The new version of the IEEE Standard 1547 (2018) created a new tendency in the PEC industry, the so-called “smart inverter”. The smart-inverter and the novel customer-centred legislation and markets are allowing DSO to opportunities such as TSO/DSO cooperation. This research paper is dedicated to assessing the effect of the voltage control of smart-inverters in the daily steady-state performance a TSO - DSO system. The assessment presented in this paper focuses on the total energy losses and the voltage profile in the TSO-DSO system. The evaluation is based on numerical results considering the regional electrical system in south-eastern Norway, specifically the area of Vestfold and Telemark.","PeriodicalId":284895,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Smart Systems and Technologies (SST)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131899030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Low-Power Wide-Area (LPWA) wireless communication technologies are particularly suited for implementation of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication in usage contexts where low data rate and low device mobility are frequently combined with a requirement for (extremely) low-power consumption and long range. In this paper, we identify the main objectives put in front of the LPWA technologies. We follow by describing how those objectives are met in the three most widespread LPWA technologies today: NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, and Sigfox. The usability of the described technologies is summarized for different contexts, based on use-case scenarios from different IoT application domains.","PeriodicalId":284895,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Smart Systems and Technologies (SST)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115305183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A large number of commercially successful applications in power energy systems show that fuzzy logic can be used very successfully, especially during disturbances. During a disturbance, automation of system fault analysis and information processing becomes desirable and necessary, due to the large increase in data collected from the system. The paper analyzes the possibilities for implementing automated fault analysis systems based on digital fault recorders, digital protection relays, sequence of events recorders, intelligent alarm processors and lightning location systems. These systems are interconnected with Intelligent Electronic Devices, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, remote terminal units or protection devices which are combined with different intelligent electronic devices in the system. For large number of devices and data, fuzzy systems have proven to be effective in detecting and classifying power system failures.","PeriodicalId":284895,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Smart Systems and Technologies (SST)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114503878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Complete automation of the supply chain elements was the goal since the rapid development of information technologies. Our concept proposes data logging of the product environment conditions during storage and transportation. Smart sticker is based on RFID technology, low-power, and flexible electronics powered by Li-ion battery. It can adhere to a product or a pallet and enables local data logging of the environmental conditions. When necessary, the user can read the data with an RFID reader, eg. smartphone. The proposed concept will enable additional opportunities in the supply chain that will improve customer service and user experience at a reduced cost.","PeriodicalId":284895,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Smart Systems and Technologies (SST)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128958359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the sake of simplicity only single-vehicle/single-pedestrian model is considered. The adopted model is extended with a stochastic component that accounts for variability in pedestrian/driver behaviors and influence of multi-agent environment. The model is generalized for scenarios where pedestrian appears at different distances relative to crosswalk. The analysis study is organized as follows. First, an off-line analysis of model-derived probability distributions and corresponding crossing decisions is conducted to gain initial insights. Next, large-scale simulations of the model are conducted for a wide set of randomly generated initial conditions and stochastic component tunings. Finally, the obtained simulation results are analyzed and discussed.","PeriodicalId":284895,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Smart Systems and Technologies (SST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134068598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
