organizations (CSOs). The findings highlight that, although asylum seekers left their country of origin fleeing violence, in Mexico they have found an occasionally more violent context where both governmental and organized crime actors intervene, promoting the transnationalization of violence. A large part of the affected population is vulnerable due to their age, comorbidities, and socioeconomic status. The objectives of this research are: 1) to estimate accessibility to public primary care units for older adults in Chimalhuacán through walking transfers, and 2) to identify the locations that increase, to a greater extent, the accessibility of this population to new primary care units. The proposed methodology combines two methods to achieve a more accessible, efficient, and equitable socio-spatial distribution of the healthcare system for older adults in a dense urban Mexican municipality. The results reveal inequalities in the accessibility of this group to healthcare units, and a local solution is proposed by increasing the service with six new facilities. A qualitative study was conducted using discourse analysis of 23 interviews with nursing staff in Baja California, Mexico. Two categories were identified: direct and indirect obstetric violence and institutional factors. The findings show that all study participants reported cases of obstetric violence against women. Factors such as the lack of medical equipment and trained professionals stand out as causes of stress that manifest as obstetric violence. Other causes are the culture of medicalization, limited knowledge of international and Mexican standards, and inadequate personnel training. In conclusion, it is essential to improve obstetric care by promoting the NOM-007-SSA2-2016 to achieve a woman-centered care model based on international recommendations. A concurrent mixed method organized in two parallel phases is used: quantitative and qualitative. The documentary research consisted of reviewing newspaper sources and public archives to identify the legally constituted cooperatives. Observation techniques and semi-structured in-depth interviews were used. The main results are the outline of the background of cooperativism in Ciudad Juarez, its contours, and its macroeconomic presence. It also analyzes the correspondence of the management, practices, and values of the cooperative universe and the ideology and proposal of the social and solidarity economy. As an exploratory study, this article contributes to the documentation, reflection, and research on this subject, since the performance, practices, values, and potential are Little known.
