Population aging is manifested by a steady increase in the share of people of retirement age. Changes in the number of citizens of the older age affect health indicators of the population and substantiate improvements in organization of medical and social assistance to this group of population. Purpose. Dynamic assessment of mortality and morbidity rates among the retirement age population in the Trans-Baikal Territory with due regard to regional characteristics. Material and methods. The study was carried out through data extraction and analysis of materials of the state statistical reports of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the period 2015-2021. Pearson correlation coefficient method was used. Results. A seven-year dynamics show increased mortality among the retirement age population in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This indicator is higher than the one in the Russian Federation and the Far Eastern Federal District. The main contributors include diseases of the circulatory system, neoplasms and diseases of the nervous system. Despite the growth, indicators of disease incidence and prevalence among the retirement age population remain lower than those in the Russian Federation and the Far Eastern Federal District. Increased incidence of socially significant diseases among the retirement age population has been identified. There is a direct interim association between incidence and prevalence rates, confirming that increase in prevalence is accounted for by increase in incidence. The study results confirm that disease incidence is determined by indicators of medical care availability. Conclusion. Increase in the level of incidence, unfavorable trends in the incidence of socially significant diseases result in increased demand for medical care, and call for specific measures to be taken to improve organization of medical care delivery to the retirement age population","PeriodicalId":279998,"journal":{"name":"Social Aspects of Population Health","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120975356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regular physical activity strengthens health and improves well-being, therefore, increasing commitment to physical activity among population is rather relevant. Students of medical universities will become guides to a healthy lifestyle for their future patients, which implies their commitment to regular physical activity. Personal interest in promoting health through physical exercises presumably depends upon the health status of students. Purpose: to analyze commitment to physical exercises among students with different self-assessment of health. Material and Methods. The analysis of 1732 questionnaires collected during the survey of students of the Kuban State Medical University was carried out. Responders included 25.7% of young males, 35.0% of the first-year students and 11.9% of the sixth-year students. The average age of males and females is the same (21.9 years). The analysis of commitment to physical exercises was carried out among all respondents in general and with a breakdown on gender, year in the University (first and sixth year students), health self-assessment (“good health and very good” and “bad health and very bad”), self-assessment of the concern for health (“I care a lot” and “I care little or not at all”), and presence of chronic diseases (yes/no). The Chi-square test was used to compare distribution of different opinions. Conclusion. Commitment to physical exercises among students is associated with health self-estimation rather than the state of health. The state of health increases motivation to exercise only among a small share of students with poor health. Awareness of the impact of physical activity on the risk of chronic diseases is not sufficient to increase commitment of the young people to exercise, sports or fitness. The highest impact on the commitment is made by the \"fashion trend\" for a healthy lifestyle. Students who define their state of health as good are more concerned about their health and significantly more often practice regular physical activity of high intensity. For young males with good health social contacts are more significant in physical exercises both in comparison with females who define their state of health as good and in comparison with young men with lower self-estimation of health. For students with low health self-estimation, the main incentive for physical activities, sports or fitness is the desire to look better. Doctor's recommendations are a twice more effective incentive for females compared to males.","PeriodicalId":279998,"journal":{"name":"Social Aspects of Population Health","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116333424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the understudied areas in shaping the attitude of the population towards vaccination is the impact of the content and intensity of information dissemination about vaccination via the Internet and traditional mass media. Analyzing the mass media impact in the situation of pandemics is especially relevant. The purpose of the study: to assess the impact of COVID-related information messages on the rate of population vaccination and determine specific features of the effective content. Material and methods. The material for the analysis was statistical data on the number and topic of information messages identified by online search queries in the monitoring and analysis system of mass media and social networks for the period from April 01, 2019 to April 13, 2022, the analysis of which was carried out on the basis of mathematical and linguistic analysis of texts of 81,000 open media sources. As well as information on the incidence and rate of vaccination available from the official website стопкоронавирус.рф for the same time period. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out by the method of hierarchical cluster analysis with the creation of dendrogram in the statistical package SPSS 22.00; by the method of correlation analysis with the calculation of the two-sided Pearson coefficient; during the result interpretation, only correlations at the significance level p<0.01 and the value of the correlation coefficient above 0.5 were taken into account. Results. The study shows that the parameters of vaccination considered in the article are hardly affected by the variables forming the “Neutrality Factor” cluster, and also allowed us to make a number of assumptions: the number of vaccinated is directly dependent upon the mortality rate and the volume of negative information in the media; the monthly increase in the number of vaccinated is directly related to the number of media reports with quotes from leading experts and references to statistical data, and is negatively associated with the proportion of neutral messages on the topic of the pandemic. Conclusion. The presented results made it possible to formulate priority directions for enhancing commitment of the Russian population to vaccination, increasing public confidence in vaccines, as well as directions to dramatically increase the rate of vaccination in extreme pandemic situations through intensification of the information and propaganda impact on the population. Moreover, according to the study results, such an impact, in order to be effective, must meet certain criteria. Scope of application. The study results can be used by executive authorities responsible for preserving the life and health of the citizens.","PeriodicalId":279998,"journal":{"name":"Social Aspects of Population Health","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123744429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Implementation of the federal projects “Fight against cardiovascular diseases” and “Fight against cancer” requires assessment of incidence of socially significant diseases in population (malignant neoplasms, diabetes mellitus, mental and behavioral disorders, diseases characterized by elevated blood pressure). One of the categories of citizens requiring such assessment is population of single-industry towns accounting for about 12.5 % of the Russian population. Purpose. To analyze incidence of socially significant diseases in the adult population of a single-industry town located in the area of operation of a nuclear industry enterprise in 1990-2020. The material of the study was information on disease incidence among adult population of the closed administrative-territorial entity – the city of Seversk, residing in the operation area of the Siberian Chemical Plant in 1990-2020. Results. During the study period there was an increase in the incidence of malignant neoplasms, diseases of the endocrine system (including diabetes mellitus), as well as diseases of the circulatory system (in particular, diseases characterized by elevated blood pressure). At the same time, in 2018-2020, there was a decrease in the incidence of diseases under study, as well as a decrease in the incidence rates with temporary disability. The incidence of mental and behavioral disorders associated with the use of psychoactive substances has been steadily decreasing throughout the study period. Conclusion. Increase in incidence of socially significant diseases is most likely due to population aging and increase in the share of people aged 60 and older in population. However, the 2018-2020, decline in incidence rates requires a further analysis of availability of primary health care, volumes of emergency care, hospital mortality and mortality of population of the area under study. Decreased incidence of mental and behavioral disorders associated with the use of psychoactive substances suggests that the socio-economic situation in the Russian Federation has significantly improved during the study period.","PeriodicalId":279998,"journal":{"name":"Social Aspects of Population Health","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115716081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
