Classification is the most accepted method used for concept detection, where, the output of the classification system is interpreted as semantic concepts. These concepts can be employed for automatic indexing, searching and retrieval of video objects. However, employed features have high dimensions and thus, concept detection with the existing classifiers experiences high computation complexity. In this paper, a new approach is proposed to reduce the classification complexity and the required time for learning and classification by choosing the most important features. For this purpose genetic algorithms are employed as a feature selector. TCO is a population based optimization technique which is inspired from intelligent behaviors of termites. The proposed approach provides a decision making model which is used by termites to adjust their movement trajectories. Termites move randomly in the search space, but their trajectories are biased towards regions with more pheromones. TCO is compared with existing population-based algorithms on a set of well known numerical test functions. The system is composed of three subsystems: skin color segmentation, lip color segmentation and face blobs selection subsystem. Whole these algorithms are fuzzy rule base ones, which are designed empirically, and then optimized by genetic algorithm. In the first stage, skin color regions are selected in the input image. Within each of the skin area, lip pixels are searched using second subsystem, and applied as a feature to identify face candidates in the skin regions. Utilizing the lip area and position relative to the skin area, and face shape information, the third subsystem is materialized to choose face blobs. To precise evaluation of the proposed system, the false positive and false negative of each subsystem, are reported for the empirically designed system as well as the optimized system. Obtained results show a remarkable decrease in false positive and false negative for optimized algorithms compared to empirically designed ones. Treatment decision-making may depend upon defined extent of disease, but it requires the knowledge of several other factors from patient and medical diagnosis. The measurement variability in some factors leads to the data with lots of noise. Most classification algorithms are very sensitive to noisy training data. The nearest-neighbor is a simple classification algorithm that is known to be very sensitive to the quality of the training data. In this paper, we use an adaptive distance measure for nearest-neighbor algorithm designed for noisy data to tackle the problem of classifying breast cancer treatments. This algorithm is based on assigning a weight to each training example. The weight assigned to a training example controls the influence of that example in classifying test patterns. The weights of training examples are assigned in such a way to minimize the leave-one-out classification error-rate on training data. To assess the performance of this method, we used clinical data about breast cancer treatments from 330 cases in an attempt to classify the treatment decisions. The proposed circuit consists of series connected sub multilevel converters blocks and it can generate DC voltage levels similar to other topologies. The proposed topology results in reduction of switches number, losses, installation area and converter cost. This converter has been used in a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). Optical beam-forming networks have been considered as a promising solution in such arrays. Performance analysis of optical beam-formers is thus quiet necessary. In this paper signal to noise ratio and dynamic range of simple optical beam-forming structures are investigated with a custom microwave CAD tool. Two structures with optical and RF power combining methods are discussed. In this paper the equations that describe the proposed system have been linearized and then the fuzzy logic controller has been designed for power System stabilizer. Damping the transients of the synchronous generator is the aim of designing of fuzzy logic controller whether the input power of generator has been changed suddenly. After collecting frequency samples of the filtering function either from electromagnetic simulations or from measurements, a model based parameter extraction (MBPE) technique is employed to approximate these samples by a rational function using Cauchy method. For lossy filters, the effect of loss is removed from the approximated filtering function by properly shifting its zeros and poles. Finally, lossless models for scattering parameters are obtained in terms of rational functions from which the coupling matrix is extracted through a synthesis and optimization process.
