Mochizuki","doi":"10.1299/KIKAIB.53.824","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1299/KIKAIB.53.824","url":null,"abstract":"Quadrant analysis has been used to investigate the events associated with the production of the Reynolds shear stress in a fully developed plane turbulent wall jet. By partitioning the stress into four quadrants, it was shown that the second and the fourth quadrants were the dominant events contributing to the stress in the inner layer, whereas the first and the third quadrants dominate in the outer layer. The flow at the location where the mean velocity has a maximum value, is affected by both the inner and the outer layer structure. A standard liquid JS200 for viscometer calibration and a synthetic lubricant UNIVIS P12 are employed to evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of this viscometric system. The viscosities obtained show good agreement with those of NRLM, and observed temperature and pressure ranges are two or three times as large as those NRLM. In a disk with four slits at regular intervals there are two 2-0 modes which have two nodal diameters. One has a node in the center of a slit (sine mode), and the other has a node between two adjacent slits (cosine mode). The difference Δf1 between the natural frequency of the sine mode and that of the cosine mode becomes greater as the slits grow longer. On the other hand, there is only one natural frequency of the 3-0 mode in the disk. Our squeal theory predicts that the second mode squal is reduced as theΔf1 of 2-0 modes grows greater. Experimental results show that the second mode squeal disappears and the third one is generated when the slits are long. In conclusion, four slits are effective on the second mode squeal, but not on the third one. Ueda","doi":"10.1299/KIKAIC.53.916","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1299/KIKAIC.53.916","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, discussion is made on the distributions of contact stresses and the force ratio (the ratio of an increment of bolt axial force to an external load) when two hollow cylinders with plain washers are fastened with a set of a bolt and a nut and two T-flanges with plain washers are fastened with two sets of bolts and nuts. Analyses are performed for each model using the three-dimensional and the two-dimensional theory of elasticity. For verification, the contact stresses are measured by means of photo elasticity, and experiments are carried out with respect to the force ratio. A homogeneous mixture of propane-air was ignited at the center of a spherical vessel, and the effects of pressure, mixture ratio and vessel size on the heat flux to the wall and on the unburned hydrocarbon concentrations were investigated. The characteristic values of quenching layer thickness defined from the maximum heat flux and the unburned hydrocarbon concentrations, δq and δHC, respectively, were determined. The value of δq was proportional to about minus 0.45 of the power of the pressure and was independent of the mixture ratio and the size of the combustion vessel. It was recognized that in the large size vessel, the hydrocarbons in the quench layer after the completion of combustion with flame propagation were oxidized. So it may well be thought that the parameter is defined reasonably for a 3-dimensional crack. The purpose of this study is to indicate the property of crack energy density on 3-dimensional cracks for evaluation of this parameter. The contents of this report are as follows. (1) Define crack energy density on a 3-dimensional crack by using two crack models, and make it clear that the value of crack energy density is determined independently of coordinate system and plane on which the integral path is set. (2) Define crack energy density as a path-independent integral, and compare it with the J-integral of a 3-dimensional crack. The circumferential, radial, and axial vibration accelerations, sound pressure, and tooth root sresses of WN and involute gears were measured under different running conditions by using a gear testing machine of a power absorbing type. So, the J-integral equation which modified the effect of notch length is confirmed for brittle and porous polymeric materials, i. e. RIM Polyurethane at low temperature, in which the skin layers are removed. It is found that the equation can be applied to ductile and porous polymeric materials at a temperature of 20°C. The equation is examined by changing the specimen thickness at that temperature. This paper is concerned with a transient thermoelastic problem in a long circular cylinder exhibiting temperature-dependent thermal and mechanical properties. This problem is solved by the perturbation method.
