Currently, it is one of the major concerns for banks looking out for competitiveness in their business sector, for which banks seek to play a key role in society, proclaiming their citizenship. As financial institutions, they are aware of how important it is to maintain long-term relationships with stakeholders. However, the variety of reflections upon this issue makes it difficult to uphold a universal logic among banks. This article’s objective is to examine the suitable governance model that can foster social responsibility in bank milieu in Cameroon. Empirical studies were conducted using the triangulation method characterised by desk review and semi-directive interviews with managers and clients from nine (09) banks. The results demonstrate that the necessary and suitable governance model that can foster banks’ Corporate Social Responsibility takes into account endogenous and exogenous aspects integrating economic, social and environmental dimensions.","PeriodicalId":283517,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115641573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study attempts to document the effect of debt on the firm’s profitability and then explores the reason behind such an impact by introducing the agency cost as a parameter. The study is conducted in two phases. Phase I is carried out to establish the relationship between debt financing and the firm’s financial performance. In Phase II, the study is conducted to understand the impact of agency cost on debt financing. Firms from the BSE Realty Index were selected for the period 2011–2018. Profitability is measured through return on equity (ROE), whereas debt financing is measured through the firm’s leverage ratio. The agency cost is measured through the asset utilisation ratio and general expense to sales ratio. Panel regression method is used to understand the impact of debt financing and agency cost on the firms’ profitability. The result of Phase I suggests a significant negative relationship between debt financing and the ROE and the result of Phase II suggests a positive relationship between the agency cost and debt financing. This means that reduction in agency cost will lead to lesser amount of debt financing thereby improving the firm’s financial performance.","PeriodicalId":283517,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128279540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To investigate this relationship, the study has taken into consideration of 468 sample observations from 108 listed firms covering the year from 2013 to 2017. This study finds that aggressive investment and finance decision significantly contribute to the profitability of the firm. Besides, the efficiency of WCM has significant impact on the profitability. In addition, the constructs of efficiency of WCM—that is, days in inventory outstanding, days in sales outstanding—has significant negative impact on the profitability of the firm. Unfortunately, this study finds no significant impact of days in payables outstanding on firm’s profitability.","PeriodicalId":283517,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation","volume":"127 31","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134445682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The world economy has shrunk by about 3%. The trade war between the United States and China and their defensive agreements with other countries was already a huge problem, but it has reached a critical stage due to COVID-19. The United States has filed multiple lawsuits against China, alleging that they purposely released the Coronavirus. The objective of this article is to examine the shifting geopolitics, focusing on international economic and defensive relationships among countries, and especially on the Second Cold War between the United States and China. In this pandemic situation, more countries are facing economic downturn and loss of human life. A new geopolitical journey has been started, which is based on the availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and medical products. All previous problems that had not yet been solved by the United Nations have become fresh challenges. Another big challenge is the demise of neoliberalism in the world. Bureaucratic wars have started in the interregional and intraregional zones, and the Second Cold War has started between the United States and China. A major finding of this article is the significant correlation between the death rate of different countries and the shift of geopolitics to a critical stage.","PeriodicalId":283517,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation","volume":"208 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116214242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

India, one of the fastest-growing economies and a potential attractor of tourists, is estimated to be the world’s third-largest tourism economy by 2028 (as per World Tourism and Travel Council [WTTC] estimates) and is expected to draw massive investment in this sector. Thus, the present study aims to analyse various factors impacting foreign flows in the tourism sector and develops a hierarchical structure among the identified factors through the interpretive structural modelling (ISM) technique. A MICMAC (Matrix of Cross-Impact Multiplications Applied to Classification) analysis is performed to categorise the identified factors based on the driving power and dependence level. The interrelationships among the variables were derived from the opinion gardened from 50 research and industry experts. The results showed that political stability plays a critical component in driving other variables in the system. Also, a stable system is likely to impact the economic environment of a nation positively, thus, creating a desirable profile for investors to invest in tourism businesses or the development of destinations.","PeriodicalId":283517,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127612503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It further explored the relationship of staff profile and HRM dimensions. Purposive sampling was used with a 50 per cent response rate. The instrument is composed of two parts; the first part includes staff profile while second part consists of 10 HRM dimensions clustered in 36 HRM practices. The findings revealed that all HRM dimensions were often applied and more than half of the respondents were academic staff, expatriates, male, and from affiliated, and college HEI. As to relationship, it was found that staff’s designation and residential status had high significant relationship in most of the HRM dimensions while staff’s HEI affiliation, classification and gender had high significant relationship with two HRM dimensions.","PeriodicalId":283517,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation","volume":"176 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116686332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One area that has been understudied, to our knowledge, is the effect of level of education and gender on celebrity endorsement. The present study considers level of education as a moderator in the relationship between the effect of celebrity endorsement and its outcomes. In addition, we also study gender as a moderator in the relationship between trustworthiness and favourability. Using a structured instrument, data were collected from 678 respondents in a cosmopolitan city in northern part of India and analysed after checking the psychometric properties of the instrument. A conceptual model was developed and evaluated using hierarchical regression. Results showed that level of education plays a major role in changing the strength of relationship between perceived characteristics of celebrities and customer-based brand equity in terms of strength, uniqueness, and favourability of brand association. Results reveal that consumers with lower levels of education are more likely to get influenced by characteristics of celebrities when compared to consumers with higher levels of education. Apart from education, gender also plays a crucial role as a moderator in the relationship between trustworthiness and favourability. The implications are discussed.","PeriodicalId":283517,"journal":{"name":"Asia Pacific Journal of Management Research and Innovation","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134193532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
