ICTs are widely perceived to have the capability, if used effectively, to bridge social and economic gaps that divide rural and urban communities improving access and providing a wider range of health services to enhance the wellbeing of people. They have the potential to change the delivery of healthcare services and patient care, as well as the management of health care systems by providing personalized healthcare information and solutions. E-Health can improve access to information, thus increasing awareness of what is known in the health sciences, while selective dissemination by electronic means can facilitate targeting of information on those who either request it or are most likely to use it. Effective ICTs in health are tend to provide just-in-time, high quality, relevant information to health professionals and, increasingly to laypersons.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130740678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Until recently, it has made sense to consider different types of media more or less independently. Now however, the lines are blurred and the worlds of television, newspapers and the Internet overlap considerably. Similar ethical issues apply across the types of media activity. In such a changing environment, it is important that the church in general develop a methodology to apply to media-related ethical issues. It is particularly important for the CFB to do this as media related companies account for at least 20% of the whole market. How is the rise of new media and online journalism affecting the traditional journalistic standards of objectivity, accuracy, and verification? How can the media show that it remains committed to a strong ethical code and to effective self regulation in a rapidly changing media environment? This paper surveys the media-related sectors and identifies some common and particular themes. A methodology is suggested for examining media issues from an ethical investment perspective. The pros and cons of new media have been suggested and some case studies have been given as examples of ethics, whether a myth or a reality.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115720824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Now a days it has become a part and parcel and an important accessory across all the streams of students viz., Engineering, medical, agriculture etc., Younger generations are most attracted with the mobile phone and hence increased use may result in dependence. A study was carried out to understand the mobile use pattern of Agri graduates amongst the 100 Agri-graduates. This study revealed that, majority of the students (71%) using mobile handsets from 5 years, while Redmi, Samsung, Mi, Nokia, honor, One Plus, iPhone, vivo and Lenovo are the most preferred brands. Jio network is the mostly used (71%) network service provider preferred by the respondents. About, 90 per cent of the students possessed their phones from their parents while only a meagre (2%) section of the students got it from their friends as a gift. This study has indicated that, more than half of the students (52%) spent about, Rs.15200–23901 for mobile purchasing while only very few (2%) students spent about Rs.41, 303 to Rs.50, 000 for same. About 52 per cent of the students spent more than an hour time on the internet. Around, 66 per cent of the student's expressed that, browsing of useful information at any time possible is the reason for the mobile phones at their own convenience. About 59 per cent of them has never used their phones to generate self-employment. The usage of mobile phones will have an impact in the student's learning when used in a constructive way, but the excessive use of mobile phones should not lead to no kind of dependency of students on their phones. Hence, some interventions are required to motivate the youth against it.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"13 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123726732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, with the globalisation of agriculture, quality agricultural production is being stressed more rather than quantity alone. In this context, there is a need to think about the approaches that can bring about the attitudinal changes rather than only technological changes. Extension effectiveness is dependent on these ingredients, which are outside its control. Extension is a link between research and the farmers. Different approaches are used for knowledge sharing and technological dissemination around the world due to varying capacities and capabilities of the clients. Different approaches can operate effectively, if the people involved understand these approaches and want to make these to function. There is no single approach that can be recommended for all countries. The challenge to extension agencies is not to use one approach rigidly, but to create desirable conditions for effective extension work. It is true that each and every approach for organising extension has certain strengths and weaknesses that must be given attention. No single approach is more appropriate than others. An endeavour has been made in this paper to identify the approaches that can be more effective in bringing about the change in affective/psychomotor and cognitive aspects of behaviour required at this juncture. Approaches can be classified as multipurpose/monopurpose, voluntary/statutory, client/area/problem oriented, supply/services or a combination of both. Under the current scenario, a mix of all these extension approaches would be required. This paper gives an outline of appropriate mix of these approaches required in the present situation.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127125057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When Herzog studied why women (housewives) followed these programmes (not known for their quality) findings showed that women listened to them because they were a source of advice and support, and provided emotional relief. The new media opened up opportunities to apply the theory for newer perspectives on user expectations, motives for use and the satisfaction gained from their use. The number of Internet users in India in 2009 was 61.338 million and is growing by the day. There is a rapid increase in the number of mobile phone users too. During the Indian census year 2011, married population constituted 47.0% of the total population of 1,210,193,422. According to the Family Welfare Statistics in India, 2011, the number of married females in urban areas in the age group 15–44 was 1148,012,536 in 2001. Overall literacy rates are also increasing with 74.04% of the total population being literate. With increasing literacy rates and a growing purchase power, the urban homemaker in India is a crucial target for government, ecommerce and e-marketers of products and services, among others. The study intends to understand Internet acceptance, usage motives, gratifications and outcomes of use for the urban Indian homemaker. A survey was conducted among 151 homemakers in Chennai city who have an access to and are users of the Internet and the Smart phone. The study found that, despite disparity in demographics among Internet users across the globe, today's Indian urban homemaker's uses, gratification and personal outcomes of the use of the Internet are well in tune with the trends worldwide.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130040072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
