In this paper we have developed a U-health system to get data from sensors attached to the body and let doctors and patients properly utilize it. We have first considered how to get data from sensors and used the Zigbee module to collect data and transfer it to the NFC module. Then we have decided the authentication system for security on data delivery from NFC. Finally, we have designed a database schema to make the data useful.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133200541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The de-blocking filter is an important part in HEVC. By exploiting the arithmetic operation of HEVC de-blocking filter, we propose a HEVC de-blocking filter core in which resources share techniques are used to reduce the hardware cost. We divide the HEVC de-blocking filter into 2 parts: one is strong luma filter (SLF), the other is weak luma and chroma filter (WLCF). In the strong luma filter, common parts for the arithmetic operations to obtain the filtered pixels are extracted. In the weak luma and chroma filter, the chroma de-blocking filtering can be implemented as a subset of weak luma filtering. By using the proposed techniques, the cost of de-blocking filter is greatly lowered.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122909468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It converts the potential energy of the natural circulating water flows to usable electrical energy by driving a turbine which is connected to a generator. In the rural area of Sabah state in Malaysia, such as Kampung Terian, the existing micro-hydro power plant is incapable to support the villagers' demand during the peak hours. Meanwhile, the tremendous amount of excess energy is wasted by disposing through ballast load during the non-peak hours. Since the discharge coefficient parameter of charging system is dynamically changed in nature, the conventional proportional controller is unable to control the charging process well. Thus, a lead-acid battery storage system is developed to incorporate with the micro-hydro power plant. Fuzzy logic control is proposed in this work to control the amount of current charging for the battery by manipulating the duty cycle of a DC-DC buck converter.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125214714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There have been quite a lot of scene boundary detection methods for MPEG video streams and they work well. However, the variable size of macroblocks and more type information of macroblocks in H.264/AVC bitstreams make it different from MPEG bitstreams. Consequently, most of the algorithms can not be applied to the H.264/AVC directly. In this paper, an algorithm based on the percentage of blocks coded with the same mode in each frame is proposed. After analyzing the statistics of type information of the sequence contain gradual scene changes, the algorithm sets appropriate thresholds to locate the gradual scene boundaries. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs well and can detect 90.9% of the boundaries and make few false alarms.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117076157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As one of the most important steps for 3D reconstruction from image sequences, dense depth recovery has attracted much attention in computer vision recently. A lot of efficient algorithms based on stereo matching have been proposed. But the difficulties in depth recovery are not overcome completely yet. In this paper, we aim at the main problems of depth recovery and propose our solutions. And an effective approach for dense depth recovery based on adaptive image segmentation is also presented. A number of signal processing optimal algorithms developed, we apply the smart antenna to adaptive filtering. But the performances of adaptive filtering differ from each other corresponding to different algorithms. The linear constraint minimum variance (LCMV) criteria shall be applicable to the case of lower array signal noise ratio (ASNR), while the interference suppression criteria shall be applicable to the opposite case. We can get the best performance in any cases using the maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (MSINR) criteria, but sometimes it has application limitations. To solve this problem, an alterable parameter adaptive filter is proposed, which minimizes the output noise power under a premise, that is, there exists no shift from the target and the interference can be suppressed to a certain extent. The methods of the alterable parameter estimation are discussed, and performance analyses and simulation results are given as well. It can be concluded from the results that a nearly ideal output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the novel adaptive filter can be expected, keeping the original phase and amplitude of the target.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123048062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Electric Vehicle (EV) is an important component in the smart grids, playing a role of the electrical storage component with high capacity, so that how to charge EVs is recognized as a critical issue. As a new concept - the E-roaming is recently introduced, how to introduce the EV charging system in the private area needs to be thought in the interaction with E-roaming system. We propose an authentication system to discriminate an individual user and vehicle in the private area when charging the EVs.","PeriodicalId":293342,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - China","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128631694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
