All the studied variables are measured with well established multi-item scales that have been validated both in English speaking populations and in China. The PRODCLIN three-step method, which can overcome the limitations of the commonly used Baron and Kenny causal approach, was used to test the mediating role of job satisfaction on the Big Five and subjective wellbeing relationship. The statistical analysis found that the relationship between extraversion and subjective wellbeing is partially mediated by job satisfaction. Conscientiousness and neuroticism only have a direct effect on subjective wellbeing. The research also found a stronger role of Big Five in predicting subjective wellbeing than predicting job satisfaction. The findings of a significant effect of extraversion, neuroticism and conscientiousness on subjective wellbeing support the instrumental theory. The finding of a stronger effect of extraversion than neuroticism in predicting subjective wellbeing suggest that culture may moderate the Big Five and subjective wellbeing relationshiship.","PeriodicalId":280476,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Management Science & Engineering 18th Annual Conference Proceedings","volume":"238 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126811188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article does the research from the perspective of the relationship between managers' political connection and corporate diversification, and analyses specifically the effect of political connection on diversification and enterprise growth. The study found that higher political correlativity between government and enterprises indicate that political connection helps companies get more diversified resources. Meanwhile, the enterprises with higher political relativity bring higher enterprise growth through implementing diversification strategy, indicating that political connection can be recognized by the market as an alternative mechanism. The paper enriches the literature on enterprise diversification and the relationship between government and enterprises, meanwhile, it provide the reference for economic reform in China.","PeriodicalId":280476,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Management Science & Engineering 18th Annual Conference Proceedings","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128176175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Whereas, “Base Number Technique” sharing is implemented for the VAT revenue between the central and local governments; that is to say, the VAT revenues turned over by the provincial governments are shared by the central and local governments as per the proportion of 75%–25%. The local governments have independent economic benefit, and have strong motivation to perform VAT system, and thereby the VAT revenue increases greatly; however, a new tax competition of VAT is put on the stage. The paper, in the first place, reviews the relevant theories of tax competition, then lists the cross-provincial VAT competition forms in China and analyzes the economic effects caused by VAT competition, and finally, as per the latest theories of the international tax revenue circle, raises some regulation suggestions on the VAT competition behaviors between the provincial governments.","PeriodicalId":280476,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Management Science & Engineering 18th Annual Conference Proceedings","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114350636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the definition of portfolio quality, after making assumptions on the ‘true’ correlation matrix, we theoretically analyze adverse influence of correlation noise on portfolio quality. The method from random matrix theory (RMT) can be used for denoising the correlation matrix in such a way that only statistically relevant information is used. Theoretically portfolio quality can be improved by noise filtering of correlation matrix based on RMT which is empirically proved in many different stock markets. Despite the fact that much noise exists for correlation matrices of Chinese stock returns, whether better portfolios can be achieved from Chinese stock market by application of RMT for removing the noise of correlation matrices is seldom studied. We apply the method based on random matrix theory to cleaning correlation matrices of 102 Chinese stocks and on this basis construct portfolios. Comparison of portfolios with different number of eigenvalues kept in correlation matrices of two different estimation periods shows that the denoising technique from RMT is an effective method of improving portfolio quality in Chinese stock market by successfully cleaning the correlation matrix.","PeriodicalId":280476,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Management Science & Engineering 18th Annual Conference Proceedings","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114367985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, cultural mindset interprets the online feedback differently, which is likely to result in the variation of online trading behavior. The previous studies have been long downplayed in the online trading behavior. With the growing amount of Chinese E-Commerce, we ask whether the western e-commerce model works in the Chinese Context. This study attempts to explore and compare the effect of online word-of-mouth on trust building, and price premium in Chinese and U.S. Contexts. We propose that collectivism would increase the buyer's reliance on the feedback profile. Risk avoidance moderates the association between information of feedback profile and price premium. Structural equation model and regression techniques will be employed to analyze the data collected from online auctions and questionnaires. On the view that enterprise groups are embedded in informal network structures, this paper laid a theoretical foundation for the research on subsidiary initiative mechanism and its inherent law. This paper put forward three key proposition: (1) internal network embeddedness create conditions for subsidiary implementing internal initiatives; and consider the network marginal effect, we have (2) Based on rational principles, subsidiaries which implement external initiatives will reduce its network embeddedness, and (3) Subsidiaries who obey rational principles of the subsidiary wouldn't infinitely increase its network embeddedness in enterprise groups. Finally, this study is based on a case study analyse of Hisense Group, through annual reports data of public companies and questionnaire surveys with key initiative and embeddedness information, and the result provides preliminary support for the hypothesized effect of subsidiary initiatives.","PeriodicalId":280476,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Management Science & Engineering 18th Annual Conference Proceedings","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115497684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

What's more, manufacturing is important to the industrial sector. Therefore, from the point of final energy consumption, this paper studies the CO2 emissions per outputs in the manufacturing. With Logarithmic Mean Weight Divisia(LMD) method, a decomposition model of CO2 emissions is built. And, 1994 as the base year, it analyzes the characteristics of CO2 emissions per outputs in manufacturing from 1999 to 2007. The conclusion: first, in the past few years, CO2 emissions per outputs in manufacturing tended to decline; second, the coal-dominated energy structure had the restrain effect on reducing CO2 emissions per outputs, but the fuel efficiency was the driving factor; third, the fuel structure had the greater potential than the fuel efficiency.","PeriodicalId":280476,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Management Science & Engineering 18th Annual Conference Proceedings","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130074985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cluster model increasingly becomes the main economic organization form of the world creative industry. Getting complementary knowledge and realizing the knowledge complementary within creative industry cluster is the main motivation of each cooperator. What's more, the complementary degree of knowledge also determines the development altitude of creative industry cluster. So, the BP neural network model was applied to evaluate the degree of knowledge complementary within the creative industry cluster. This paper constructs the creative industry cluster evaluation index system of knowledge complementary degree. Simultaneously, the paper has proposed the method to evaluate the creative industry cluster knowledge complementary degree based on BP Neural Networks. The study indicates that BP neural network is a model without linear mapping. It can give a satisfactory effort while the indices with a high level of correlation, nonlinear changing and data lacking.
