Among others, videos are used to support the learning process with clear advantages because it is well known that the combination of the speaking instruction with image usually enhances the learning. With this purpose, many videos have been built in the past. However, these videos often need to be modified in order to update their information, generally requiring large effort. In this paper, it is proposed the substitution of the speaking of a physical person by the synthesized voice generated by a specific purpose program. These programs use the source of information in text format to produce the speaking data which allows modifying the contents by only modifying the text. As a consequence, the video can be easily adapted to new requirements.","PeriodicalId":294540,"journal":{"name":"2013 7th IEEE International Conference on e-Learning in Industrial Electronics (ICELIE)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117175207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These languages are close to the final hardware architecture, but usually lead to long and complex design procedures. To overcome this limitation, high level synthesis tools provide an intuitive and straight-forward design flow using well-known programming languages such as C. This paper deals with the inclusion in a digital electronics course high-level synthesis tools to provide the student with a wider vision and additional design tools. An application example focused on digital control of power converters is provided, and the main benefits and drawbacks arisen are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":294540,"journal":{"name":"2013 7th IEEE International Conference on e-Learning in Industrial Electronics (ICELIE)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121394547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The complex and multidisciplinary nature of wind energy conversion systems makes the understanding of this topic a challenging task. A novel web-based learning module on wind energy conversion and control that utilizes easy-to use interactive virtual experiments is introduced. The focus of this paper is on teaching the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) by the use of a virtual experiment. Its intuitive graphical user interface and interactive animations, introduce the learner to the operation of the DFIG which is vital for understanding how this type of generator is operated and controlled in a wind energy conversion system.","PeriodicalId":294540,"journal":{"name":"2013 7th IEEE International Conference on e-Learning in Industrial Electronics (ICELIE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122444633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This redundancy is due to correlation between adjacent pixels in a digital image. Different approaches with variable efficacies deal with this type of redundancy; the decomposition into sub-bands either through discrete cosine transforms or through discrete wavelet transforms is generally used. In this work, we are interested in spatial sub-bands coding with wavelet decomposition and we present in this context a comparative study between 5/3 and 9/7 wavelet filters and the variation of the decoded image quality depending on the level of wavelet decomposition. We support our study by objective and subjective quality assessments.","PeriodicalId":294540,"journal":{"name":"2013 7th IEEE International Conference on e-Learning in Industrial Electronics (ICELIE)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116828114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the project SustEner is to modernize sustainable electrical energy vocational training by enhancing existing or establishing new training methods in enterprises and education. This paper presents the SustEner module power management techniques in hybrid electrical cars. Increasing market demand for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) leads to a higher effort on training and education of high qualified engineers in this field. Beside the development and design of different HEV components also the interaction and efficiency of the entire system is a key factor. Understanding the power flow from one component to the other improves the ability of developing high efficiency HEV. Online teaching tools provide the possibility of teaching complex technical problem in an easy way and with high approval. Thus an interactive simulation tool was developed teaching power management techniques for HEV. In the following an interactive online tool is presented based on a MATLAB/Simulink HEV model enabling configuration of a HEV and efficiency analysis for a specific drive cycle.","PeriodicalId":294540,"journal":{"name":"2013 7th IEEE International Conference on e-Learning in Industrial Electronics (ICELIE)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125525098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
