As we know, data are valuable resources and sharing of these IoT data has many benefits. Correspondingly, we develop the peer-to-peer information centric routing (P2PICR) solution to enable the discovery of IoT data sources and, subsequently, facilitate sharing of the IoT data on the edge.In P2PICR, keywords are used to index the routing tables to support search query routing toward annotated information sources. Though many DHT (distributed hash table) based solutions have been developed for managing p2p data, they are not suitable for IoT data sources. Thus, we consider the unstructured p2p routing as the basis for P2PICR. However, due to the large keyword space for specifying the IoT data sources, the p2p routing table has the potential of high space overhead. Thus, we develop a routing table space reduction scheme to significantly reduce the space requirement for the keyword-based routing tables. The routing table size reduction scheme is based on keyword summarization, which extends the IP address summarization technique adopted in IP routing tables, but keyword summarization is far more challenging than IP summarization. Compared to the conventional unstructured p2p routing in which the keyword-indexed routing table entries are cached and being elicited when the routing table is full, our summarization scheme instead compress the entries to retain its information for guiding the routing process.We conducted experimental studies and the results show that P2PICR achieves 20-30 times of routing table size reduction when compared to the case of without summarization and achieves 2-3 times communication cost reduction when compared with cache based solutions under the same table size.","PeriodicalId":285763,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN)","volume":"12 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133051052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each building has different cooling requirements based on its usage. There are two types of cooling systems, a ducted-centralized cooling system, and a ductless-split cooling system. To optimize the energy consumption of the ductless-split cooling system, we propose a Cooling-System Linear-Scheduling Algorithm (CLA). Besides optimizing, our technique satisfies two constraints, (a) maintaining the desired temperature in the entire room and (b) not executing any cooling system unit for a longer duration to increase its lifespan.We compare the energy savings by CLA with two techniques, the execution of all the ACs (AA) and a greedy algorithm (GA). AA maintains the desired temperature with the least deviation. The energy savings by GA serves as a benchmark as it consumes the least possible energy. The heat sources and external environment remain the same in a real-world environment. We use simulation to evaluate our proposed CLA with different external environments and heat sources. In a real-world setting, CLA saves up to 62% of energy compared to the cooling system’s execution when all the ACs are working. It saves up to 85% of energy consumption in the simulation environment. For real-world and simulation settings, CLA consumes the same energy as GA, which is the optimum. However, GA does not satisfy the second constraint of improving the lifespan of ACs. In both settings, CLA matches the desired temperature similar to that of AA and better than that of GA.","PeriodicalId":285763,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121869831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By improving the delay estimation accuracy, we can distribute traffic more efficiently to enhance the networking performance future, such as satisfying packet latency requirements and improving user experience. This paper aims to predict an end-to-end delay in Software Defined Networking (SDN). We use a GNN-based model named Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolutional Network (STGCN). Benefiting the ability to capture spatial and temporal dependencies of traffic data, STGCN outperforms the baseline methodology and other three machine learning techniques, Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBOOST) and Random Forest (RF). Notably, our GNN-based methodology can achieve 97.0%, 95.9%, 96.1%, and 63.1% less root mean square error (RMSE) than the baseline predictor, MLR, XGBOOST and RF, respectively.","PeriodicalId":285763,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125445651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to having millions of parameters and higher complexity, these high-performing architectures are not suitable to be deployed in edge devices, the Internet of Things (IoT), Vehicular edge computing, and microservices-based real-time applications. Though numerous approaches have proposed lightweight architectures to reduce required computational resources, there are still some concerns about latency, execution, and response time. To the best of our knowledge, no prior works have considered reorganizing the sequential blocks into parallel forward propagation i.e, converting sequential forward propagation into parallel forward propagation. In this paper, instead of reducing the time required by the network for end-to-end sequential execution, we propose a novel technique to obtain a parallel network called ParaNet to minimize the execution time by paralleling the network. Firstly, we dissect a CNN block-wise where all the blocks are deployed parallelly to construct ParaNet. Each block is treated as an individual network and can be deployed into different low computational edge devices for parallel processing. To further improve the performances we deploy the knowledge distillation technique into each ParaNet version. Our proposed method offers state-of-the-art results using low computational resources with very low execution delay compared to the corresponding baseline architectures. Our extensive analysis and results express the superiority of the ParaNet regarding both accuracy and execution time.","PeriodicalId":285763,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124364753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

OF@TEIN playground over TEIN (Trans-Eurasia Information Network), is a multi-site cloud with distributed edge nodes has brought the security challenges. In order to address the security challenges of distributed edge nodes, recently, SmartX Multi-Sec framework has been launched. However, it is based on a signature-based network threat detection mechanism. Depending on the current complex and heterogeneous nature of network traffic which is continuously increasing in scale, machine learning capabilities are more effective to recognize hidden and complex patterns of network traffic than traditional signature-based methods. Moreover, in response to the weaknesses of current security solutions, the zero-trust model manipulates that no network is reliable. Therefore, cloud operators should monitor and verify all network traffic continuously. So, by considering the above challenges, we are going to enhance the SmartX Multi-Sec framework by focusing on zero trust and incorporating machine learning techniques for network threat detection (specifically DDoS attacks). Moreover, its prototype version has been realized on the OF@TEIN playground to show its effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":285763,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116044954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This results in closed systems, where a small amount of information about gateways is available to the public. Thus, we find it important to analyse network traffic of such gateways.This paper’s primary goal is to gain information from network traffic data of commercially available gateways intended for home use. This information can be used, for example, for device profiling. We deploy four gateways in a controlled environment and capture their traffic in two modes. We analyse communication behaviours, point out interesting and unusual patterns in traffic, compare results to other studies, and discuss possible attacks on used gateways based on our data. At this time, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) can provide unmanned services such as delivery or taxis regardless of ground infrastructure. However, if there is a problem with the remote control or communication of UAM, there is a serious risk that can cause a lot of casualties immediately. Therefore, optimizing the trajectory of UAMs to avoid collisions between UAMs and ensure reliable communication is necessary. On the other hand, communication through satellites such as Starlink has the advantage of having wide coverage, so satellites can support communication services in areas where communication infrastructure is insufficient. Thus, in this paper, reliable communication of UAMs is funded through the satellite-air-terrestrial integrated network. At this time, each UAM considers the location of the communication infrastructure and other UAMs, avoids collisions, and derives a trajectory for reliable communication. We proposed an algorithm based on proximal policy optimization (PPO) to derive the optimal trajectory of UAMs in a short time. As a result of the experiment, UAMs can avoid collisions with other UAMs and simultaneously receive a reliable communication service.","PeriodicalId":285763,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN)","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124211544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efforts have been made to reduce communication costs by accelerating model convergence, leading to the development of model-driven methods based on feature extraction, model-integrated algorithms, and client selection. However, the resulting performance gains are limited by the dependence of neural network convergence on input data quality. This work, therefore, investigates the use of marginal shared data (e.g., a single data entry) to accelerate model convergence and thereby reduce communication costs in FL. Experimental results show that sharing even a single piece of data can improve performance by 14.6% and reduce communication costs by 61.13% when using the federated averaging algorithm (FedAvg). Marginal data sharing could therefore be an attractive and practical solution in privacy-flexible environments or collaborative operational systems such as fog robotics and vehicles. Moreover, by assigning new labels to the shared data, it is possible to extend the number of classifying labels of an FL model even when the initial input datasets lack the labels in question.","PeriodicalId":285763,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Information Networking (ICOIN)","volume":"890 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123250129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
