This study aimed to identify  printed Malay language documents found in libraries throughout Central Java,especially in Semarang, which was printed before  World War II, focusing on the period 1820-1940 (the colonial era and the growth of print literacy in Malays). The categorization of literary publishers was attempted to characterize the development of printed literature in the Dutch East Indies. Qualitative research methods with descriptive qualitative analysis techniques were used to convey accurate data obtained from library studies and field data in the form of printing and publishing data in the form of lists of newspapers printed during the Early Dutch East Indies around 1880-1945.qualitative research methods with descriptive qualitative analysis techniques by conveying accurate data obtained from library studies and field data in the form of printing and publishing data in the form of lists of newspapers printed during the Early Dutch East Indies around 1880-1945.  To trace the development of early printed literature in the Dutch East Indies, data were obtained from several publications and printers that printed newspapers, brochures, and books on politics, health, and literature. Several sources obtained results related to data on the number of publications or printing presses in Semarang as well as the newspapers printed by these printing presses. The conclusion of this research is that the initial development of printed literature began with the presence of various printing and publishing houses. It was recorded that there were 16 publishing and printing companies operating over a period of 100 years from 1845-1945 to. Early printed literature in the Dutch East Indies usually took the form of newspapers or books.  There are approximately 19 newspapers which are daily or weekly which are published and used very well by the Dutch government as promotional, educational and even propaganda media. Of the many publications and printers that exist and thrive in Semarang, only a few print literary works in the form of books and newspapers.  It is known that there are only three printers or publishers that print literary books: G.C.T. van Dorp Co., Semarang Drukkerij en Boekhandel H. A. Benjamins and NV Boekahandelen, Drukkerij Masman and Stroink.AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan dalam upaya penelusuran perkembangan sastra cetak di awal Pemerintahan Hindia Belanda. Psychological conditions greatly affect the character's ability to be resilient. This study aims to describe the aspects of supporting resilience that are carried out by the character Diane to get out of her slump. The subject of this research is the main character, Diane, and the research object studied is the aspect of supporting resilience by the character Diane in the novel Les Gens Heureux Lisent et Boivent du Café by Agnès Martin-Lugand. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative method with a literary psychology approach. The results of this study indicate that the aspects of resilience that support Diane's character to find her happiness again can be seen from seven aspects, namely emotion regulation, impulse control, optimism, causal analysis, empathy, self-efficacy, and achievement. Diane's causal analysis ability is the most supportive in the process of carrying out resilience. Therefore, these aspects of resilience allowed Diane to process very well in identifying the problems she was facing so that she was able to get out of her slump. AbstrakTantangan manusia dalam menjalani kehidupan sering dijadikan sebagai gambaran kepribadian atau kejiwaan tokoh dalam cerita. Kondisi kejiwaan sangat mempengaruhi kemampuan tokoh dalam beresiliensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan aspek-aspek pendukung resiliensi yang dilakukan tokoh Diane untuk keluar dari keterpurukannya. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tokoh utama yaitu Diane dan objek penelitian yang dikaji adalah aspek pendukung resiliensi yang dilakukan tokoh Diane dalam roman Les Gens Heureux Lisent et Boivent du Café karya Agnès Martin-Lugand. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif-kualitatif dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa aspek resiliensi yang mendukung tokoh Diane untuk menemukan kebahagiaannya kembali terlihat dari tujuh aspek yaitu regulasi emosi, pengendalian impuls, optimis, analisis kausal, empati, efikasi diri, dan pencapaian. Kemampuan analisis kausal yang dimiliki Diane paling mendukung dalam proses melakukan resiliensi. However, the Soviet Union used animation as a propaganda medium that combined the production of visual images, narration and sound to build enemy framing and lead public perception of the United States during the Cold War era. This research discusses the representation of the United States in the animated film Миллионер (The Millionaire) made by the Soviet Union as a form of propaganda. This article aims to show how the Soviet Union represented the United States as a negative things in an effort to carry out propaganda. Stuart Hall’s representational theory suggests that meaning is produced by language. Based on the presentation of the representation of the United States in the animation Миллионер (The Millionaire) it is known that the animation has a role as a propaganda tool for the Soviet Union to criticize US imperialism and shape public opinion towards a more negative depiction of America. The United States is portrayed as a country of antagonistic, capitalist, industrialist, careless and greedy bourgeoisie. AbstrakAnimasi secara umum digunakan sebagai media hiburan. Akan tetapi, Uni Soviet menggunakan animasi sebagai media propaganda yang memadukan produksi citra visual, narasi, dan suara untuk membangun framing musuh dan menggiring persepsi publik terhadap Amerika Serikat pada era Perang Dingin. Penelitian ini membahas representasi Amerika