We have developed a co-propagating scheme where switching is obtained by a second pulse which generates free carriers into a silicon waveguide and thus shifts refractive index by up to 0.01. The interaction was studied in two systems. First, system based on a photonic crystal heterostructure cavity was considered which was excited at the resonance frequency by the signal and then switched by the second pulse at the frequency of the pass band. In the second system two pulses were propagating in a slow light waveguide. Two pulses with different group velocities could overtake each other inside the structure. In both system theoretical models were developed to explain expected frequency shifts and compared to the experiment.","PeriodicalId":295541,"journal":{"name":"2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129319184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a novel MWP-LCI technique is presented by means of a well-established parallelism between both worlds, MWP and LCI. This technique is based on the slicing of a broadband source which is transmitted through a dispersive element. The optical path differences under test modify the electrical transfer function of the MWP-LCI subsystem through a interferometric structure. In this case, the location of the interferometric structure is key to improve considerably the limitations of previous configurations according to key LCI parameters such penetration depth and resolution. The advantages of this new technique have been experimentally demonstrated by means of the measurement of the system electrical function transfer. On the one hand, the strategic allocation of the interferometric structure extends the penetration depth up to 2 cm which supposes at least more than a factor of 3 compared to previous contributions. This is mainly due to the Carrier Suppression Effect (CSE) in double-sideband modulated MWP systems is avoided. On the other hand, it is also demonstrated that the proposed scheme maintains the resolution through the complete measurement range. These key parameters only depends on the operation bandwidth of the RF and electrooptical components.","PeriodicalId":295541,"journal":{"name":"2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON)","volume":"32 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130419437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Distortion powers with single-band and with five bands are compared. The number of independent signal runs required to achieve accurate performance estimates is assessed. An average over 16 independent signal runs is shown enough to guarantee an error vector magnitude (EVM) discrepancy not exceeding 0.5 dB from the average EVM obtained with 32 independent signal runs. Inter-band crosstalk due to nonlinear transmission of 5 bands over 240 km of standard single-mode fibre limits the average power at the fibre input to levels not exceeding -2.5 dBm.","PeriodicalId":295541,"journal":{"name":"2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123195852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike the case of metal nanoparticles with a dielectric layer to suppress high absorption rate which is seriously detrimental to lasing resonance, Ag nanoshells with cavity mode can concentrate electric field around the void centre and consequently lead to low loss. This is supported by the finite-different time-domain method. The tube is assumed to have circular cross-section. The analytical solution of the wave-scattering problem is based on the Maxwell equations and using the separation of variables in the polar coordinates. We assume the resistive boundary conditions on the zero-thickness graphene cover, where the graphene electron conductivity is included as a parameter and determined from the Kubo formalism. The computed spectra of the total scattering cross-section and absorption cross-section display two different types of resonances: the localized-surface-plasmon (LSP) resonances of the graphene shell and resonances on conventional modes of a dielectric tube. The computed data can be useful for the design of graphene-based sensors of the changes in refractive index of host medium. For this purpose, the sensitivities and the figure-of-merit values of the LSP resonances are computed.","PeriodicalId":295541,"journal":{"name":"2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121527621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a synchronous transmission WDMA protocol according which each station is capable of receiving more than one data packets during a time cycle, using more than one tunable receivers. Thus, the packet rejections at destination due to the receiver collisions are essentially reduced, providing significant performance improvement. This study expands previous studies that consider a single tunable receiver per station. The average throughput and rejection probability are analytically and taking under consideration the impact of the tunable transceivers tuning time and the propagation delay latency parameter.","PeriodicalId":295541,"journal":{"name":"2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON)","volume":"179 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113991404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, interferences in the highly crowded available frequency bands enhances the advantages of multiband operation wireless system. However, one major bottleneck is the difficulty of the multiband antenna design. In this paper, investigation, design and measured results of multiband, high impedance, small, printed loop antennas are presented. The built antennas are inherently tuned with only two or more discrete capacitors to properly terminate the applied high impedance, highly efficient switched current power amplifier (PA) in two or more UHF bands. The proposed grating has been optimized for the sub-THz frequency range. Unidirectional transmission through the grating has been demonstrated experimentally at 0.1 THz. We have also developed a planar metallic double grating with sub-wavelength slits which blocks light with a transverse magnetic polarization incident from one of the grating sides and transmits radiation incident from the opposite direction into the +1 and -1 diffraction orders. These gratings which could be used as unidirectional couplers consist of optically linear materials and their operation respects the Lorentz reciprocity theorem.","PeriodicalId":295541,"journal":{"name":"2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122255057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
