However, many previous work on IR-based eye detection only focuses on the theory of IR image processing and neglect the important influence of human eye characteristics on the sensor design and image generation. Therefore, robustness can not be guaranteed. In this paper, we propose a new reduced eye model based on the Gullstrand's schematic eye. This eye model can serve as a quantitative factor of system design. Using both simulation and experiments, we illustrate the correctness and feasibility of our model.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127060296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system model considered in the paper includes the frequency offset and the phase noise that come from the local oscillators used for up/down-conversion. A multistep interpolation method is introduced to estimate the phase error assuming that a sequence of equally spaced pilot symbols is available. Our analysis takes the statistical character of phase noise into consideration and obtains the optimal coefficient of pilot to estimate the phase noise. The method proposed in the paper is compared with other method in the previous paper through simulation.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124588622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To solve this problem, the design of traffic control is required. Traffic control parameter can be determined from the traffic flow behavior of the traffic intersection. Currently, most of the traffic control system in Malaysia is using Webster Model, which its green time duration is pre-determined by collecting the data from the traffic intersection. Most of the waiting time at the intersection is wasted due to the constant green time duration. The aim of this paper is to optimize the average waiting time of a traffic intersection via a developed Fuzzy Logic traffic control system. Traffic light simulator hardware is built to deal with the difficulties of working in a real environment and to investigate the performance of the traffic control system. Conventional traffic control system, Webster Model and the Fuzzy Logic controller will be applied into the traffic signal simulator in order to investigate their performance.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134466645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, its recursive representation increases the coding complexity as well. This paper brings forward a fast coding tree unit algorithm to speed up the original intra coding in HEVC. By analyzing the texture of the CU, to filter out some unnecessary CU candidates. In the paper, two variables are used to evaluate the texture of the CU, that is the sobel gradient and MAD value. Combined these two values, encoding of some CUs can be skipped. Experimental results show that the algorithm obtains around 30% of time reduction with nearly unchanged PSNR and bitrate stays almost the same compared with the original HEVC intra coding.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134448094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to improve the accuracy of TOA estimation, the proposed method utilizes the cumulative sum of time-of-arrival (TOA) estimation values, which are measured during the initial ranging (IR) and periodical ranging (PR) process of each mobile station (MS). When the HST gets close to the BS, a positioning algorithm based on angle- of-arrival (AOA) estimation is employed to guarantee the accuracy of positioning. Simulation results are implemented under the mobile worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMax) configuration, showing that the proposed scheme dramatically improves the accuracy and reliability of TOA estimation. Furthermore, by using the combined scheme of TOA and AOA estimation, real-time and accurate location information could be provided for HST.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127080517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed charge sharing clock generator is able to recover the charge from parasitic-capacitor charging and discharging, so that the dynamic power loss is reduced by half. Furthermore, the proposed frequency regulation structure is able to keep the efficiency of charge pump at the theoretical maximum value without effect of load current. The simulation results show a maximum 10% efficiency increase and the efficiency is kept around 68% when load current decreases, while efficiency of conventional charge pump drops to 23% when load current is 10uA.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"139 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116726176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By applying HTM to obtaining the local morphological features of ECG signals, this method is capable of precisely detecting QRS complexes, P-wave and T-wave. In the experimental studies, this method was validated by several standard real-world ECG databases, including MIT-BIH arrhythmia, QT, European ST-T and TWA Challenge 2008 databases. For QRS detection, the average sensitivity value was 99.74% and the positive predictivity value was 99.80% for all databases. In the meantime, for P-wave and T-wave detection on QT, the sensitivity values were 99.49% and 99.81% respectively and the positive predictivity values were 98.82 and 99.80% respectively. As to delineation, the average maximum delineation error was no more than 4 ms and the standard deviation error was around 10ms for P-wave, QRS complex and T-wave.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125152809","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The firewall has been used widely as an important tool for network security. This paper described a firewall named DC-Firewall for virtual machines in a data center, especially for the virtual machines in a P2P network. Different from previous research, this paper wants to emphasize the importance of distributed model and message control in the study of network security in data centers. The discussion of distributed architecture forms the major concern of the present study. For different topology of P2P network, DC-Firewall used modular design to provide extensibility of architecture. Some useful implications obtained from this system include the architecture of distributed firewalls and message-oriented engine in software defined P2P networks.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128149158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