Serikat dalam film animasi Миллионер (Millioner) yang dibuat oleh Uni Soviet sebagai bentuk propaganda. Artikel ini bertujuan menunjukkan cara Uni Soviet merepresentasikan Amerika Serikat sebagai hal yang negatif dalam upaya melakukan propaganda. Teori representasi Stuart Hall menunjukkan bahwa makna diproduksi oleh bahasa. Berdasarkan pemaparan representasi Amerika Serikat dalam animasi Миллионер (Millioner) diketahui bahwa animasi tersebut memiliki peran sebagai alat propaganda Uni Soviet untuk mengkritik imperialisme Amerika Serikat dan membentuk opini publik terhadap penggambaran Amerika ke arah yang lebih negatif. This research seeks to examine melancholism characteristics in the lyrics of Denny Caknan's Javanese pop songs in the last four years. This research was conducted with a descriptive qualitative approach. The research method used is library research with the object of Denny Caknan's song lyrics containing melancholism. The data collection technique used was note taking technique, while the data analysis used was inductive descriptive. The results obtained from this study indicate that the lyrics of the songs analyzed describe the characteristics of melancholy, namely resentment due to deep heartbreak; blaming oneself, others, or circumstances; lose the passion to communicate with the outside world; lose the power to love; a decrease in self-confidence that leads to self-criticism and self-condemnation. AbstrakMelankolisme menjadi salah satu daya tarik dalam sebuah lirik lagu sebagai sarana penyampaian makna. Penelitian ini berupaya meneliti karaketristik melankolisme dalam lirik lagu pop berbahasa Jawa ciptaan Denny Caknan dalam kurun waktu empat tahun terakhir. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pustaka (library research) dengan objek lirik lagu Denny Caknan bermuatan melankolis. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yakni teknik simak catat, sedangkan analisis data yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif induktif. Video games are unique compared to other media as they provide interactive experience for the users by giving them the power to choose. It has been argued that mythologies and belief systems play an important role in video games, wherein they act as referents to which video games are based on. This study aims to research how the major belief system in Dragon Age: Origins (2009) is interconnected with the in-game racial hierarchy. Using textual analysis as the method, the game narrative and mechanics are studied in order to pinpoint the connection between institutionalized religion and racism. The findings show that there are complex relations between racism and institutionalized religion. Through time, the study of religious racism and our understanding of religiosity evolved. Although there is no explicit positive correlation between the two, it is not entirely unrelated either. We must be careful not to oppose religion itself, but to criticize the other dynamics that come into play such as power and money.AbstrakPertumbuhan pesat gim video dalam budaya populer telah menarik perhatian cendekiawan selama bertahun-tahun. Gim video adalah media yang unik karena pemain mendapatkan kuasa untuk memilih, membuat gim video menjadi media interaktif. Keberadaan mitologi dan sistem kepercayaan dipercaya sebagai pemegang peran penting dalam gim, yang mana kedua hal tersebut menjadi referensi yang menjadi dasar dari gim secara umum. Studi ini bertujuan untuk meneliti bagaimana keyakinan mayoritas dalam gim Dragon Age: Origins (2009) saling berhubungan dengan hierarki ras yang ada dalam gim tersebut. Metode yang diambil adalah analisis tekstual yang mana narasi dan mekanisme dalam gim dipelajari guna menunjukkan hubungan antara lembaga agama dan rasisme. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan kompleks di antara rasisme dan lembaga agama. Seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, studi tentang rasisme agama dan pemahaman kita akan religiusitas terus berkembang. Meskipun tidak ada relasi yang absolut di antara rasisme dan lembaga agama, tidak bisa dipungkiri bahwa keduanya sama sekali tidak terikat satu sama lain. Based on the initial reading of the novel Kekasih Musim Gugur, several similarities in the portrayal of the main character, Srikandi Eilers, in the novel with the character of Srikandi in Javanese wayang were found. This research aims to describe the forms of transformation of wayang story elements in various dimensions of the life of the character Srikandi Eilers in the novel Kekasih Musim Gugur using the concept of intertextuality by Julia Kristeva. Through the analysis, it is revealed that the most prominent transformation in this novel is the transformation of character elements. Character transformation in this novel takes the form of naming and characterization transformations. The naming transformation model is applied to all the names of the main characters in the novel. Meanwhile, the characterization transformation model is applied to some of the main character's personas in the novel through three dimensions of the character's life: (1) Srikandi as Amba's child; (2) Srikandi as a stepmother; and (3) Srikandi as a bisexual woman. The transformation of characters is adapted by the author to the social context at the time when Kekasih Musim Gugur was written. By transforming the name of the wayang character Srikandi into the character of Srikandi Eilers, the author simultaneously transforms several aspects of her character. Therefore, the transformation of naming in the novel Kekasih Musim Gugur shows a typological tendency (naming based on a person's personality or character).AbstrakKekasih Musim Gugur merupakan karya fiksi Indonesia kontemporer yang di dalamnya mengandung unsur karya sastra lama berupa cerita pewayangan. Berdasarkan pembacaan awal terhadap novel Kekasih Musim Gugur, ditemukan adanya sejumlah kesamaan penggambaran Srikandi Eilers sebagai tokoh utama dalam novel tersebut dengan tokoh Srikandi dalam pewayangan Jawa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk transformasi unsur cerita pewayangan pada sejumlah dimensi kehidupan tokoh Srikandi Eilers dalam novel Kekasih Musim Gugur dengan menggunakan konsep teori intertekstualitas Julia Kristeva. Berdasarkan analisis, diketahui bahwa transformasi yang paling menonjol di novel ini adalah transformasi unsur penokohan. Transformasi penokohan dalam novel ini mengambil model transformasi penamaan dan perwatakan. Model transformasi penamaan dilakukan pada seluruh nama tokoh utama dalam novel. