Due to their noiseless operation, greater power densities and gear free operation, they have been used in many applications in electronic equipment. This paper proposes a new design of pushrods which drastically improves efficiency over the existing ones. The structure of push rods has been optimized to obtain more torque and subsequently improving power output. The paper describes the proposed model and lists all required calculations. However, the wear loss of friction material is small in the friction system of ultrasonic motor. If effects of wear of friction material on properties of ultrasonic motor studied with a real motor, the experiment process were time-consuming and low efficiency and influenced by lots of known or unknown factors. In this paper, based on operation principle and wear characteristics of ultrasonic motor, an equivalent wear experimental method which using reduction of thickness of friction material equivalent to wear of friction material was proposed. And the relationships between wear of friction material and performance of ultrasonic motor were established. Validity of the method was carried out on one 60 traveling wave ultrasonic motor. This research could provide a new method for studying performance and life of ultrasonic motor.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115184199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The end of the sandwich structure is subjected to a set of self-equilibrated electro-elastic loads. The upper and lower surfaces of the sandwich structure are assumed to be traction-free and subjected to two kinds of electric boundary conditions. These electric boundary conditions are electrically short and electrically open. The characteristic equations for decay rate are derived. In estimation of porosity, average grain size, mass density and bulk modulus of grains, genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization are employed, respectively. Based on the above physical parameters, sound velocity and attenuation can be given. Numerical simulations show that both optimization algorithms have good performance in evaluating parameters with the exception of mean grain size and bulk modulus of grains. An analysis of SC-cut quartz crystal resonators is required as part of the design process and it has been proven that the Mindlin and Lee plate equations can be used for the vibration analysis of plates at the higher-order overtone modes with accurate prediction of frequency and dispersion relations in the vicinity of cut-off frequencies. We have utilized the first-order Mindlin and Lee plate equations for the analysis of thickness-shear free vibrations of a rectangular SC-cut quartz crystal plate. The procedure has been established for the calculation of dispersion relations, frequency spectra, selected vibration modes, and determination of the optimal length of SC-cut quartz crystal blank. Such detailed studies on the successive overtone vibrations at the thickness-shear mode will provide important design guidelines for SC-cut quartz crystal resonators.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114656486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Then the crack problem is reduced to solving a set of hypersingular integral equations, in which the unknown functions are the extended displacement discontinuities of the crack surface. Based on the analytical behavior of the unknown functions near the crack front, a numerical method for some typical cracks subjected to extended loads is proposed, in which the extended displacement discontinuities are approximated by the products of basic density functions and polynomials. Finally, the distributions of the extended intensity factors varying with the shape of the crack are presented. The results show that the present method yields smooth variations of extended intensity factors along the crack front accurately.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131966748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our results indicate that the dielectric characteristics of BST thin films deposited on compliant substrates are different from those of their bulk counterparts. The ferroelectricity and dielectric performances of the BST thin films can be modulated by changing the thickness ratio of the film to substrate or the stress state. At first, one impedance matrix equation is used to describe the dynamic of one piezoelectric stretch actuator, and each impedance equation is equivalent to one mass-damping-spring (M-C-K) system. A FE harmonic analysis is carried out on piezoelectric stretch actuator and the equivalent system are determined by several frequency functions using FE results and numerical interpolations. Secondly, the equivalent system is used to build FE model of beams driven by piezoelectric bending actuators, which is consist of two piezoelectric stretch actuators located on the top and the bottom of the beam respectively. Once the frequency response data or transfer functions of the smart beam can be obtained by using impedance, the vibration control model with close-loop feedback can be established. At last, three numerical examples are used to verify the proposed methods. The results of one individual piezoelectric stretch vibrator show that, the predicted dynamic response is accord with the others. A simply-supported beam driven by piezoelectric bending actuators is considered as the second example. The center deflection of the beam is obtained and found to be quiet accurate comparing with the analytical result. The third example is to simulate vibration of one suspended piezoelectric bimorph beam under close-loop feedback control. The simulation result is also shown to be quite accurate by comparing with the other results, and the vibration absorption results are shown in the figures of this paper.","PeriodicalId":285701,"journal":{"name":"2011 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131727920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
