To achieve self-adaptive locomotion, a sensor-driven snake-like robot SR-I has been developed. Such robot can achieve self-adaptive locomotion by coupling sensory information with the motion control system. The design of the mechanism and control system of this sensor-driven snake-like robot is presented in the paper. Based on the sensory information, the implementations of terrain-adaptive locomotion and collision-free locomotion are investigated respectively. In this paper, we design a shortest path with the least control effort for such a steerable needle, giving the start and the goal positions with or without obstacles. We assume that the environment is static and the motion of the needle is counted based on the state of the needle tip. Due to flexibility of the needle, the moving path is a curve instead of a straight line. We design the path in such a way that the path is within two parallel lines, and the optimal distance between the two lines is determined such that the length of the moving path of the needle is the shortest with the least control effort. Upon choosing the optimal distance between the parallel lines, we then proposed an algorithm to generate the needle path. Experiment shows that the noise subtraction result depends on the cross-correlation coefficient between FOG's output and coupler's free port signal. The variance of the noise would rise when cross-correlation coefficient is lower then 0.5 and reduce to 17.16% with crosscorrelation coefficient 0.91. The uniform design method was used to provide a series versions of an original project for experts to choose from. Their score of each version's attributes was gathered, and then entered in a new intuitionistic fuzzy matrix that was used to construct an overall expert opinion. The intuitionistic fuzzy hybrid geometric operator processed the evaluating matrix, ensuring the weights of experts' attitudes were counted in, as well as the weights of projects' attributes and the weighted vector of operator. In this way a final decision on ship's principal dimension was finally obtained. This technology has apparent advantages in the large-size applications, which is simple, low cost, high feasibility. In the system, the detection of ambient light and the adaptive control of IR LED can effectively enhance the adaptability of the touch screen in complex light environment via the MCU. In image processing, the image of foreground and background are segmented by Otsu's method with a coefficient. Integral projection is adopted to recognize the contact area. We employ the Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) to cluster the data sequence into three categories of signals, e.g. normal, patterns and events. The data sequence is then embedded into a Reconstructed Phase Space (RPS) which is topologically equivalent to the dynamics of the original system. We apply a hybrid method using Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Maximum a Posterior (MAP) to classify temporal pattern signals based on the event function. We performed two experimental applications using chaotic time series and Sludge Volume Index (SVI) series related to the Sludge Bulking problem. In resent years, different Pulse Decomposition Analysis (PDA) methods have been applied to DVP waveform analysis and clinical meaningful parameters have been obtained. All these methods decomposed single-cycle DVP into a fixed number (such as 2, 4 or 5) of individual pulses. In this paper, a Multi-Gaussian (MG) model is proposed to approximate DVP waveform using a variable number (4 or 5 in our study) of Gaussian pulses with normalized root MSE<2.0%. Unknown parameters in MG model are estimated by Weighted Least Squares (WLS) method. Performance of MG model and WLS are evaluated by fitting 80 DVP waveforms with four different types. Due to such a breakthrough compared to traditional endoscopy imaging modalities, this device with its size close to a small pill has seen its wide application in hospitals since it was approved for marketing in 2001. However, it is reported that the inspection of the video data produced in each test cost a clinician about two hours on average to examine. To mitigate such a burden for physicians, it is necessary to develop automatic video analysis techniques for CE video. Since a CE video has an average length of about 60,000 frames for each test, it may be beneficial to segment such a long video into meaningful parts. In this study, we investigate the possibility of applying video boundary detection methods for this purpose. Color and textural features are utilized to represent the visual content. The CE video boundary detection is then formulated as a problem of finding local maximal value along the dissimilarity curve for a CE video. Since a CE undergoes a chaotic motion originated from peristalsis of the digestive tract, motion analysis is further taken into account to refine the results produced in the above steps.
