Since the technology of synchronized vector measurements is relatively young in the electric power industry, various studies are currently being carried out on the applicability of the PMU functions in relay protection. Moreover, new calculation algorithms implemented in these devices are proposed. There is an ever-increasing introduction of PMU at electric power facilities as part of the WAMS complex for collecting and analyzing information both online and for subsequent analysis in order to monitor network parameters and equipment. The problems of determining the type of disturbance from the measurements obtained by PMU installed at various points of the power grid are considered worldwide.
