The proposed methodology can embed EPR in the cover image by discrete cosine transform watermarking and RSA algorithm of cryptography. Here EPR includes patient's name, doctor's diagnosis and also the infected region which to be treated. The ROI of infected region is detected through a combination of region growing and contour detection algorithm. The technique can retrieve all the embedded information exactly same even from several attacked image. A number of image quality matrices are also used to explain the strength and successfulness of the proposed Crypto-Watermarking technique both visually and statistically.","PeriodicalId":290479,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 1st International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116349287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sudden failure of power transformer has both technical and economical impacts. Studies indicate that inter turn fault is one of the major cause of transformer failure. Detection of presence of such fault at an early stage is important to avoid further damage. Objective of this paper is to analyse the characteristics of current during inter turn fault using Park's vector and symmetrical components approach. Comparative assessment of Park's vectors and symmetrical components is also discussed. Use of percentage deviation of vectors from healthy condition is proposed for identification of existence of such fault.","PeriodicalId":290479,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 1st International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON)","volume":"39 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126109949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The other source of surge occurrence is probably due to the interaction of power systems and communication system. The damages caused due to these phenomena to telecom equipment or modules create undesirable loss of service to the society. This paper presents the simulation and experimental investigations carried out on two types of high voltage high current protection cards used in digital telephone exchanges. Special efforts were made to fabricate the surge generators as per the prescribed standards. The experimental results on the performance of two types of high voltage protection (HVP) cards for combination wave (1.2/50μs open circuit voltage and 8/20μs short circuit current) and ring wave surge voltages (100kHz 0.5μs) are studied, analyzed and presented.","PeriodicalId":290479,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 1st International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON)","volume":"207 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131519238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

BLDC motor and its drive circuit may come into flawed operating mode if stator fault occurs. Due to change in effective winding in faulty phase, the stator inductances are also changed. The abnormal behavior of shorted stator phase current due to inter-turn fault, fault current and change of values of machine parameters has been described in detail using Winding Function Approach and based on this method simulation result will be provided by using dynamic equations. Error detection will be difficult task when signals are corrupted with noise. Therefore, noise removal is the first step towards the detection of error in signal acquired from artillery unit. In this work, wavelet based signal enhancement technique is proposed to remove the noise from acquired signal. Doubechies wavelet with order 1 is used to decompose the signal up to four levels. Empirically chosen thresholds are applied in each detail coefficient and the denoised signal is reconstructed using the approximation coefficient and threshold detail coefficients. To detect the error, Doubechies wavelet with order 6 is applied to decompose the enhanced signal up to four-level. Each detail coefficient represents the distortion if original signal is erroneous. The proposed method is tested by means of signal to noise ratio, average power and spectrogram analysis. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed method is consistently well at different SNR both off line testing and online testing, and also able to detect the error properly.","PeriodicalId":290479,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 1st International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114977522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of the failures are due to the presence of metallic and non metallic particles inside the GIS compartment. The defect can be generated in GIS during production, maintenance, installation and due to ageing of the component. The particle can give rise to field nonuniformities, which can reduce the breakdown strength. Proven technique to assess GIS insulation condition is partial discharge measurement in GIS. Hence for proper assessment of the failure it is necessary to have a good understanding of the partial discharge (PD) patterns. This paper identifies PD patterns for different defect using electrical and UHF method. As insulation failure usually starts with PD activity, this paper investigates the differences in PD characteristics in SF6 gas with different types of defects using electrical and UHF method. A series of tests has been done to establish a correlation between partial discharge as well as the applied voltage for different defects. Experimental results show that correct identification of defects can be achieved based on considered PD characteristics.","PeriodicalId":290479,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 1st International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125506008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To avoid the harmful effects of inrush, amorphous core is widely used in recent days. Transformers with amorphous core cause low magnitude inrush current and hence the second harmonic of inrush current is comparable with that during internal faults. This increases the chances for relay mal operation when classical techniques of discriminating inrush from other faults are used. To overcome this, advanced signal processing techniques like wavelets, S-transform, H-transform and pattern recognition tools like fuzzy logic, neural network, support vector machine etc. are being used in recent days. A combination of wavelets and neural network is found to give satisfactory solution to the above problem. In this paper, a comparative study using different mother wavelets along with different activation function is made to enhance the performance. Virtual instrument is used to demonstrate the method of fault classification.","PeriodicalId":290479,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 1st International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (CATCON)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125945677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unnoticed over a period of time, it deteriorates winding dielectric, results in low insulation resistance(IR), smaller polarization index(PI) number and higher tanδ. Dirty windings block the ventilation, increases power loss and reduce efficiency. Eventually, machine stalls with sudden earth fault. This paper discusses the novel purification method viz. Dry Ice Cleaning (DIC) to clean the stator end windings of turbine generator in a power plant. Effect of contamination on dielectric parameters of windings is emphasized. Traditional practices and cleaning agents to remove debris on overhangs are presented. New process of solid CO2 cleaning for dirt removal during overhaul is described. Techno-economic aspects in usage of this cryogenic material and technology are highlighted. Experience on 120MW, 11 KV turbine generator to enhance the life through DIC cleaning is presented.
