Considering the low level of fault current in islanded MGs, the fault detection is carried out based on the magnitude of the voltage rather than the current. Accordingly, the rms voltages of the DERs are assigned as the feature vector for fault detection SVM. Upon the occurrence of a fault, the fault location is identified by means of an interharmonic injection scheme. To identify the faulty zone, the DER which is electrically closest to the fault injects interharmonic currents into the grid and the zone with highest current is considered as the faulty zone. Then, a second DER located in the same zone inject interharmonic currents at different frequencies. The resulting interharmonic voltages are measured by each DER to form a feature vector. A multi class SVM uses this feature vector to identify the faulty line within that zone. The proposed algorithm is tested on a nine bus meshed MG. Test results show that the proposed method is capable of accurate detection of fault location even with high fault impedances.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114332887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By introducing duct turbines, researchers tried to improve the power output. The INVELOX wind turbine is a new system designed to produce more energy by getting the wind from all directions, steering the wind to the Nozzle, and then turbine in the lower side to gain more velocity. In this article, by using the CFD tools, many geometrical parameters in the inlet section have been investigated, affecting the performance of the turbine. The results show that by increasing the height and diameter of the inlet area two times, the power output will be increased up to 35% compared to the original design.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124396132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Severe grid faults mainly affect the offshore wind farms and HVDC cables. As a result, the transient response of the system deteriorates. Therefore, this paper aims for the transient analysis of line commutated current converter (LCC) based HVDC system under 3-phase fault. The paper proposes the DIgSILENT Simulation Language (DSL) oriented PI control for the both rectifier and inverter stations. The whole HVDC system is modelled in DIgSILENT PowerFactory software for the better transient response. In addition, the PI control and voltage dependent current order limiter (VDCOL) are designed in this PowerFactory software. The advantage of this software is that it improves the transient behaviour and stability of the system. These controllers limit the inrush current and voltage fluctuations at the moment of fault occurrence and clearance. The simulation results under fault indicate the better transient response with the system stability.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128771672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper introduces an imbalance power sharing role for such units considering that they are usually generating intermittent, unreliable, and erratic power. To cope with the problem, negative virtual impedance and voltage unbalanced factor (VUF) concepts are used and applied to an autonomous inverter- interfaced MG, including two grid-supporting battery energy storage systems (BESSs) and a grid-feeding photovoltaic (PV) system. Specifically, a proportion of negative-sequence output current is added to the control structure of grid-feeding PV system which is obtained from the product of output current and VUF transformed into the synchronous reference frame with negative fundamental frequency. This strategy enables us to use the remaining capacity of a PV system for imbalance power compensation. Moreover, proper reactive power sharing between grid-supporting BESSs is achieved using virtual impedance strategy. Simulation studies conducted in MATLAB/SIMULINK software verify the excellent performance of the proposed approach in improving imbalance power sharing amongst IIDGs. Furthermore, the VUF values at IIDG outputs are kept less than the maximum allowable amount of 3%.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127743591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Renewable energy is considered clean energy, and these resources should be used in the most appropriate way to minimize environmental impacts. Trombe wall is used to save energy in buildings. The Trombe wall's significant problem is that indoor temperature can reach above the 40 oC and this reasons to rise in cooling load. In this paper, a model has been developed for overcoming temperature growth in outdoor air in the summertime. In this model, a heat pipe is placed to the airflow channel for removing heat to be decreased indoor air. Also, an integrated wind turbine is installed in the building for electricity generation, and the results are evaluated.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113975134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the penetration of these turbines increases in modern grids, the stored kinetic energy will be significant. When frequency drops due to different disturbances, these wind turbine units can also discharge some amount of their kinetic energy to grid to improve the frequency profile. Wind turbine generators can be operated at a deloading power point with a reduced power level instead of maximum power point. Deloading operation provide a reserve power capacity for wind generator. Thus, the wind generators can have contribution in frequency control when an active power mismatch between generation and demand appear. In this case, some percentage of the maximum capturable power is prevented from being injected to the grid. In fact, the part of the available energy of the wind turbine is blocked which increases the speed of the turbine shaft. In this situation, to optimize the frequency of the grid, the control coefficients of this wind turbine should be adjusted in such a way that the operation of the turbine would be coordinated with the other power sources. To improve the frequency oscillation this paper has employed a method to optimize the controller parameters of power sources using Teaching–Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm. The frequency of the case study with and without contribution of the wind unit in frequency regulating condition is tested using MATLAB/Simulink.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130989879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, charging and discharging ESS to enhance the virtual inertia of the system is done through the converter. The proposed inertia control has a first-order inertia loop that is implemented in the interface converter between ESS and DCMG. The study plan is simulated on a conventional islanded microgrid in Matlab/Simulink. In the present study, the use of Vestas V-47 wind turbine and uniform one-way wind in achieving the optimal arrangement of horizontal axis turbines in Manjil with genetic and Monte Carlo algorithms has been investigated. Jensen model is used to simulate the wake effect on the downstream turbines. The objective function is considered as the ratio of cost to power of the power plant. The results show that the Monte Carlo method compared with genetic algorithm will give a better result. Under the same conditions, the Monte Carlo algorithm will give 29% and 40% better results in terms of the number of turbines and output power, respectively. In terms of optimization, in the Monte Carlo algorithm, its fitness value is 16% less than the genetic algorithm, which indicates its better optimization.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131573015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is the purpose of this paper to investigate the effect of grid-connected large-scale wind farms in a region in Iran, on the reduction of natural gas consumptions in heat-cycle power plants and their related CO2 emissions as a practical case study. The wind farms under study comprise about 51% of the total grid connected capacity of wind generation in Iran. First, the total energy yielded by the considered wind farms are extracted for a two-year period from April 2019 to March 2021 based on a detailed practical data and then, the impact of this renewable-based energy generation is studied on the reduction of natural gas consumption in a real gas-cycle power plant due to its practical fuel intake data. The financial revenue of savings in the natural gas intake is also estimated based on the two-year average international price of natural gas. Finally, the reduction of CO2 emission is calculated as the result of reduction in the natural gas consumption of the considered gas-cycle power plant. The results of this practical case study well demonstrate the effective role of wind farms energy generation on the reduction of fossil fuels consumption in heat-cycle power plants and thus, the significant reduction of CO2 emissions as one of the most crucial aspects of decarbonization plans.","PeriodicalId":281528,"journal":{"name":"7th Iran Wind Energy Conference (IWEC2021)","volume":"133 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126289604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
