The video surveillance system has been operated for public interest by the police and local government. However private information such as faces or behavior patterns can be recorded in CCTV, it may cause the invasion of privacy. This paper proposes a video surveillance system that satisfies both functions of privacy protection and surveillance. The proposed system operates multiple surveillance cameras with a single RFID system. The RFID system is used in order to recognize internal or external personnel of object at entrance and cameras are used to extract features such as height and clothing-colors of the object. The proposed system can reduce invasion of privacy by intensity of scrambling according to access levels. Based on the experimental results, we are able to confirm that surveillant can classify personnel information fast and exactly in the display.","PeriodicalId":290107,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Embedded and Multimedia Computing","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133375730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PRESSNoC was implemented on a Xilinx Virtex 4 FPGA device, which required 25.5% lesser number of slices compared to the traditional NoC with a full-fledged encoding method. The average benefit to overhead ratio of the proposed architecture is greater than that of the traditional architecture by 71%, 32% ,a nd277% when we consider the individual effects of interference rate per instruction, application domains, and system characteristics, respectively. It shows we have higher probability toward the reduction of crosstalk interferences and dynamic power consumption at the same overheads by using the proposed architecture. I. INTRODUCTION Due to advanced process technologies, the decreasing dis- tance between wires has increased the gate count capacity of a chip, but it has also led to significant crosstalk interfer- ences among adjacent wires. Crosstalk is usually caused by undesired conductive coupling from one channel to another. This problem becomes more severe in a Network-on-Chip (NoC) because of the large number of wires used for parallel communication. Further, in advanced process technologies, the ratio of wire to gate power consumption has increased significantly such that the power consumed by wires can no longer be neglected in any power estimation model. Due to the large number of wires in an NoC, the high dynamic power consumption incurred due to parallel communications among concurrently running applications has also become a design issue. To reduce crosstalk interferences and dynamic power con- sumption in an NoC, a well-known and popular method is to reduce the switching activity by means of data encoding schemes which target at reducing the occurrence of spe- cific data patterns such as two/three adjacent transitions and two/three aggressors that may cause crosstalk interferences or high dynamic power consumption. Nevertheless, the tra- ditional encoding methods are fixed, that is, they cannot adapt to the varying requirements of different applications, domains, and systems. The proposed infrastructure mainly includes a novel reconfigurable NoC architecture design, called Power- aware and Reliable Encoding Schemes Supported reconfig- urable Network-on-Chip (PRESSNoC), four data encoding strategies, and an intelligent strategy selection method with reasoning and learning. PRESSNoC supports the dynamic reconfiguration (9) of encoding methods to fit the require- ments of the working set of applications connected to it. The encoding methods include DUal Cycle Encoding (DUCE), Transition and Aggressor reduced Encoding (TAE), Single Additional Flit Encoding (SAFE), and Dual Additional Flit Encoding (DAFE), which differ in the provisio","PeriodicalId":290107,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Embedded and Multimedia Computing","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132869053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed implementation, a look-up table algorithm based on pos (the number of zero) is exploited and may be divided into sub-table according to priority in the same pos. The problem to manage a large quantity of file metadata, that usually represents the most expensive task of such systems, is a task delegated to user space programs, generally, database based. In this work we propose how to deal with metadata at file system level with Hixosfs. Hixosfs is an ext2 based Linux filesystem, designed to easily cataloging and retrieving e-mails, musical files and logs files according final user selected metadata. The core idea is to move the problem complexity from userspace to kernel level to speed up the overall process. The implementation mainly required ext2 file system structure to be extended to store file tags, then they can be accessed and modified directly by system calls. Analysis and comparison works state this approach to be suitable for a large amount of data.","PeriodicalId":290107,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Embedded and Multimedia Computing","volume":"13 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120895889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The developed RFID and wireless sensing system can automatically update the inventory of monitored chemicals periodically or respond the server's request instantly to check the usage and storage of the chemicals so that ignorance or misconduct of laboratory operators can be prevented or detected shortly to assure the safety of campus. Unlike the traditional RFID inventory control system, even the little quantity change in the chemical container can be detected and recorded to enhance the inventory control with the innovation of this system. This automatic system can be deployed and transmit data wirelessly in laboratories to minimize the cost and complexity of implementation. It also can communicate with the remote GHS-based management server via internet such that administration can oversee all the inventory of chemicals in the laboratories with this system installed. The implementation of this system has shown its effectiveness to improve the safety and accuracy of inventory control of the toxic chemicals on campus.","PeriodicalId":290107,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Conference on Embedded and Multimedia Computing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129949163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