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. The results show that there are 2 types of refusal strategies:direct refusal and indirect refusal strategies. There are several subtypes included in the classification: reasons or explanations (12 data), attempts to obstruct the interlocutor (6 data) statements of principle (4 data), non-performative statements (5 data), statements of regret (3 data), alternative statements (2 data), acceptance that functions as a refusal (1 data) and avoidance (1 data). In addition, the sequences of refusal strategies consist of post refusal (22 data), pre-refusal (15 data) and main refusal (6 data).  AbstrakPenelitian ini menggunakan film Spencer 2021 untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis strategi penolakan dan urutan strategi penolakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 jenis strategi penolakan: strategi penolakan langsung dan strategi penolakan tidak langsung. This study uses qualitative methods and a psychological approach by utilizing resilience theory. The subject of this research is a novel “Une Fille Comme Elle” by Marc Levy (2018). The object of research is in the form of words, phrases, sentences or paragraphs about (1) Chloé's resilience aspects in Marc Levy's “Une Fille Comme Elle” novel (2) Chloé's resilience factors in Marc Levy's Une Fille Comme Elle novel. Data collection techniques used content analysis and data analysis techniques, assisted by semantic validity and intra-rater reliability tests as well as expert judgment. The results of the research show that: (1) there is an aspect of resilience in Chloé as evidenced by the discovery of aspects of personal competency resilience: high standards and tenacity dominate, (2) the presence of resilience factors, as evidenced by the discovery of external community factors. So it can be concluded that Chloé has aspects of personal competence, with high standards and tenacity and external community factors that make her a resilient woman.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) aspek resiliensi yang ada dalam diri Chloé pada novel Une Fille Comme Elle karya Marc Levy (2018); (2) faktor yang melatarbelakangi adanya resiliensi pada tokoh utama Chloé dalam novel Une Fille Comme Elle Karya Marc Levy (2018). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan psikologi dengan memanfaatkan teori resiliensi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah novel dengan judul Une Fille Comme Elle karya Marc Levy (2018). Objek penelitian berupa kata, frasa, kalimat ataupun paragraf tentang (1) aspek resiliensi Chloé pada novel Une Fille Comme Elle karya Marc Levy (2) faktor resiliensi Chloé dalam novel Une Fille Comme Elle Karya Marc Levy. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik analisis konten dan analisis data, dibantu dengan uji validitas semantis dan reliabilitas intra-rater serta expert judgment. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; (1) adanya aspek resiliensi dalam diri Chloé yang dibuktikan dengan ditemukannya aspek resiliensi kompetensi pribadi: standar tinggi dan keuletan yang mendominasi, (2) adanya faktor resiliensi, dibuktikan dengan ditemukannya faktor komunitas eksternal. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian yang melibatkan analisis teks yang mendalam, analysis tematik, studi karakter, nuansa linguistik, dan sudut pandang naratif, kami menguraikan sifat yang kompleks dari novelini.  Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa karakterpada novel  masing-masing menggambarkan ketahanan dan harapan, sementara teknik naratif, termasuk deskripsi yang jelas, dialog, dan nuansa budaya, memperkaya pengalaman yang mendalam. Eksplorasi tematis menyoroti pesan mendalam novel ini tentang ketekunan, kekuatan transformatif pendidikan, dan pengaruh yang berlangsung dari mentor yang berdedikasi. Selain itu, penggunaan gaya bahasa dan sudut pandang naratif dalam novel ini ditemukan meningkatkan keterlibatan pembaca dan koneksi emosional. Religion in film is the antithesis of horror, rarely does it venture into the concept of religion itself as the source. Netflix's Midnight Mass (2021) by Mike Flanagan explores this topic in a deeper yet subtle manner. Since the series was released less than two years before this article was written, most of the articles found are focused on the cinematic aspect and the performance of actors. This article examines the use of overt religiousness to push forward the horror narrative, particularly the interchangeable nature of angels and vampires. By using textual analysis as a method, the writer concludes that horror can only be recontextualized into a holy perspective because religion is the origin of said horror.AbstrakDalam perfilman, agama dan horor seringkali di tempatkan di sisi yang berlawanan. Agama dalam film merupakan antitesis dari horor, terdapat sedikit film horor yang menggunakan konsep agama sebagai sumber dari teror. Acara Netflix Midnight Mass (2021) oleh Mike Flanagan mengeksplorasi topik ini dengan cara yang lebih dalam namun halus. karena acara tersebut dirilis kurang dari dua tahun sebelum naskah ini ditulis, sebagian besar naskah yang ditemukan berfokus pada aspek sinematik dan penampilan para aktor.
