Abstract

This paper proposes a novel zero-voltage transition (ZVT) topology applied to a three-phase inverter. This topology, including only two auxiliary switches, can achieve the zero-voltage turn-on of main switches as well as the zero-current turn-off of auxiliary switches. The modified space-vector modulation (SVM) is introduced to make the zero voltage turn-on possible in any switching condition. The simulation and test results show the improved switching characteristics and the reduced losses compared to the hard-switching and the conventional ZVT with two switches in three-phase inverters.
