Although its critical roles, other studies also release gloomy pictures of mangrove destruction which have a damaging impact on coastal life. Different from many previous studies on the roles of mangrove and the impact or potential impacts of its destruction, this paper focuses on exploring how the local people view their environmental changes, particularly mangrove forests, and how they interpret the causes and the impact of the changes. By employing an ethnographic method, this study finds that local people in Bobaneigo Bay perceive a significant improvement of mangrove forests stretching along part of the coastline of the bay for the last fifteen years. They develop knowledge, mixing local and supra-local knowledge, to make sense of the causes and impact of the perceived changes of the coastal natural resources. The findings can contribute to an anthropological discourse on the dynamics of relationships between human and natural resources and how humans construct the dynamics socioculturally.","PeriodicalId":298762,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANRes 2019)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114732347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the study sites (Kota Tidore region) Most of the farmer have cash crop as the major agricultural commodities. The central government introduced a national program of increasing the cash crop commodities production (nutmeg) in 2017, which aimed to help the sustainable development of cash crop (nutmeg and clove) productions in supporting the farmer’s income. Through this program the government distributed seeds, organic fertilizers and tool (hoe) as well as accompanying the farmers in the first phase of the program. This study purpose to identify the nutmeg farmer’s perception and acceptance toward the assistance received from the government. It also can help to ensure that the program is contributing to the benefit of the farmer as well as can be taken as a lesson learned for the future program. The research is conducted in three villages, Rum, Maftutu and Kalaodi in Tidore regency which has received this program in 2017. The result shows that the perception of farmer toward the kind of assistance (seeds and organic fertilizers) are at the very satisfy level based on the reason that the quality of seeds is adequate to use (selected from the best local seeds) and organic fertilizers is not harm the soil. Similarly, the quantity of the distributed items is enough to be used by the farmers. While, they did not satisfy for tools (hoe) because of the number received is less than the number of beneficiaries. In the side, the acceptance level of the nutmeg farmers toward the kind of assistance (seeds, organic fertilizer and hoe are at the high level category because of those items distributed are well accepted and able to suit their basic needs on the ground. for items not enough for all the members (hoe), they literally manage it collectively.","PeriodicalId":298762,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANRes 2019)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127246054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research location was determined purposively, in Watugajah Village and Tegalrejo Village, Gedangsari Subdistrict and Girikarto Village, Panggang Subdistrict, based on the Map of Potential Food and Nutrition Potential in Gunungkidul Regency in 2017 which stated that the three villages were food insecure villages. The data used in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. The data analysis method in this study uses descriptive analysis with qualitative and quantitative approaches, to calculate the utilization ratio of agricultural products used as food reserves. The results of the study concluded that the factors causing food insecurity in Gunungkidul Regency in the aspect of food access were among others due to low purchasing power, inadequate educational facilities, low education, distance from growth centers far and limited economic facilities. These factors cause high unemployment rates which in turn causes people's access to obtain food very limited. While the factors causing food insecurity in the aspect of food utilization include the availability of staple food, the level of consumption of nutrients, environmental sanitation hygiene, the level of income and the level of parental education. The results of the analysis of household food reserves concluded that 47, 37 percent of agricultural production results in farm households are stored or used as food reserves. In addition, farm households use food production as consumption, for sale, social giving, seeds, and animal feed.","PeriodicalId":298762,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANRes 2019)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131983826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article is a review paper which has been collected more than twenty relevant scholar publications. The problem of the diminishing number of young farmers is quite worrying because the condition shall bring consequences in the long term that is a shortage of food production. Children from a farmer family rarely are willing to continue their parent business. Such a condition is fuelling by converting agricultural land to other purpose. This condition shall bring consequences, that is diminishing the number of food production in the future. Therefore, the lack of interest of young people in the agricultural sector is a serious problem that needs to be solved. The trend is that many young people \"avoid\" from the farmer's profession and this phenomenon must be seen comprehensively. We suggest three alternative ways to increase young people's interest in the agricultural sector, 1) through earlier education approach, 2) forming the conducive agribusiness climate approach and 3) using social media community approach.","PeriodicalId":298762,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANRes 2019)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127268073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water, 50% methanol and methanol extracts of S. palustris were tested for lipase inhibitory activity and lipid accumulation inhibition in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. For lipase inhibitory activity, the extracts and fractions with highest activity were separated and assayed again. Fractionation through column chromatography was done on the water extract to separate it into water, 50% methanol and methanol fractions. The 50% methanol and methanol fractions from the first column were fractionated again with a different column into water, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and methanol fractions. The result was the water extract showed the highest lipase inhibition while the methanol extract showed the highest lipid accumulation inhibition in adipocytes. In conclusion, S. palustris extracts with its lipase inhibitory activity as well as lipid accumulation in adipocytes suppression activity is promising for future research aimed at obesity management.","PeriodicalId":298762,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANRes 2019)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129413655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four different metals ions (Ca 2+ , Mg 3+ , Al 3+ , and Fe 3+ ) have tested at three concentrations level (0 ml, 0.01 ml, and 0.02 ml of 0.1 N solution per ml extract). The divalent Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ ions made an impact minimally to the bathochromic and hyperchromic shift at pH 3-8. The trivalent Fe 3+ successfully generated a bluer color at all pH, while the Al 3+ did not work only at pH 3. Stability test at pH 6-8 showed that the best stability occurred at pH 6. However, the metal complexation samples performed lower stability than the control samples.","PeriodicalId":298762,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANRes 2019)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124469408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Measurement of the value of physical vulnerability based on amplification factors produces a map of the physical vulnerability of an area by welding, which uses 3 classes, namely low, medium, and high. This information is used as a disaster mitigation effort and becomes a recommendation for regional development spatial planning and earthquake-resistant infrastructure in the Jailolo region. The method used is quantitative descriptive from microtremor data and physical vulnerability assessment. Microtremor measurements using a seismometer TDS-303 type. The physical vulnerability indicators used are the percentage of the built area, the number of buildings, the road network, and the Regulatory chief of BNPB 2012. The result is the level of physical vulnerability in Jailolo District by 28% of villages with a category of high physical vulnerability, the value of soil amplification (A0) in Jailolo District ranged from 4.67 50.98.
