The quality of video in packet networks is susceptible to certain traffic characteristics: average bandwidth availability, loss, delay and delay variation (jitter). This paper presents a scheduling algorithm that modifies the stream of the Scalable Video Coder (SVC)- an extension of the H.264/AVC. To combat jitter, the algorithm provides unequal look-ahead by safeguarding the base layer (without the need for overhead) of the scalable video. The results of the experiment show that our scheduling algorithm reduces the number of frames with a violated deadline and significantly improves the continuity of video stream without compromising the average Y PSNR.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127989428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address to this problem, we first provided a binary knowledge model and, then, relaxing some assumptions, allowed for the more realistic framework of partial knowledge which, in turn, adds uncertainty to the assessment of students' knowledge due to their incentive to make a guess in multiple-choice testing. The aim of this paper is to propose a fuzzy assessment model formalised according to Reiter's Theory of Diagnosis to reduce this uncertainty and to draw a distinction between the level of students' ability and the degree of guessing. The provided assessment model was tested on modelled answers with respect to the knowledge frameworks and validated in a real-world context. The findings of this research present the fuzzy learning performance assessment model which may enable a teacher to estimate the level of partial knowledge and, thus, to specify a student's score as well as the results of computational experiments that confirm the validity of the theoretical outcomes.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131951612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent studies focusing on the evaluation of such environments have shown the great potential of virtual worlds in e-learning, providing improvement in factors such as satisfaction, enjoyment, concentration and presence compared to traditional educational practices. In this paper we present the 3D VWLE that has been developed at the framework of the V-ALERT project; the system's main goal is to contribute to the improvement of Information Security(IS) issues awareness. In particular, we present the methodology followed to evaluate critical aspects of the implemented platform, such as usability, presence and educational value. The data analysis has shown that the implemented system is usable, offered to the users high presence perception and increased their knowledge regarding IS. In addition, the evaluation results have shown that interface improvements should be considered and the training session should be enhanced in order to strengthen the system's functionality and educational scope.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117072805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a BCI for ALS patients based on self-regulation of neuronal oscillations in the superior parietal lobule, which is less affected by ALS than motor and sensory cortices. We describe a case of self-regulation of band power in gamma range (55-85 Hz) based on feedback from the parietal cortex by an ALS patient, resulting in a mean offline two-class decoding accuracy of 79.2% across four sessions. Despite a good offline decoding accuracy, a source localisation analysis revealed that gamma-power modulation was not spatially localized, suggesting confounding by non-cortical artifacts. Theta-power in contrast, showed a strong localized response in the precuneus. As such, this may be an alternative possibility of using self-regulation of neuronal oscillations for cognitive BCI.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"64 1-4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134363090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These problems are formed from a simple grid world that has a set of goals, doors and buttons as well as walls that cannot be walked through. Two agents have to reach every goal present on the map. For a door to be open, an agent must be present on at least one of the buttons that is linked to it. When laid out correctly, the world requires each agent to do certain things at certain times in order to achieve the goal. With no modification to allow communication between the two agents, Monte Carlo Tress Search performs well and very “purposefully” when given enough computational time.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"427 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132972039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It investigates the use of relative positioning using multiple robots to determine whether local landmarks can produce accurate results in unknown environments that lack external data such as maps or GPS. Specifically, it uses 2D barcodes as fiducials on mobile ground robots, observed by an aerial robot, to provide information such as altitude and pose to the aircraft's navigation stack and to control the motion of the ground robots. The accuracy of this approach is assessed and its potential for use in unknown, hazardous environments discussed.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129499829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the video packets are protected against errors with Forward Error Correction (FEC) calculation of the application-layer channel codes themselves may also introduce additional latency. This paper proposes Low-Density Generator Codes (LDGM) rather than other popular codes because they are more suitable for interactive video streaming not only for their computational simplicity but also for their licensing advantage. The paper demonstrates that up to a 4 dB reduction in video distortion is achievable with LDGM Application Layer (AL) FEC. Telemedicine and video conferencing are typical target applications.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127600530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a novel algorithm is introduced to combine three of these CRC circuits into one in order to minimize the total area of the transceiver. This method will insure a considerable reduction in the dynamic power of the system. The new circuit is designed in a parallel fashion and is tested on an Altera FPGA platform to verify its power consumption and number of used gates hence, the total reduction in size. The result shows a good reduction in the number of used logic gates.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121699662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A disparity map estimation algorithm for ADAS needs to be both accurate and to be able to work in real time. These algorithms can be classified into two categories: global estimation and local estimation. While global estimation algorithms tend to output a less noisy disparity map, most of them cannot operate in real time. In this paper, disparities are estimated locally by block matching and information acquired by calculating a disparity value for a pixel is transferred to its neighborhood by restricting the search range. Thus, in this way, while great efficiency is achieved during the block matching process, the effect of outliers is also minimized. The proposed algorithm suggests a new disparity calculations order which makes it possible for a pixel to get support from three different neighborhood directions (i.e. left, right and bottom). Using Horizontal support (from both directions) along with vertical support further reduces the noise compared to using support from only one direction (bottom). Thus, an accurate disparity map can be calculated while low computational complexity is maintained. Experimental results are quantified using KITTI data-sets and the percentage of erroneous pixels in non-occluded areas (Out-Noc) is calculated as 8.86%, while run-time is estimated as 0.84 seconds on an i7-870 CPU using single thread C implementation.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117284479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, encapsulation in modern object oriented languages often causes significant runtime overhead. Developers must choose between clean encapsulated code or fast code. In the application domain of computer games, speed of execution is of utmost importance, which means that the choice between clean and fast usually is decided in favor of the latter. In this paper we discuss how encapsulation is embedded in the Casanova 2 game development language, and show how Casanova 2 allows developers to write encapsulated game code which, thanks to extensive optimization, achieves at the same time high levels of performance.","PeriodicalId":294036,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127918526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
