This implementation consists of a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network for the distribution of cultural heritage digital images and Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies for the copyright protection of these digital images. In this approach, we design and implement a software in which each peer of P2P network performs the functionalities of three basic entities of a typical DRM system. That is, each peer of P2P network acting as Content Owner, as Trusted Third Party and as User, simultaneously. The Content Owner uploads cultural heritage images to P2P network, these images are at protected format. The protection of digital images is achieved with watermarking techniques and encryption techniques. The License Broker controls the usage of digital images and detects the infringement of copyright. The User performs a search to a list with the available cultural heritage images. Then, the User downloads the images that chooses and uses these images with the terms of usage license. The purpose of this implementation is the legitimate distribution of cultural heritage digital images in a P2P network. The legitimate distribution achieved with the use of DRM technologies. Finally, we are trying to achieve a distributed DRM and P2P architecture for our implementation.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"331 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113997183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We integrate a model-based planner with a distributed learning system based on reservoir computing, to yield personalized planning and resource allocations that account for user preferences and environmental changes. We demonstrate our approach in a real robot ecology, and show that the learning system can effectively exploit historical data about navigation performance to modify the models in the planner, without any prior information oncerning the phenomenon being modeled. The plans produced by the adapted CL fail more rarely than the ones generated by a non-adaptive planner. The distributed learning system handles the new learning task autonomously, and is able to automatically identify the sensorial information most relevant for the task, thus reducing the communication and computational overhead of the predictive task.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124154031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we focus on perfect smooth orthogonal drawings in which each edge is made of either a rectilinear segment or a circular arc. We prove that every 3-planar graph admits a planar perfect smooth orthogonal drawing. If we relax planarity constraints, we show that every graph of maximum degree 4 admits a (non-planar) perfect smooth orthogonal drawing. We demonstrate that there exist infinitely many planar graphs that do not admit planar perfect smooth orthogonal drawings under the Kandinsky model. Finally, we introduce classes of graphs admitting perfect smooth orthogonal drawings of different styles and study relations between these classes.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131017927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The network is formed by a large number of tiny sensors, randomly scattered over a circular area and the sink positioned at the center. The sensors produce data with the same rate and the data travels from the nodes to the sink in a multi-hop fashion, using a shortest path routing. The basic idea, in order to avoid the energy hole around the sink, is to equip each network area with so much energy as the traffic load of that area. Firstly, a pure analytical expression for the traffic load is derived and then, based on this expression, a non-uniform deployment is proposed, with variable surface density, for a certain number of dormant nodes. Each time an active node exhaust its battery, a near dormant node becomes active and takes its place. The proposed strategy improves the network lifetime by a factor of 50 and the energy utilization by a factor of 6, compared to a conventional network without dormant nodes.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131676225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents several approaches that need to be taken into consideration by a data analysis system designer who aims to obtain an advanced classifier that implements several extra functionalities. The engine presented in this paper is preliminary tested on real data obtained from Tesys on-line educational environment in an attempt to determine the most suitable tutors for currently existing students. Our goal is to build a Decision Tree classifier that accommodates data. This new data structure extends the functionality of a Decision Tree and is called DenseJ48. This new classifier implements efficiently several extra functionalities besides the core ones that may be used when dealing with data.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115528040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new approach, named virtual cost, integrates electricity price forecasting and load forecasting to obtain an optimal consumption pattern. The goal of virtual cost approach is to provide the springboard for automated consumption scheduling with minimum human intervention, while reducing the expenses for electricity purchasing. Towards that end, the proposed approach takes into consideration three factors: the anticipated electricity price for a day-ahead horizon, the respective anticipated load and an upper limit for expenses that is manually input by the consumer. Integration of these factors allows the intelligent meter through which the consumer is connected to smart grid to make decisions over load consumption scheduling aiming at reducing cost. The proposed approach is tested on real world data taken from the New England area. Results exhibit a reduction in consumption expenses, indicating the potentiality of the virtual cost approach as an automated scheduling tool for electricity consumption in price directed electricity markets.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116288572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Decisions over audiovisual encoding are related to the perceived quality of experience (QoE), but also to the physical attributes of initial material (i.e. resolution, color range, motion activity, audio dynamic range, bandwidth, etc.). Recent research showed that such decisions can be really crucial during the production of audiovisual e-learning material, where poor encoding may lead to unaccepted QoE or even to the creation of negative emotional response. On the other hand, exaggerated high quality encoding may create increased bandwidth demands that are associated with annoying delays and irregular playback flow, resulting again in QoE degradation with similar emotional repulsion. Thus, there has to be a careful treatment with proper encoding balance during the production of both the networked distance learning and stand-alone audiovisual mediated resources. Such machine creativity strategies are investigated in the current work with the utilization of applicable audiovisual features, QoE metrics and emotional measures. The current work is part of a broader research, aiming at implementing intelligent models for optimal audiovisual production and encoding configuration, with respect to the source content attributes, the requested quality of experience (and learning) and the related emotional properties.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124508517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, important steps must be taken to improve services at the level of back-office which target to further evolution of the system. In this area, we intend to consider the perspectives of innovative knowledge management systems that provide personalized services to public agencies through the implementation of linked open government data. This set is called K.E.M.Cs and includes: knowledge, errors, motivation and cognitive states. It allows the system to identify the variety of backgrounds of prospective learners of programming, their misconceptions, needs and learning pace. The modeling of K.E.M.C.s is performed through a combination of different student modeling techniques: overlay, stereotypes, fuzzy logic and OCC cognitive theory. The gain of this approach is that the particular student model represents a sufficiently large part of the complex dimensions of a real student of programming. Therefore, it can be the base for the improvement of the quality of the learning process.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122376560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper an algorithm for rate adaption in MPEG-DASH is proposed that employs fuzzy logic to estimate the resolution of the next video segment that each client should obtain from the server. In this way, the buffering time at each client is kept above a target buffering time and thus buffer overflows and unnecessary bit rate fluctuations are avoided. Simulation results showed that the proposed rate adaptation strategy has a beneficial effect on the quality each user perceives.","PeriodicalId":298835,"journal":{"name":"IISA 2014, The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131970644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
