To achieve this, I analysed 94 documents, including articles, dissertations, and book chapters published in several national and international databases in the period from 2013 to 2023. The review of these studies also serves as a means to understand how different scholars have analysed textbooks in their contexts. This article is derived from a doctoral study that stems from my personal and professional interests. The research presents seven tensions that reveal traditional ways of analysing textbooks over decades, the need for deeper critical intercultural views, biased cultural and intercultural representations, uncritical literacy practices, coloniality of being, bilingual policy hegemony, and controlled evaluation, selection, and use of EFL textbooks. All this means that there is a need to consider critical interculturality as an attempt to decolonize traditional ways of teaching at different educational levels of education. The result of this analysis further suggests a research gap regarding critical interculturality and EFL textbooks.","PeriodicalId":280746,"journal":{"name":"Revista Guillermo de Ockham","volume":"222 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139799664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It highlights the peaceful significance of Leo Tolstoy’s ethics of nonviolence, Vladimir Solovyov’s concept of omniunity, and Mikhail Bakhtin’s dialogical philosophy. Dialogue is conceived not only as communication but also as a metaphysics of personality and meaning and as dialogical relationships at the intersubjective, social, and intercultural levels. These ideas were developed in contemporary intercultural philosophy both in Russia and Latin America. The article also analyzes the obstacles to dialogical and peaceful relations, aggravated by hegemonic geopolitics. The rise of global consciousness and anti-war movements led to the end of the Cold War in 1990 and created opportunities for a positive transformation of societies and the international system. But these opportunities were torpedoed by the neoconservative “revolution” and the U.S. policy of global hegemony in a unipolar world, triggering a new Cold War and the arms race, which threaten the future of humanity. This policy resulted in NATO’s hybrid proxy war in Ukraine, which sought to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia. But countries that do not want to be dominated are striving for an alternative, multipolar world of independent sovereign states, based on relations of dialogue between equals and collaboration to solve social and global problems and peace. This alternative takes shape in BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and other associations, based on sovereign equality, a balance of interests, and consensus. The article thus highlights the role of intercultural philosophy in promoting cultural diversity and dialogical relations and in developing a vision of a free, just, and peaceful world order in the future.","PeriodicalId":280746,"journal":{"name":"Revista Guillermo de Ockham","volume":"80 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139860957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Los antecedentes son algunos textos de filosofía latinoamericana y filosofía intercultural, desde los cuales se explica que, para el neoliberalismo, la inclusión es de utilidad para arrasar con las creencias y prácticas bioculturales de las comunidades marginadas, al intentar homogeneizarlas con la cultura occidental. Dado que la inclusión educativa refleja la lógica del neoliberalismo, la hipótesis apunta a la necesidad de una filosofía intercultural que defienda las creencias y prácticas de la diversidad epistémica. Lo anterior se justifica en que algunos Estados promueven la inclusión de poblaciones marginadas en el sistema educativo y en el laboral como forma de contrarrestar la exclusión del sistema económico capitalista. Sin embargo, la inclusión impone normas occidentales que uniforman a las personas excluidas. Por eso, en lugar de incentivar la inclusión, se propone la interculturalidad como alternativa que fomenta el diálogo entre diversos saberes; el cual es necesario para construir un conocimiento integrador, transdisciplinar y complejo.","PeriodicalId":280746,"journal":{"name":"Revista Guillermo de Ockham","volume":"60 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139861326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author argues that the last century was marked by violence and destruction, from world wars to extermination camps and state crimes. Badiou claims that this violence stems from a passion for the real, a quest to transform existing reality and create a new world. However, this passion clashes with reality itself, creating an irreducible difference between the real and constructed reality. This difference is what allows us to understand the phenomenon of violence. The passion for the real seeks to purify it and unmask the superficiality of reality, but it can never fully achieve its goal. Furthermore, this passion for the real creates constant mistrust of semblances, leading to suspicion and persecution. The totalitarian violence of the 20th century arises from this infinite suspicion directed towards semblances. The article explores in detail the relationship between the passion for the real, violence, and the distance between the real and semblances.","PeriodicalId":280746,"journal":{"name":"Revista Guillermo de Ockham","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130818421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adorno, en su texto “Educación después de Auschwitz” (1998) y, segundo, las críticas realizadas por Michel Foucault a los sistemas de poder dominantes, así como al proyecto de la Ilustración, en escritos como “¿Qué es la Ilustración?” (1994), La hermenéutica del sujeto (2011) y La verdad y las formas jurídicas (1983). Con fundamento en lo anterior, por un lado, se da cuenta de la construcción de ciertos ethos universitario –configurados, en ocasiones, por relaciones de poder, dominación y sujeción– permeados por estructuras hegemónicas inmersas en modelos socioeconómicos. The tasks solved in the article are to reveal the essence of understanding the modern concept of global peace; to analyze the effectiveness of the mechanism of international institutions in providing counteraction to the military threat; to study terrorism as an opposition to peace and stability; to reveal the nature of challenges to the information and educational environment as a significant factor in ensuring global peace. The humanistic approach is characterized by a special axiological value for research, with a methodological triad of methods used: philosophical, general scientific and special scientific methods. The method of empirical individual observation is applied in the context of demonstrating the opposition to the concept of world peace in the example of the war in Ukraine; the method of the author's questionnaire is used to determine the informational and educational factors in the concept of ensuring world peace. In the conclusions the thesis is presented that the modern interpretation of the concept of global peace should be extended to its perception as a comprehensive ideology, which includes not only legal regulators of countering military conflicts but also a wide range of social security institutions for peaceful coexistence of people in the political and legal reality. The elements of the concept of the global world order are the functioning of international and national subjects to ensure peace and development of civil society, including the education of the global world order, tolerance, democratic values of constitutionalism and the rule of law, and other primary legal axiological values. The originality of the research lies in the comprehensive analysis of globalization threats to the concept of peace and security of the international society in the military, anti-terrorist, and information spheres with the demonstration of empirical material from the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022.","PeriodicalId":280746,"journal":{"name":"Revista Guillermo de Ockham","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130833056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
