However, there is no clear understanding of the possibility of implementing relay protection functions based on these devices when filtering electrical quantities signals. Since the technology of synchronized vector measurements is relatively young in the electric power industry, various studies are currently being carried out on the applicability of the PMU functions in relay protection. Moreover, new calculation algorithms implemented in these devices are proposed. There is an ever-increasing introduction of PMU at electric power facilities as part of the WAMS complex for collecting and analyzing information both online and for subsequent analysis in order to monitor network parameters and equipment. The problems of determining the type of disturbance from the measurements obtained by PMU installed at various points of the power grid are considered worldwide. It is advisable to consider the possibility of estimating the distance to the point of application of the disturbance.","PeriodicalId":299510,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Youth Scientific and Technical Conference on Relay Protection and Automation (RPA)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126021614","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most dangerous of single phase to earth faults is intermittent arc earth faults, which are accompanied by significant overvoltage in electrically connected network. In 6-10 kV distribution networks in the function of earth fault protection device during the impossibility of simple and sustainable zero sequence current protection devices, directional zero sequence current protection devices are commonly used. According to the data from operating experience the main disadvantage of some directional zero sequence current protection devices is refusal-to-operate possibility during internal faults and unnecessary operation during external intermittent arc faults. That is why, the research and substantiation of directional zero sequence current protection devices realization principles, which can provide high dynamic stability of protection operation is the relevant objective. The main tendency of development of relay protection equipment, including single phase to earth protection devices is associated with introduction of microprocessor technologies and digital signal processing methods. Thus, in this work the research of functioning of protection devices during transient modes is made for digital-based performance of zero sequence current protection devices.","PeriodicalId":299510,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Youth Scientific and Technical Conference on Relay Protection and Automation (RPA)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128073132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Disruption of the operating mode of power supply system’s leads to material damage to both consumers and suppliers of electricity. Minimizing interruptions and increasing the reliability of power supply to consumers is an urgent problem. Urban, rural, and industrial distribution networks of voltage level 6-35 kV are highly ramified and currently have a weak degree of observation and automation.","PeriodicalId":299510,"journal":{"name":"2020 3rd International Youth Scientific and Technical Conference on Relay Protection and Automation (RPA)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122227677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
