Adriatic Tank Terminal (ATT) is a liquid cargo terminal located in the Port of Ploče and it is fully automated. This paper describes the derivative line control in ATT. The measurement line is described and modelled in Simulink-Simspace. It is very important to establish an appropriate operation mode for the centrifugal pump that supplies the derivative to a tank truck through the measuring line. This implies avoiding rapid and abrupt pressure changes caused by either the sudden shut-off elements closing or the induction motor direct start as the centrifugal pump drive machine. Installing a soft-start pre-filter reduces the impact and prevents the pipe from bursting. The advantage of using a soft starter over a centrifugal pump direct start is shown.","PeriodicalId":284895,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Smart Systems and Technologies (SST)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114945841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to achieve the desired goals, it is necessary to combine conventional energy sources with renewables. In this way, it is possible to increase efficiency and reduce harmful consequences, especially for large electricity consumers, such as public buildings. However, in addition to all the benefits of distributed energy sources, there are many difficulties that must be addressed, such as optimal control of the energy sources. The paper presents the mixed-integer linear programming method, which is used on an example of the public building with integrated RES systems, in order to optimize electricity consumption.","PeriodicalId":284895,"journal":{"name":"2020 International Conference on Smart Systems and Technologies (SST)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121324430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is realised with a comprehensive study on energy demand and available renewable energy sources (RES) that could be used for energy generation in the near vicinity of the public building. Additionally, using smart building energy management system it is shown that the public building could be led one step closer to nearly zero-energy building (nZEB). In the introduction the paper presents a short overview of the most important directives and national legislatives supporting energy efficiency and renewable sources.
