Original greedy snake as a parametric active contour has weak performance in tracking target with high velocity and large displacement between two successive frames. This is due to concave parts of target boundary, shrinkage of contour if it is far from target boundary and the lack of target motion information. To cope with these problems we proposed a greedy snake with adaptive curvature energy and additional field energy term as an external energy. Third problem is handled by Kalman filter which is used in the proposed tracking algorithm for estimation of location of initial contour in the current frame. Several experiments on real video sequences show that our method can track target contour in successive frames perfectly and is robust against camera movements including zooming and vibrations.","PeriodicalId":282587,"journal":{"name":"2010 18th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121861390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A special case of segmentation is to segment objects from their background. Among different segmentation algorithm for object detection, learning based approach is widely applied. In steel industry, pallets are moving on a rail. They have high resolution details in their structure and the image of a pallet taken by a camera in real time suffers from severe noise and illumination variations. The purpose of this paper is to segment the pallet from a frame of a sequence of video images, such that the pallet is segmented without degradation of resolution. We use the pallet image in YUV color space together with wavelet transform (WT) for detection. For classification Support Vector Machine (SVM) is incorporated to the images. It is shown that the above procedure segments the pallets successfully without degradation of resolution.","PeriodicalId":282587,"journal":{"name":"2010 18th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123293969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The error sources are categorized into systematic and topologic types in which two dominant sources of each type are precisely discussed. A handful of design considerations and effective layout techniques are proposed to reduce the distortion due to mismatch errors. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results confirm that the error induced by mismatch effect can be comparable with the LSB of the high performance DAC and should be carefully considered for high resolution digital-to-analog converters in order to preserve the desired dynamic specifications. Systematic and topologic mismatch errors are simulated in HSPICE and IntelliSuite, respectively. Simulations are carried out by using the TSMC model of 0.35µm CMOS Technology.","PeriodicalId":282587,"journal":{"name":"2010 18th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"88 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130288625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we address the problem of dynamic spectrum sharing in a CRN consisting of multiple PUs that compete with each other to offer spectrum access to a single SU. This situation is formulated as an oligopoly market. For PUs, a new price function is proposed which is defined in order to maximize PUs' profits in terms of the amount of spectrum demanded by the SU. Furthermore, SU uses the Cournot game model to define its spectrum demands from different PUs. Nash equilibrium is considered as the solution of this game. We consider two different cases: Static Game and Dynamic Game; the stability condition of the proposed dynamic game is investigated. We also compare our results with those of [5]. Simulation results show that our proposed model provides larger shared spectrum sizes, higher offered prices and profits for PUs and larger stability region.","PeriodicalId":282587,"journal":{"name":"2010 18th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114966097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method is based on branch current changes immediately after the switching instant. The hypothesis states that branch current, measured by Power Quality Meter (PQM), is increasing for monitoring location at line and branches which feed the capacitor bank and is decreasing for monitoring location at other branches of the systems. Comparing the index calculated for each branch, it is possible to track and find the location of switched capacitor banks. The method is valid for both wye and delta configured capacitor banks. The size of the switched capacitor banks has no effect on method accuracy. The efficacy of the proposed technique is demonstrated using simulation results on the IEEE 13-bus distribution system. Results show that the new method is accurate and applicable in real distribution systems.","PeriodicalId":282587,"journal":{"name":"2010 18th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114592846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Automatic detection of buildings enables construction of maps, detecting changes, and monitoring urbanization. Due to the complexity and uncontrolled appearance of the scene, an intelligent fusion of different methods gives better results. To solve this problem different methods have been proposed but each of them has some shortcomings and as a consequence does not work properly in all geographical regions. In this paper, a novel semiautomatic approach for building detection using Hough transform and intensity information is presented. This method benefits from segmentation of aerial images using great tools. This segmentation will be able to estimate the centres' location of building in an image independent of geographical region's properties. Besides, it uses the Hough transform for verifying the appearance of building in estimated centres. Experimental results show the positive abilities of proposed method.","PeriodicalId":282587,"journal":{"name":"2010 18th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114752654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is, the relationship between the frequency variations and the phase variations of the linear system, when used in relay feedback form, is derived. It will be shown that for linear systems that their phase angle does not crosses −180°, the switching frequency increases without bound and there is no equilibrium point. Furthermore, it will be shown that for systems with the relative degree greater than two, i.e. systems that their phase angle crosses −180°, the phase angle equal to −180° is an equilibrium point for the oscillations frequency. Moreover, the equation that indicates the relation between the switching frequency variations and characteristics of systems such as the phase and amplitude of the system will be derived.","PeriodicalId":282587,"journal":{"name":"2010 18th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128408603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
