We introduce a new technique of masking cross-terms in the Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD) of multicomponent non-stationary signals. Ideal concentration of the WVD is achieved at the same time cross-terms are removed for the considered type of signals. The designed antenna has a microstrip fed trapezoidal radiating patch and three identical square split ring resonators. Notch bands around the 3.3–3.8 GHz WiMAX and 5.15–5.85 GHz WLAN frequencies are obtained by etching three identical complementary square split ring resonators (CSRRs) in the radiation patch of different dimensions of the antenna. Notch bands around the 7.9–8.4 GHz X-band frequencies is obtained by placing two rectangular split-ring resonators(SRRs) near the feedline-patch junction of the antenna. The designed antenna has the figure-of-eight radiation pattern, wide bandwidth, and negligible dispersion over the operating frequency band. But, in case of renewable energy based microgrids, the inherent involvement of static power electronics based power conversion raises the issues of poor power quality and instability during uncertainties due to lack of effective control facility and sufficient moment of inertia. So, an attractive way of mitigating the above mentioned key concerns is to make the microgrid's operation similar to rotary electrical machines based power plant by retaining the advantages of using power electronic converter. With this idea, this paper proposes “Virtual Synchronous Motor (SM)-Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based Automatic Control Strategy (VSMIGC)” for microgrids. This provides controlled modulating signals to control the output of the pulse width modulated power electronic inverter used in microgrids. For the performance analysis of the proposed VSMIGC, various power quality indices are measured during uncertainties and compared with those of conventional “Voltage-Current Control Strategy (VIC)” based inverters with respect to standard limits. The EM analysis of metamaterial (MTM) structure is carried out using transmission line transfer matrix method and validated with full-wave method based software package. The proposed structure is observed to exhibit bandpass frequency selective characteristics with very good transmission efficiency in the frequency range of 8.5 GHz–10.3 GHz. Further, a planar multilayered radome wall configuration is designed which consists of a thick Arlon layer embedded with Swastika-shaped MTM FSS as the middle layer backed by two thin quartz-based laminations on each side. The magnetic needle is allowed rotate about one axis, in the external magnetic field by pivoting its center. Due to attraction and repulsive forces between the magnetic needle and external magnetic field, the magnetic needle will have two equilibrium points, one is stable and the other is an unstable equilibrium point. The magnetic needle dynamics are derived by considering uniform and non-uniform external magnetic field. The controller is designed to control the magnetic needle at the desired location. Different control strategies are derived based on the Lyapunov's function. They are also better compared to manned missions as they are more resistant to hazardous conditions. In this work a method to deploy a swarm of robots to scan and retrieve the targets stuck in a disaster situation is deliberated. The multi-robot system developed is fault tolerant and follows a complete decentralized approach. In the proposed work, the basic elements in a real time search and rescue mission such as exploration of disaster area, target and obstacle detection, path-planning to reach the target in a coordinated way and tolerance for a few possible faults are accomplished using the “weights based algorithm” and the prototype testing done mimics the real time scenario. Communication among the robots in the swarm is implemented by using X-bee modules. The Open Access bilateral transactions for short-term power market between the states or inter-state is handled by regional load despatch centre (RLDC) and follows Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) guidelines. According to CERC guidelines for inter-State Open Access bilateral transaction, the traders/licensees need to take concurrence from the state load dispatcher center (SLDC) which is an offline activity. The Open Access for short-term bilateral transaction within state or intra-State is handled by SLDC which is also an offline activity. Both these offline activities are time consuming and error prone and hence delay the overall process of open access bilateral transaction at both regional and state level. To make these activities online for each SLDC, a huge initial investment is required. In this paper, we present a cost-effective solution as Software as a Service (SaaS) on cloud environment for all SLDC(s). Modeling and verification of such systems require mechanisms that incorporate continuos behaviour for monitoring physical events and descrete behaviour for computational elements. Passage of time is a fundamental property to be modelled and hybrid systems incorporate this aspect directly in the automaton of the model. In this paper a validation model for a timed automata is modeled using PROMELA and is verified using Spin model checker. The novelty of the proposed work is an attempt to model timed automata based hybrid systems using the basic constructs of PROMELA. Verification of safety and correctness properties of a traffic controller modeled as a hybrid system is attempted. Further a traffic light controller protocol consisting of four such controllers are introduced, their interactions and properties were verified. The upper bound on the use of regularization inspires image denoising prior to image deblurring. Further, noise removal depends on the precise knowledge of neighborhood statistics. Accordingly, an appropriate neighborhood around each test pixel is selected based on the noise variance and uncorrelated property of the additive noise. The lower bound of regularization is incorporated as an edge recovery constraint in the deblurring cost function. The suggested framework along with few existing schemes have been simulated on various standard images. Guha","doi":"10.1109/INDICON.2016.7838901","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/INDICON.2016.7838901","url":null,"abstract":"The radiation performance of a circularly polarized (CP) single probe-fed truncated corner square microstrip patch has been enhanced by employing (i) a metal (PEC) ring contouring the patch on the patch side of the CP antenna, and (ii) a multi-section ring defect in the ground plane (GP) of the CP antenna. The concept has been validated by designing a CP patch with a conventional GP, a CP patch with a PEC ring contouring the patch and a ring type defect in the GP of the conventional CP patch. Proposed configurations appear to be ideal for many circularly polarized wireless and satellite communication applications. Simulated results confirm axial ratio (AR) of about (i) 1.1 dB for a CP antenna with a PEC ring contouring the patch and (ii) 0.1 dB for a CP antenna with ring type defect in the ground plane; compared to an AR of 2.7 dB for a conventional CP antenna, indicating an improvement in cross polarized (XP) isolation. AR bandwidth has also been improved by 70% in case of PEC ring contoured CP patch and almost 100% in case of ring type defected ground structure (DGS) integrated CP patch when compared with conventional CP antenna.
