Nowadays, Global Asynchronous Local Synchronous Systems en- ables to use a Local Dynamic Voltage Scaling archi- tecture. This technique allows to reach a high energy efficiency. Moreover, Local Dynamic Voltage Scaling can be implemented using different approaches. One of them is the Vdd-Hopping technique. In this paper, we propose an innovative control approach which aims for minimizing the energy dissipated during the Vdd-Hopping transients. In addition, our control also includes the ability to limit the current peaks during such transients. Stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed. A discrete version of this controller is obtained, which coincides with ENergy-AwaRe Control (ENARC) that is patent pending. And a comparison of this last one with another published is done.","PeriodicalId":294950,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129274563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new version of bound real lemma (BRL) which can guarantee the performance and the stochastically stability for MJLSs is proposed. Then, based on the BRL, a new approach for H∞ filtering is given. Compared with the existing design methods, more slack variables, which could lead to reduce conservativeness and give better H∞ performance, are introduced in the proposed approach. Furthermore, the whole design procedure can be accomplished by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed H∞ filtering approach can be illustrated by numerical examples.","PeriodicalId":294950,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC)","volume":"488 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116693144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can result the average travel time on the network level, even after the application of the control actions, to be the same or worse. Therefore, coordinative control strategies are required to make sure that all available control actions serve the same objective. In this paper, an intelligent decision support system based on multi-agent approach is proposed to assist the human operator of the road traffic control centre to manage the current traffic state. In the proposed system, the total network is divided in sub-networks, each of which has its own evaluation agent. In the proposed system the agent will be able to react with other (affected) agents through a high level agent called coordinator to find the optimal global traffic control action using an intelligent traffic control. The capability of the proposed multi-agent-based decision support system was tested for a case study of a part of the traffic network in the Riyadh city of Saudi Arabia. The obtained results show the ability of the proposed multi-agent-based system to identify the optimal global control action.","PeriodicalId":294950,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114156539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resulting design is such that the filtering error system is asymptotically stable and meets the prescribed H∞ norm constraint in normal case as well as in sensor failure case. What's worth mentioning is that the paper proposes a new method which combines S-procedure approach to solve the sector-bounded nonlinearities. A sufficient condition for the existence of such a filter is obtained by using appropriate Lyapunov functional and linear matrix inequality (LMI) techniques. In addition, based on this result, a convex LMIbased optimization method is developed to optimize the H∞ performance. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design.","PeriodicalId":294950,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC)","volume":"354 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115162005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is well known that the tuning of PI parameters is a tedious and complicated procedure, especially for those unfamiliar with control theory. In this paper, we employ and implement relay controller to automate the tuning procedure for contact-mode AFM PI controller during different scanning speed operations based on relay with hysteresis. Experimental results show that this approach offers system with satisfactory step response with typical settling time of about 2 ms. Moreover, better sample topography image can be obtained after auto-tuning the control gains during different scanning speed.","PeriodicalId":294950,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116073245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, some steps were done in order to characterize synchronizing interconnection topologies, combining control and algebraic graph theories. In this work, we present a complete analysis of the almost global synchronization property for the class of Kuramoto oscillators bidirectionally coupled in a ring structure. We show that the property is present only up to four oscillators. Although we use Jacobian linearization to prove most of the cases, the particular case of four oscillators requires a more complex approach. We show how this result can be used to characterize some non synchronizing interconnection topologies.","PeriodicalId":294950,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114836713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An assumption sometimes made for tokamaks having superconducting coils is that these extra time delays will not have any undesirable effects on control. In fact, introducing extra delays into the axisymmetric control loops of certain supercon-ducting tokamaks can have significant detrimental consequences. Aside from qualitative observations, the detrimental effects of extra time delays in tokamak control loops are not always well understood outside the control community. This study exposes and quantifies the detrimental effects imposed by time delays in the control loop in superconducting tokamaks, by focusing on plasma current control and radial position control in a vertically stable circular plasma in the KSTAR tokamak. Delays in the power supplies, data acquisition, and vessel structure are taken into account. Extremum-seeking-based optimal tuning of PID controllers is proposed as a possible method for remediating the negative effects of time delays. The Nyquist dual locus technique is employed to assess stability of the optimally tuned closed-loop system in the presence of time delays.","PeriodicalId":294950,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114899054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
