The working principle, design approach and operating performances of this converter suitable for large capacity applications in industry are discussed. A model of the three-level voltage-source inverter is presented. The dynamics of the complete system is considered, including the DC-link and the load side. The model uses D-Q transformation. An open-loop dynamic analysis is done first. An LQR controller is designed to improve the dynamic response of the system for the closed-loop operation. The proposed snubber uses a magnetically coupled cell to reduce the turn-off switching loss of the auxiliary switch. The method has been employed to build a 500 W/100 kHz prototype. The experimental results show the ZVT DC-DC boost converter waveforms with and without the regenerative snubber. This topology, including only two auxiliary switches, can achieve the zero-voltage turn-on of main switches as well as the zero-current turn-off of auxiliary switches. The modified space-vector modulation (SVM) is introduced to make the zero voltage turn-on possible in any switching condition. The distributed system is composed of switched-mode power factor correction (PFC) converters utilizing a central limit control technique. This technique allows one voltage loop compensator to be shared by all the PFC converters. Design of such a compensator is discussed and the system performances with regard to unequal cable resistances and load changes are reported. By means of popular software tools such as SPICE, the analysis in the time domain of nonlinear feedback systems is time consuming and often impractical; the recourse to mathematical symbolic descriptions, according to a copious literature, generally implies heavy preparation phases to express in matricial terms the circuit topological characteristics. Instead, small signal modeling, and dynamic responses forecast of SPECs has already found computer aids easy and fast to apply. Just such an automatic small signal analysis tool, Fredomsim, has been used, as described in the paper, to make the large signal dynamic simulation more affordable and convenient. In fact, it directly provides small signal state space matrices, and from these, the matrices required in the overall nonlinear description formulae are automatically derived. The inductor current and the diode current are fedback and combined in a specially nonlinear way which makes the average inductor current proportional to the current control signal and only determined by the current control signal. Stability analysis is performed by the root-locus method, which reveals that the current control loop is inherently stable. When the voltage feedback loop is closed, the output of the voltage error amplifier is used as the control signal. A PI controller is used to regulate the output voltage. The audio susceptibility and closed loop output impedance are presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the inductor current is not affected by large disturbances in supply voltage or output load and the buck converter with the proposed current mode control exhibits excellent performance.","PeriodicalId":292317,"journal":{"name":"30th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. A topological modification which balances the switching pattern of the inverter is made. Common mode voltage, which results chiefly from unbalanced switching is thus significantly attenuated. This attenuation translates into a substantial reduction in the size and cost of passive filtering components needed to comply with conducted EMI standards. This topology is used in this paper to design an online battery charger with no galvanic isolation. This solution is a very simple one and only implies slight changes to the conventional topology.
